..."rebound" headache). This is where 4Head comes in, a new "natural" treatment for tension headaches that offers an alternative to taking tablets.
4Head is a little white stick about the size of a lipstick that comes in a lurid pink box (available from Boots, Superdrug, pharmacies and supermarkets). Small and light enough to fit easily into a bag or pocket, the idea behind this product is that when you feel a tension headache coming on, you whip it ... ...headache. The active ingredient in 4Head is a form of mint known as levomenthol that has a mild local anaesthetic action (it is also used in Vick's Vaporub and Strepsils for this property). It is the levomenthol that produces the cooling effect, and relaxes the muscles and blood vessels around the temples that have tensed up during the headache. It is also thought to somehow target the pain receptors in the brain, although it is not clear how this ...

...Boots and picked up some 4head for £5.99 – bit steep but was in too much pain to care!
It comes in a small tube about 2 ½ inches long and contains a glossy white stick – looks a bit like a dry stick deodorant to me. # 4head #
4head is a brilliant new concept for the treatment of headaches. I myself suffer with Migraine, and when I find a product that works, I feel it only fair to share the knowledge with other sufferers.
# So what is 4head? #
4head is a natural headache treatment. Unlike usual headache medicines, it is non oral, and is applied directly to the forehead. It works quickly when taken at the onset of a headache. It contains Levomenthol which creates ... ...the pain signals intensity.
4head is a natural painkiller and is very effective. 100% Levomenthol, which relaxes muscles in the head, and numbs the pain.
#How to apply 4head# It is a twist and turn applicator, cased like a lipstick. Just swipe it across your forehead several times, and that's it. As soon as you have done this, you will feel a tingling sensation then a cooling effect and very quickly you will feel the pain subsiding.

Someone mentioned 4head to me one day just as I was beginning to get sick of having to lie down in the dark every day to try and shift the pain. With nothing to lose, I scoured the pharmacy shelves for it the next time I was in the supermarket. I had heard it was around a fiver, but I wasn't too worried if it was going to work.

Researching the website, 4head is designed for tension headaches. Personally I can never tell which type of headache I am going to get so it's pot luck whether this will work.
As with any medication you should always read the label before use, ...

4Head Headache relief…..
I have always been a fairly headachey person getting one or more headaches per week. I have always had no trouble in popping a few pills to stop the headache (you could probably hear me rattle sometimes!). However one day a few months back I was at work and my headache was so bad even after taking a couple of strong Paracetamol tablets I decided to pop into the chemist next door and pick up one of these.
I was surprised ... ...Once on the skin the 4Head does not feel in the slightest bit greasy and you would never know it is there. Until of course a few seconds after application, when both the smell and the tingly feeling start to become apparent (this is where on my first application I realised I had put too much on as I was unable to open my eyes because the vapour was so strong). The smell of the product is a very strong menthol aroma, which I guess, comes from it being ...

...6 months ago for the 4Head analgesic stick that is applied like a Pritt stick across the forehead, made the usual, "That sounds good" comment and then never actually did any more to find out how it worked, if it was suitable for me etc. I figured that if I bought some tablets downtown, I'd need to spend a £1 on bottled water as well and so I decided to see if it was worth me getting a stick of 4Head instead.

... ...So, I whipped out the 4Head stick (it is indeed like a very small Pritt stick. The actual "stuff" is crystal-white in colour, hard, dry and whiffs faintly of mint), discarded the instructions and liberally applied 4Head to my forehead expecting instant relief. 4head retails at a whopping £5.99 for 3.6 grams whilst I can get 16 Hedex Extra for £1.99. On the plus side, it will last for ages and the expiry date is not until 2006. It's a very handy size ... ...As the active ingredient in 4head is levomenthol (and yes it does smell rather minty), shortly after applying there will be a pleasant tingling sensation in that area. This is followed by a numbing sensation as the pain-killing bit kicks in. The skin will also feel much much colder to the touch, but it's not an unpleasant feeling.
