Advantages Advantages Multi-Tasking, Will Run Nearly All Aplications without a fuss

Disadvantages Disadvantages Temp Could be a problem, Slightly sluggish on very high end Apps

This processor is good compromise for a person who wants a high end processor but doesn't want to pay the high price. Combined with a good system this little guy will run most games very well, however if you don't have a sound card and are using your motherboard's integrated sound expect a slight drop in performance. At rest my system's temp is about 30 degrees Celsius, but peaks up to 37-40 during heavy use. Temp is however very dependent on the layout of the PC and will depend a lot on how many fans you have and/or use water cooling. I have two computers with this chip and I find that it is ... more

    5 Stars Quick review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 / 2.6 GHz processor by sui785 23/10/2007
Very good processor. Handles everything fast, also cheaper than equivalent Intel Core 2's. I bought it 2 months ago and never had any complaints. I recommend this to every new pc builder!

Advantages Advantages Fast, Quiet And Most Of All Cool

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

A very fast processor that comes with AMD Cool N Quiet Drivers for your motherboard. I personally find the cpu temperature is around 29 Degrees Celcius at its hottest. The dual core capability makes u able to set affinity for programs, so if you wanted to do a virus scan, you could set it to CPU 0, and meanwhile set all programs you need to CPU 1, therefore no speed is lost. On the whole, as a computer builder, i have bought about 50 of these so far, and will continue to do so until a faster processor hits the shelves. The installation was very easy, as with usual, it was just a clamp to hold ... more

Advantages Advantages very good for multitasking

Disadvantages Disadvantages not as good for games

i upgraded this system form my intel celeron d which i must admit is one of the slowest and most annoying processors on the market. i clearly found that this system was better and much faster especially for multi tasking.Amd have really raised the bar on this product and i am very happy to say that i was satisfied with its perfomance. however when it came to playing games like battlefeil which reall need good proccessors i found it a a bit slow . i foun that the reaction was slower than my expectation even though Amd boast of the clock speed. overall i thot that it was good for the money i ... more

Advantages Advantages support virtualization in linux, multi-threading, fast desktop application

Disadvantages Disadvantages could improve linux support improving throttling

i am using this cpu to run a linux home server. it supports virtualization, so if you want to run other OS (windows, linux, MacX ) on top of linux you can.. and you have plenty of cpu to use for your office stuff. very good value-for-money in my view. but make sure you buy ddr2 memory of the same frequency as this cpu. works very quiet and cool; i like listening to music and it very sharp. i do not do games, thus would not know how it performs but it works great on my databases and java programmes... since i use linux i have no need to keep a cpu for running anti-virus scan, and this is just a ... more
