Advantages: Free, easy to understand Disadvantages: Disappearing stats and email
When I decided that I wanted a website in January 2001 I looked at a lot of web hosts but didn't have a clue what I needed and what all those technical terms meant describing the different services on offer. I'm still a bit dodgy with technical terms so this opinion has to be simplified enough for me to understand what I'm writing about.

Advantages: Free, Lots of tools, Excellent support Disadvantages: None really
After losing patience with free host Dreamwater I embarked on the unwanted journey to find another free web host for my site. I felt quite frustrated at the thoughts of this because I knew how long I had taken me to find one I thought was good. However – I guess some of that initial searching paid of because this time I was more clued up on terminology and my needs for my site.

20Megs of free webspace!
The only two free website hosting services I have used are 20m and Yahoo! geocities. 20m is far superior.
It scores over geocities in that the address yourname.20m.com is much more memorable than geocities.com/yourname. It also offers more free web space, and there is only a single banner ad at the top of your site.
Granted, it does not come with some of the razzmatazz that geocities provides - such as site statistics, ...

I joined 20m.com in 1999 and ever since, I have never had a problem with them. They offer completely free hosting, with only one advert displayed on the top of your pages.
They also offer free email addresses and web publishing tools. Not forgetting thier excellent utilities for monitoring the traffic to your site.

I started using 20m.com back in 2002 and have had no problems up until recently where there are way too many ads displayed. I do not mind the banner but every time a page is visited a new pop-up pops up.
When you sign up, you agree to receive 3rd party emails from advertising companies and acknowledge that no phone support is available
Has only CGI Formmail but no support for perl, PHP, python or SQL Databases. Only has ...
