Dontcha just hate it when you stick your money in a vending machine only to suddenly notice the almost itsy-bitsy, totty wee light that tells you that your favoured choice of (in this case, soft drink) is no longer available?
Well let's face it, nobody in their right mind is going to opt for 7UP if there's Irn Bru to be had...or even Coke/Pepsi/Fanta etc. Still, at least it's wet, and if the machine isn't completely goosed, cold. Besides, have you ... ...of the blurry machine? It's far, far easier to get troops out of Iran...oops, Iraq.
So what do you get for your hard earned 50p?
You gets a can of lime and lemon flavoured, sugar loaded, carbonated water, that's what you gets.
Y'know, for years I thought 7UP was just a fancy type of lemonade. I didn't even know there was lime in it. I mean, I knew there was something else apart from just lemon flavour...something that gave it a nasty tang that ...

...is a review on the 7-Up Regular drink.
Occasionally, especially in summer, I enjoy a cool soft drink. One of my favourites is _7-Up_. Gasp! Why 7-Up? It doesn't tend to be that fashionable these days. Well, it is partly the taste and partly because of what it has in it. As far as _fizzy_ soft drinks go, I think it is quite a healthy choice. Today, I was quite pleased to see that they were on special offer at _Instore_. To be quite honest I think ... ...now called 7-Up.
_The 7-Up Regular contains - _
NO preservatives
NO colouring
NO caffeine
NO aspartame
You can now buy a _7-Up Free_ that does not contain any sugar, so I would guess that it has the artificial sweeteners.
In the United States the rights of the brand are held by the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group and by PepsiCo in the rest of the world.
Their target market is for adults from the ages of 25 - 49 (who comes up with these figures?). ...

Advantages: Good thirst quenching flavour Disadvantages: price
It just shows how our taste buds change as we grow older (well mine anyway), as a young boy I always thought of 7Up as a lemonade. Looking back it was partly my fault as I never looked closely at the can and therefore what it in fact is. That being a Lemon and Lime flavoured soft drink.
I am no longer that little chap who enjoyed this and many other drinks by throwing them down my throat quicker than some premiership strikers fall in the penalty ... ...pass my taste buds. Maybe a sign of old age.
7Up as I said is a Lemon and Lime flavoured soft drink, the taste of lime is present although it is not overpowering it does mask the lemon. The somewhat drier taste of lime (a taste that causes my mouth to salivate freely) is present, I don't know how I missed this when I was younger. However it is a drink that really does quench the thirst. A lot of fizzy drinks tend to leave me either feeling thirsty ...

Still going through the Morrison's offer pop, still with 3 to try (annoyingly that'll mean I need to buy 4 bottles) 7UP (this review), Lilt, and Tango (Orange flavour), with this being the first I'll be honest I'm kinda up for this one.
7Up is the Britvic rival to the Coca-Cola “Sprite” drink, which is a direct competitor as they are both “Lemon and Lime flavoured” fizzy drinks. This drink comes in an “All Green” uniform (or bottle to the uninitiated), ... ...and green label. A rather attractive bottle design, though it doesn't make the recognising of the colour of the drink difficult (so lets assume it's transparent just to make life easier). Whilst Sprite was a relative disappointment, leading me into drinking the glorious and much cheaper Morrison's branded Lemonade. I'm privately hoping 7UP won't disappoint in the same way as an over priced and very average drink. As lets be honest, with Coca-Cola ...

Ever since I was little my family has had lemonade and I've always had it when my tummy feels a little upset. Since having a stomach bug last summer this seems to happen quite often so I like to have a 500ml bottle with me when I'm out and about. When I went to Tesco today I expected to see only Sprite in the chiller, but to my delight next to this was 7up. I have a very vague, fond memory of drinking 7up as a child, and my brothers drawing cartoons ... ...bottles. I remember it being pretty much the only 'young' commercialised lemonade brand at around 1996...did Sprite even exist then? I don't know. Infact, 7up is a different type of lemonade as it is actually lemon and lime flavoured. I had never really paid much attention to this or noticed it until now.

~Water!~
Delving into my fridge after a de-hydrating night of heavy drinking, I am pleased to discover the glowing green shimmer of a cool bottle of 7up, nestled between two lettuces on the bottom shelf of my fridge. “To hell with the water” I thought as I reached for the bottle.

The label displayed a large red dot between a “7" and an “up”. My thirst was undescribable. I could drink “7" “down” in “7" seconds given the chance.
~Quick Release~
I began to unscrew the bottle, with the little strength I had left from my exhausting night. The bottle fizzed and the gas was released, with the aromatic smell of lemon and lime. My nose told my mouth the good news of what to expect.

