...of which do only support 3dfx in terms of 3D acceleration.
Another point in favour of this card - it is easy and quick to fit. Unlike some other cards I have fitted into my PC, the V3-2000 snapped into place first time, the drivers loaded quickly and without fuss, and there was no need for any messing about - the first game I tried (Grand Prix Legends, which does not have Direct3D support) worked first time.
One minor quibble - I do prefer a proper ... ...you to look at a readme file - but then that's no different from many other products these days.
All in all, then, this card can be highly recommended to those with older PCs or on a smaller budget. And one positive side of 3dfx's recent problems is that it should be pretty cheap. ...

Advantages: The card of 1999-2002 Disadvantages: Not supported now, 3DFX went bust
3DFX went bust, is that another example of me getting the great stuff that fails? Surprising because I don't really remember it doing badly, I think the Voodoo one and two cards were great successes though I know spin offs such as the Hercules and Banshee series got limited attention. It must have been nVidia who got by me unnoticed, uppercutted 3DFX and sucked in their soul like Shang Tsung (bought up what they had). The first two voodoo cards were ... ...PCI versions, all made by 3DFX themselves. There is also a Voodoo 2 1000 for those on super budget. These cards have increasing clock speeds (and prices) through the series.
The budget 2000 model one is adequate enough and for the games of that era, the differences in speeds are minimal really. The 3500TV model has a television output to connect to your big screen television for higher cinema impact gaming, I'm just happy sitting up to a 14" monitor ...

Advantages: Cheap and easy to fit Disadvantages: no TV out
Ever wanted a new PC for free?? Well, i was given a Voodoo3 2000 by a friend who considered it outdated. I put into my ageing pentium 200MMX and felt like i had been given a brand spankng new PC! the difference a new graphics card makes is awesome. The Voodoo3 2000 card i was given replaced a tired 4Mb S3 graphics card I had and it was a revelation to play games like Colin Mcrae Rally, let alone use a playstation emulator.
The Voodoo3 2000 is the ... ...as even the slowest is blisteringly fast. i had a PCI version as my ageing PC does not have a AGP slot, so the available processing power was under used, so dare not guess at what a AGP version of this card can do. The only gripe i had with this card was the lack of TV output, but then again what do you want for fifty quid.
In conclusion, you only get what you pay for, so either buy a brand new PC or kickstart your old one for a very cheap £50! ...

Advantages: Reliable, fast card for under £80, easy to overclock Disadvantages: Getting a bit old in the tooth
The Voodoo 3 2000 is at the budget end of the current Voodoo graphics cards, but although it is pretty cheap that isn’t to say it is nasty. With 143Mhz clock rate and 16Mb of RAM it performs admirably and quite satisfactorily with most games. If you are playing on-line then the connection and speed of your modem is far more important than the card, so buying something much more expensive will make only a little bit of difference.

Advantages: Reasonable price+great performance Disadvantages: Compare it to the GeForce 2
I recently upgraded my computer from one with a rubbish inbuilt AGP card, with 32Mb RAM, to a great budget gamer with a Voodoo 3 2000 and 160 Mb RAM.
OK, so some of the statistics of this graphics card aren't as good as its rivals, but who cares at this price.
It may not seem incredibly cheap, but look at some similar cards, then think about it... Which other card provides this much inbuilt, and web support, with this level of performance.

It's not very often that you can say "I got a real bargain at PC World." To be blunt their prices are usually far too high when compared to companies like Novatech or Dabs direct. But check this out: a Voodoo 3 card for £49.99 , wow, is that a bargain or what?
I bought one of these cards to replace my old, rather slow Voodoo2 card. It was extremely easy to install, the driver CD even included a video of the installation. The documentation was clear ... ...included with the package, but for fifty quid I can live without free games.
I know that this card is no longer cutting edge, but if like me you are into games like Quake3 and Unreal Tournament the Voodoo3 kicks some serious bottom. Buy one before they run out. ...

I therefore put 3dfx to the old computer section and only to be bought to give life to older computers. The card is alright if you have smaller monitors but it is useless on bigger screens.
I heard lately that 3dfx are stopping in their production of cards , they must have realised they do not have the horsepower to keep up with the big boys of 3d entertainment. ...

