95.8 FM Capital Radio

I used to think Capital FM was the bees knees. The idea of a radio Station for London is a great one. Howver, over the past couple of years the selection of music has gone completely downhill. If you're into current pop-chart music only, then that's ok - Capital is probably fine. But as to playing anything a little more grown up, forget it. In fact, even the selection of chart music they choose to play is pretty limited and seem to pick out just ...
...over and over again. If you are lucky enough to get on their playlist then you could probably retire from your royalties, and you're likely to get played at least once every 2 hours from what I have heard. It's a real shame because they like to think they are the radio station for the Capital, but the music just isn't representative of the population of London; age-wise if nothing else. The problem with Capital Fm, is that it is desperately trying to keep up with other stations like Kiss fm, Radio 1 and various pirate stations. It has always had listeners of all ages, but now it is trying to gently nudge the older listeners away and make it a young, 'hip' station. I must stress, I myself am actually 16... and not impressed. As the title says 'Capital', its based in London and broadcasts to London and the surrounding areas. But living in Hampshire I can still pick up a very good signal. Radio presenters include Chris Tarant who has the breakfast show and is abit crazy but doesn't have any sidekicks unlike some radio shows. Chris Tarrant has the right personality and voice for a DJ, but can get under your skin sometimes when he starts mouthing off some narrow-minded opinion. However, this doesn't happen often. 95.8 is one of the best radio stations around. When you go abroad you realise how lucky we are to have good quality radio stations. With DJs such as Chris Tarrant, Margherita Taylor and Steve Penk it is one of the best stations around. 95.8 organised Party In The Park which was a huge success and raised a large amount of money for charity. There's no other station for the London area in the mornings! I guess the main rival would be Radio 1...but Zoe Ball was pretty annoying and Sara Cox is enough to make me kick the radio. There are adverts every 15 minutes, news every half an hour, traffic reports goodness knows how often, and oh yes....the music (which either gets cut short with the DJ talking over it or the same songs are overplayed) I once heard the same song played 3 times in one day. I always listen to the capital FM breakfast show with chris tarrant. He is so funny and keeps up a good banter with russ boy and others. If I was always in the situation I am in now, I would not be able to fault it. I am working full time in a call centre and obviously it would be very unprofessional to have the radio on.
