Advantages: Price, Size, Weight, Set up Disadvantages: Display Quality, Controls, Speaker Quality, Cables
I purchased this 17" Digimate LCD monitor for my pc from Asda for £146.97 as a replacement for my old conventional monitor as I need to save some space.
I brought this display system home and was pleasantly surprised at the weight and the fact that I could take it out of the box on my own, as I have experience of other ones that are so tightly crammed with the packaging they have needed two people to remove them from the box. One to hold the box ... ...on the box descriptions.
The 17" screen is only surrounded by a slim line, so you don't have a huge surround.
The sound quality is absolutely crap and I won't dare to listen to any music using these speakers. The Windows tune is ok though, I hope that it gets to number one before Christmas and then I will be well away.
The monitor control buttons are not too simple to navigate either.
Not user friendly at all.
I would say that this monitor would ...

Advantages: space saving, good price and quality Disadvantages: non
We brought this monitor as an optional extra when we brought the new P.C, it cost us an extra £30.00 on top of the standard monitor price, so worked out about £130.00.
We have had it for several months now and had not even the slightest problem, nice looking item, we had ours in silver in black layout, very light weight, but has a surprisingly sturdy solid base, with angle adjustment.
Viewing - the screen.
Very sharp picture, good clear colour, ... ...in form as yet, and I spend hours in front of it every day.
We all play games on the P.C and the monitor, shows them just as clear as anytime, also DVD pictures are crystal clear.
Front of the screen has all the light touch controls, for picture expansion and retraction, brightness, colour and contrast adjuster and screen power off/on button.
The monitor comes complete with 2 power leads (One three pin uk type and one 2 pin European style); PSU, ...

Advantages: Good monitors if/when they work Disadvantages: Useless customer service / warranty
...weeks ago) bought a Digimate 17" monitor - two reasons, one was price and second was 3 years onsite warranty (supposedly)
Iti worked ok for a while. Great screen and good audio. Then it stopped working. I checked it out and it was actually the DC socket at fault in the back of the monitor. So I called Digimate as their warranty says.
Firstly i was asked to post back the power supply which is strange since I did say on the phone that it was the ... ...their website to which I have never had a response after over 24 hours. Just a quick auto email that says thatnks for your enquiry. And that is meant to be their support team.
Anyway I rang again and this time they said they would send a courier to pick up my monitor and check it out but they cant pick it up for 2 weeks. So I queried the so called onsite warranty only to be fobbed off with the fact that it covers only parts.
So a bit pis**d off ...

Advantages: Cheap, but still an excellent quality monitor, 12 ms response time Disadvantages: Built in speakers, monitor wobbles with the stand
I've had this monitor for quite some time now I bought it from aria.co.uk for about £130, I've used dell monitors in the past and there is no difference in quality at all, colours and picture quality are excellent. I use my pc to play games watch TV and DVD's and it's just perfect although a bit of brightness tweaking may make it look that little bit better when watching TV or DVDs. With a 12ms response time there is no ghosting on games (this is ... ...the frame rate some of the faster games require). The contrast ratio is 500-1 not bad at all for a monitor of this price it also supports resolutions up to 1280x1024, and is wall mountable.
It also includes the cable to connect the speakers to your pc but I wouldn't bother there awful I assume there designed for office use only. Another unlike able point is that of the odd designed it tends to let the monitor wobble a bit, for example if you have ...

Advantages: Lightweight, good viewing angle adjustment Disadvantages: Speakers not best quality, but workable
...home use. Using a 17" TFT at work, I found the resolution ont hat more than adequate. Research on prices on the web showed that this Digimate monitor was the most reasonable, with the right features. I was particularly attracted by the angle adjustment, and the built-in speakers.
Ordering was extremly simple - I used a company called aria - and the cost was £123 inc VAT. I had the screen delivered to my work address, which was no problem for their ... ...packaged. Configuration onto my system was easy - very much a simple plug and play, as you would expect these days. The process was simple for all levels of user - from basic to expert.
Setting the monitor up ont he desk - again very easy, with the angle adjustment. Resolution is very good - I use my PC for internet, home "office" functions but not games (so I cannot speak for that aspect). Refresh rate is good - flicker-free screen, crisp images ...

