    I was searching the web for insurance for my wife's latest car, but they were all coming up expensive. The prices were ranging from around £176 to around £220. This was for fully comprehensive with no claims or convictions, and the car parked on the driveway of our house at night, with my wife as the only driver.     We insured our car with AXA last year and protected the no-claims bonus for the first time. We chose AXA because they offered the best deal at the lowest price, but when my husband had an accident we were very glad that we had chosen them. Luckily nobody was hurt and our car was only very slightly damaged, however, extensive damage was caused to another vehicle, and as my husband was in the wrong we claimed on our insurance.     Axa.com offers a very flexible way of choosing your insurance. There are the main laborious questions to make your way through at first, however, all sites are like this so it can't be seen as a disadvantage. The site uses drop down menus, yes/no answers and a few text questions. Within a few minutes you're onto the final page where the site shows its advantages. You have the option to change the excess / see what difference having various options have and cost, the cost of getting extra cover, insuring your no claims.     my experience as a policyholder was shortlived but only because their quote was not competetive. The problem with insurance companies is that, if you do not meet their current criteria, they do not really want your business and scare you away with high permiums. It matters not whether you are a good risk or not. My other experience was at the other end.(one of their cutomers shunted me) I claimed from them directly which is something insurance companies do not like since they lose their knock for knock benefits.     When I crashed my car in April last year, I feared the worst in making my first claim after 10 years of insurance. However, it took only three phone calls and 10 days to sort out the claim, have my written off car assessed, collected and the cheque to arrive. The service I received from the company was excellent throughout, and, having worked in a call centre for a major bank, I rated it higher than perhaps any other company I have dealt with on the phone.     I was disappointed when I received my renewal notice from AXA to see that it had gone up quite a bit on lasts year. So I began the usual ringing around trying to get a better deal. After ringing a few places I did manage to bring my premium down by about £30 which wasn’t to bad then I got to thinking have I ever really heard of some of these company’s? What will happen if half way through the year the company goes bust? At least I can’t imagine that happening with them.     When I passed the test, I wanted to get insurance from AXA as it famous and a big football name for the FA cup. to my dissapointed when i wrang the company they didn't ask me for my age until they took a few details of me. I was 18 at the time. When they asked me for my age, which I told them I was 18, they said ( sorry we don't insure drivers your age, but we can help you by transferring u to a different company that will insure you).     This year I was going to be charged nearly £1300.00 for my current car insurance and that was for me alone, So I decided to shop around I went to AXA and ask for a quote, I was amazed when they quote me and my wife £600.00, it means that I now have £700 to spend on better things for myself and my family. I really can not belive that for a few hours of shopping around I could save myself so much. I really rate this company and will with no hesitation be renewing my policy next year with them.
