Now that 3dfx have sold their assets to nVidia the future of Voodoo looks uncertain. A shame, because 3dfx produced excellent graphics cards, one of which being the Voodoo 3 3000 (PCI).
The installation was very easy. You get a video tutorial on the CD of how to put the card in. After putting the card in the machine you just need to run the CD to install drivers and software that the card needs to run - the program does all of this for you. Remember ... ...exactly what was included. The 3dfx software which controls the card allows you to change gamma values and a few other options, but not much else.
Another problem is getting driver updates. The 3dfx site has now closed down, and the only places I could find drivers for this card were on unofficial sites.
Having said that, this is a worthy investment and the price is very reasonable. If you buy the PCI version of this card just remember that you ...

Everyone's heard of 3DFX haven't they? The Voodoo3, while not the latest in a long line of quality cards, and by no means the most powerful available, is still selling well because the support and compatibility are both excellent.
The Voodoo3 3000 16Mb AGP is another example as to why - up until recently - 3DFX were leaders in their chosen field. The Card installs without major problems and can pretty much be used straight away, however I would ... ...from 3DFX.com just to be on the safe side.
Shop around, and you can pick up a new card with TV out, for around £60. They're excellent vlue for money and work brilliantly with the AMD processors. Everyone I know has, or has had, this exact same card, and they're universally recommended.
Newer, more powerful cards are available, but they're £100 or more. I'll stick with my Voodoo until it dies on me I think. ...

I was struggling for performance, and I needed to improve the graphic, I had a very bad FPS on all games, and even then the quality was set on the lowest, so i saved up and bought my self a Voodoo 3 3000 card, and it is brilliant, I am now getting about 4-5 times the FPS I was getting before, and the resolution was much better, I can run all games on 1024*928 with a reasonable FPS, there are no problems with this crad that I can find, just that if ... ...disable this properly, if you don't disable it you will not be able to use your nice High Performance card, and trust me, it is well worth the money, if you have a spare £150 get this as your next addon, it is very cheap, and comes with some very good instructions. ...

We figured out that the voodoo card had taken a dislike to my soundblaster live card, but was never solved by any of the extremely qualified experts.
I know what you're thinking. You're thinking 'he can't have tried everyhing', I tried everything and everyone.
The system works fine in general, but is useless for playing any games ... ...by nVidia is the best thing that could have happened to 3DFX. In the newer system I have a nVidia TNT2 Riva (about half price of the 3000) which is better quality, faster and about the most stable thing I have seen. My next investment will be in a geforce 2 I think.

the voodoo3 3000 is an excellent choice for PCI users. This card produces fast clear and defined graphics with little jumping between frames. The software that comes with the card is simple to understand and easy to install. The whole set up only took 5 minutes. This card runs alongside my existing on board graphics card without any conflictions. The voodoo 3 3000 is compatiable with most new games, the only exceptions being delta force and the new ... ...easily with most modern games. I bought this product from www.buy.com and it arrived within 2 days. I choose this service because of the cheap price

As an owner of the voodoo 3 2000 pci I was interested to see what the difference between these two cards was. I have seen what it can do in an identical machine to mine and I'll be honest - you'll be hard pushed to see where your extra money is going. It does cope slightly better at times keeping up a very good frame rate on many games but bearing in mind that the cost of this card is DOUBLE that of the 3-2000 I don't see how you can justify spending ... ...voodoo 3 2000 (very easy, excellent software) and it is a very good quality card. My advice though is save yourself £50 and go for the voodoo 3 2000 (pci or agp) because unless you run a benchmark program you're probably not going to notice enough of a difference to warrant the extra cash. ...

Advantages: None that I, or many others, have found. Disadvantages: Many incompatability issues with older hardware. Very poor drivers and limited support.
Being a great fan of the Voodoo² chipset (I had a Creative Labs Voodoo²), I went out and bought the Voodoo³ 3000 card shortly after it was released. Installation of the card was a bit troublesome since I had to alter alot of the bios on my Gigabyte BX motherboard to actually get the card to run (I had to reduce the AGP aperture size down to a measly 32Mib, seriously reducing any capabilities it may have possessed). And the problems didn't end there, ... ...play many of my games, and so hours were spent on web forums seeking advice from other 'misfortunates' who had bought the card. Even when I had got the games to run the performance of the Voodoo³ 3000 was just about better than the Voodoo² card in my older machine!
Luckily enough I was able to return the card to the computer store where I had bought it ,claiming incompatability with my hardware, and they were very understanding since they had many ...

...of this card just before 3dfx were bought over by Nvdia, to replace the rather-useless-for-games 1mb ATI model which came with my old PC back in 1995. Adding this card appears to have been a real boost the the system as a whole, and all but the newest/most graphics intensive games run fine (The Sims etc run no problem) - despite the system only having a 300mhz processor. If your computer is getting on a bit and cant take an AGP card or came with ... ...look on ebay (due to 3dfx going bust second hand is about all you'll get). The card itself is extremely easy to set up/install - open the box, take out your old card, put the new one in and run the included CD. Speed is a real boost to any computer with integrated graphics, but obviously not quite to the level of a more modern AGP card, and I've never had any problems with stability.
