The principal of 192.com is very basic and simple a telephone directory combined with the electoral roll in one. Fine in principal but it has its flaws. For one most of the time you try and find a address or telephone number you get an error message saying unable to connect to .... not a problem you just try again later right? when you try again later, you find they have actually taken a credit off your account for a search you didn't even get to ...

When -in my former years- i spent time writing communications software for the early prestel users...I would have found it almost incomprehensible, that one day, one could have 42 million peoples names,addresses and phone numbers, burnt onto a compact disk, with almost limitless search facilities. As a result, you do not have to use your landline and get charged premium rate number or national rate.