...cost. Secondly theres the old 3dfx problem of none of the Voodoo 3 range of cards being able to do 32 bit colour, they are only capable of 24 bit colour so even though in a game you set it to 32 bit it actually only manages 32 bit.
My overall opinion of this card is as follows. I think that this is possibly the card to go for for the PCI version in older systems with no AGP slot however in machines with AGP slots, better options can be made for ...

Advantages: cheap Disadvantages: not as fast as the more expensive cards
This card is supported by most games on the market and set a standard for 3D acceleration. Many other companies have used the Voodoo chipset on their video cards like, Creative Labs, Diamond, and even ATI. The card does not support 32bit color in games but does support 16bit. Accelerated 32bit color support for games is a standard on most cards today. Some other important features of this video card are Alpha-Blending, SPSC (single pass, single cycle) ... ...It also does sub-pixel and sub-texel correction. It supports MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 playback and has the patented single-pass multi-textured 3D rendering. Being one of the first high end AGP accelerators it has been surpassed as the best but it is still a very good card for any home computer and makes a great gift for any gamer needing a good accelerator. The price of this card, however, has not dropped much since it's introduction over a year ago and ...

voodoo3 2000 is a very good graphics card i bought mine last christmas and have had no problems whatsoever, Some games are a little jerky if you only have a low processor i have a 120 chip in my machine ,The likes of unreal on my system are jerky but you do get full effects from the card it works well with tomb raider, even on mine i would recommend buying voodoo 3 2000 games react in different ways to it some slow down and some speed up .depends ...
Advantages: CHEAP AS HELL! OPENGL! Disadvantages: Obviously gets eaten alive by the latest (and most expensive) cards.
I've had my voodoo3 for over a year. I bought it dirt cheap and now it's even cheaper. I had a p200 at the time.
I had a voodoo2. Why did I buy this then? well for the opengl. It meant that accelerated 3D studio max was possible. Also, this card still has some of the fastest 2D on the planet. It CAN be compared to a Geforce2 in this department. Not all of us consider this.
And... for those without an AGP slot will definately benefit from a card ... ...uses PCI.
Since then, things have changed. I built myself a pc using bits and pieces from my old p200. I now use a p2-466. Guess what is wowing me all over again? Yes... the voodoo3. I decided not to upgrade after seeing quake3 800x600 @ 85fps... awesome.
Recently, I reccomended this card to a friend. He's well happy. It can be bought between 40 - 60 quid. A far cry from a Geforce2 for nearly 300. Those with slower processors between 200 and 400 ...

...Mystique + Orchid Righteous 3D 3DFX 1 i looked againn at 3dfx. Buying the cheapest one, i took it home, tried it out but Alas! any direct3D game wouldn't work. The problem? the 3dfx disc didn't remove the entry sayiong "for direct3d use the voodoo1 card, not primary video". Tech support were useless - eventually i found an .inf file off the net, which sorted things out. Finally i could play games, and i was amazed at how much faster they ran. Unfortunately prolonged play caused the temperature inside my machine to skyrocket, which i solved by getting on eof those fans that takes up a blanking plate for about a fiver. Review of 3Dfx Voodoo3 2000
Advantages: Fast for most games Disadvantages: Glide crashes your system...
I`ve had this card for about 8 months now, and despite acceptable all-round performance, I have one remaining niggle about it`s biggest strength...
Glide (3dfx`s proprietry gfx standards) works beautifully smoothly on even a lowly AMD K6-2 350Mhz, but one problem has never been solved despite updating the drivers for it as soon as a new set comes out. My PC is not fast enough to push this card to it`s full, so for anything up to say a 500Mhz processor, ... ...it.
If you are playing a game in glide, and anything wants to bring the desktop "forward" (reconnecting to the net automatically forces this), it has a horrible problem with crashing the entire machine, forcing you to reboot the machine (ctrl-alt-del does not recover the situation).
DirectX does not suffer from the same problem, so although it`s slower, I find myself forced to use it to keep my machine running when I run a glide-capable game like ...

The Voodoo 3 2000 PCI was an ideal upgrade for me and it has definitely lengthened the life of my PC.