The last few days I've not been out very far as I've been feeling a bit poorly with a chest infection. But this morning I had an appointment with the Doctor and on the way stopped off at the shop for a drink. For some reason my mouth felt like the bottom of a bird cage. It could be that I didn't have a cup of tea first thing! Anyway, as I hadn't had a 7UP for such a long time I thought this is what I would buy.

Advantages: Nice Disadvantages: Not for some older people
...the list goes on, with 7-up also coming next...but what is it that clearly distinguishes 7-up from the others? Well, some would argue that there IS no clear difference from it's main similarity rival, the more succesful Sprite by the coca cola company, and I too would argue that they are both very similar, although I am pretty confident that I would be able to take, and pass the sprite - 7-up test...although I have never taken it.
Another product ... ...ther is, in one group, 7-up and Sprite, and in another group, mountain dew.
But is Sprite yet another attempt to gain the fickle publics money through a worn - out cliche? I think that yes, it is, although to be honest I like the taste of 7-up, so they have my vote! But then I always was one to fall for those chemically made factory produced drinks with pathetic naziistic propaganda style advertisig ploys. Count me in!
But I forget, this is not ...

Advantages: Great thirst quencher, nice taste. Disadvantages: None of note
No, not quite magnificent, but do you know something… this drink is pretty damn nice. Here is a little poem for this fine drink:
Oh 7-Up, you are like a forgotten pup,
Let me take you in my arms,
And have a sup
Of your fine tasting drink, me thinks.
Lemon and Lime, so fine in deed.
Of your taste, my taste buds need.
That’s enough.
I rediscovered this soft drink recently and the taste both enraptures and enthrals the taste buds ... ...or too thick and syrupy. In fact it is just right.
So, what do you get? You can pay around fifty pence max for 7 Up, but can also get four for a pound in some bargain shops. The size on can is the standard 330ml.
It is packaged in it famous green with red and white emblem and the contents are described as being a lime and lemon beverage.
The ingredients include carbonated water, sugar, lots of Es and flavourings.

Advantages: No artificial colourings, real lemon and lime flavour, refreshing chilled Disadvantages: None
Flavour:
7-UP is one of these drinks released into a soft drinks market which just could not go wrong. Lemon is always a taste preferred by many for its refreshing qualities, 7-UP does not use what I would call a cheap ‘lemon sherbert’ sweet taste; instead it has a fresh zesty taste. This zingy drink is very much along the lines of the conventional lemonade but is still my preferred tipple after a long walk on a hot day.
Natural:
More ... ...naturally? I would not advertise 7-UP as being a perfect replacement for water, but I would say it is a good way of weaning children off drinks with colourants, with all those E-numbers. Even for adults trying to drink 8 glasses of water it can be a little bland, to a certain extent you could liven it up with 7-UP and not jeopardize totally your need for something healthy.
Health:
7-UP is one of those drinks to contain a source of phenylanine, ...

OK I admit it I'm bored, I've had 4 days off work and due to my spending earlier in the month I couldn't afford to go back to my parents (well I could get there, but coming back would be a problem with no petrol in the car- believe me i considered it). So looking around my room while considering the idea of tidying it and cleaning it, well thats just silly, so after moving some bags from my shopping trip last week (yeah I know lazy) I found the bags ... ...bottles of 7up, as it was on offer at the Londis in the village. Ok so i know the village convenience store is not as cheap as the supermarket but they cost me £1.50 for the two so not too bad, but I would normally wait until I do my main shopping before buying this kind of thing where it would be cheaper, but as people may know about me my only loyalty is to the vodka, the dilutant is whatever was cheapest at the time.
So the bottle itself is a ...

...think most people know what 7-up is. For those of you who do not know, it is a lemon and lime, clear fizzy drink.
The Packaging:
You can buy 7-up in loads of different quantities. You can get the normal size cans (330ml), a small plastic bottle (500ml) and a large bottle (2ltr). The can it comes in is like most other cans!! 7-up is an old hand in the drinks business and over the years has tweaked and changed the taste. I chose to write about it now because the taste is at its best! After a long hard day at work, school or a recreational activity you need to quench your need for a drink and in my view 7-up has to be the best way to do so.
It is roughly 50p for a regular can and a couple of pounds for a litre bottle which is hardly going to put a huge ... ...them over in my view of taste. 7-up is also endorsed by extreme sports organisations and is associated with the youth culture. However this is not quite true, as Coke is a very popular drink for all ages, 7-up is its main rivals and appeals to all ages, especially me! ...