Advantages: Space Saving, Quality Disadvantages: Menu System (Sound)
I bought this screen from Aria for £140.00 about 6 months ago. I bought it for my desktop PC, switching from my old big, bulky screen to this new flat screen. I was trying to find a screen with a reasonable refresh rate, and I found this by accident and by coincidence, it was on offer. I bought it and installed it. There is an auto setup which is very handy. I can only find one problem, and this is the menu system. On most screens, the sound controls ... ...you have to go through many menus to get to the sound option. This gets annoying when the sound needs to be constantly changed. The quality and clarity of the screen is brilliant for the price. I was lucky and I didn't have any 'dead pixels'. When playing on Doom 3, I found that it was just able to cope with the constantly changing pictures. Although with normal games, it would do fine. The screen has a good solid base for it to stand on. Or alternatively, ...

Advantages: Picture Quality on Par with other Manufactures - Cheap Disadvantages: No DVI connector
I have brought this monitor for an extremely cheap cost of £58 with free delivery from a different website. Although the monitor I received was warranty replaced it worked as perfect as a new one, I have to say it is very much on the lines in regards to quality of picture and build the same as the more popular manufacturers such as HP or Dell at a price point of £100 or above. At the time of writing this review I have had this monitor for about 5 ... ...down or anything, it is still working as perfectly the day purchased it. If your monitor connector only has a DVI connection you may want to buy a DVI to VGA connector
, don\'t worry about the cost they are usually cheap or if you have purchased a video card recently the converter may have bundled with it.

Advantages: Relatively inexpensive Disadvantages: Not the slickest package on the market
...in 2002/3 with a high-price 17" Samsung that was then among the market leaders. It lasted about a week longer than the warranty. Doh! As it's a waste of time trying to repair a TFT monitor I found myself faced with an unexpected financial outlay, so I decided to replace it with a much lower-budget model - the Digimate L-1718. That was about two years ago and it's given me no problems at all and was a fantastic buy. Sure, it's stiff to tilt the screen ... ...how often do I want to change the viewing angle? Once set it just sits there, displaying. It can cope with oblique viewing, from above and the sides and is not too reflective if a strong light is behind you. The on-screen menus are easy to use (bog-standard, in fact), and I've had no problems with ghosting or poor refresh rate.
Also, it has only 1 dead pixcel (as did my expensive Samsung). Not bad for a budget model...
One point you might consider ...

Advantages: good size, lightwieght. Disadvantages: unreliable product with no exsistent service.
I purchased my monitor in october last year by the begining of december it had broken down.
No problem with that, products break and there are faults with all sorts of things not just computers.
I looked up digimates website and tried to report the fault a number of times to no avail.
I started calling all of the numbers on there webiste in early december 2005 thus far i have called there service, sales and main office lines a total of 12 times ... ...of the numbers giving my home, moblie and also my wifes work number.
I am still awaiting a response.
This product is an unreilable product with expetionally bad after sales service and I would recomend that everyone stays well clear of this company.

Advantages: Good quality monitor for the price Disadvantages: A little bit lightweight
I bought one of these on-line from www.aria.co.uk for only £123 inc VAT + £8 postage. I ordered it Sunday evening and I was using it by Tuesday morning.
It has built in speakers which are not brilliant but are OK. Picture quality is good though.
A big plus is the 3 year warranty which is included in the price. They must be confident of the quality then.
Easy to set up, straight out of the box and you're away in 10 minutes.

Advantages: Great TFT monitor, brilliant screen! Disadvantages: Sound is tinny on built in speakers.
Bought one of these, as my old monitor blew up, so i thought, sod it and went ahead and splashed out on 'one of these new TFT flat screens', boy am I glad i did! Fantastic for games, internet etc, the clarity is unbelivable compared to a CRT monitor! I found the on-board speakers tinny and not very goo, so went back to some good quality PC ones, and loaded up QUAKE III. Awesome! Reall good for gaming, and DVD's are great too.
In summary...
Great ... ...Bad sounds, use your own speakers!
Oh, by the way, if you buy this from a reatiler using a 'dead pixel check' service, use it. just to be safe. If the monitor has two dead pixels, that's allowed by law and you can't send it back. Better safe than sorry :) ...
