17" Digimate L-1718 TFT Monitor

I purchased this 17" Digimate LCD monitor for my pc from Asda for £146.97 as a replacement for my old conventional monitor as I need to save some space. I brought this display system home and was pleasantly surprised at the weight and the fact that I could take it out of the box on my own, as I have experience of other ones that are so tightly crammed with the packaging they have needed two people to remove them from the box. We brought this monitor as an optional extra when we brought the new P.C, it cost us an extra £30.00 on top of the standard monitor price, so worked out about £130.00. I've had this monitor for quite some time now I bought it from aria.co.uk for about £130, I've used dell monitors in the past and there is no difference in quality at all, colours and picture quality are excellent. I bought this screen from Aria for £140.00 about 6 months ago. I bought it for my desktop PC, switching from my old big, bulky screen to this new flat screen. I was trying to find a screen with a reasonable refresh rate, and I found this by accident and by coincidence, it was on offer. I bought it and installed it. I have brought this monitor for an extremely cheap cost of £58 with free delivery from a different website. Although the monitor I received was warranty replaced it worked as perfect as a new one, I have to say it is very much on the lines in regards to quality of picture and build the same as the more popular manufacturers such as HP or Dell at a price point of £100 or above. ...in 2002/3 with a high-price 17" Samsung that was then among the market leaders. It lasted about a week longer than the warranty. Doh! As it's a waste of time trying to repair a TFT monitor I found myself faced with an unexpected financial outlay, so I decided to replace it with a much lower-budget model - the Digimate L-1718. That was about two years ago and it's given me no problems at all and was a fantastic buy. Sure, it's stiff to tilt the screen ...
...how often do I want to change the viewing angle? Once set it just sits there, displaying. It can cope with oblique viewing, from above and the sides and is not too reflective if a strong light is behind you. The on-screen menus are easy to use (bog-standard, in fact), and I've had no problems with ghosting or poor refresh rate. Also, it has only 1 dead pixcel (as did my expensive Samsung). Not bad for a budget model... One point you might consider ...

I purchased my monitor in october last year by the begining of december it had broken down. No problem with that, products break and there are faults with all sorts of things not just computers. I looked up digimates website and tried to report the fault a number of times to no avail. I started calling all of the numbers on there webiste in early december 2005 thus far i have called there service, sales and main office lines a total of 12 times ...
...of the numbers giving my home, moblie and also my wifes work number. I am still awaiting a response. This product is an unreilable product with expetionally bad after sales service and I would recomend that everyone stays well clear of this company. ( The monitor is still in its box beside my computer as i write this gathering dust) ...

I bought one of these on-line from www.aria.co.uk for only £123 inc VAT + £8 postage. I ordered it Sunday evening and I was using it by Tuesday morning. It has built in speakers which are not brilliant but are OK. Picture quality is good though. A big plus is the 3 year warranty which is included in the price. Bought one of these, as my old monitor blew up, so i thought, sod it and went ahead and splashed out on 'one of these new TFT flat screens', boy am I glad i did! Fantastic for games, internet etc, the clarity is unbelivable compared to a CRT monitor! I found the on-board speakers tinny and not very goo, so went back to some good quality PC ones, and loaded up QUAKE III. Awesome! Reall good for gaming, and DVD's are great too. In summary... Great ...
...Bad sounds, use your own speakers! Oh, by the way, if you buy this from a reatiler using a 'dead pixel check' service, use it. just to be safe. If the monitor has two dead pixels, that's allowed by law and you can't send it back. Better safe than sorry :) ...
