Advantages: Great story line Disadvantages: The changing time scale
...1972. It the story of a 10 year old girl in a close knit neighbourhood. The basic outline of the story is the murder of a 12 year old boy and the reactions of the neighbourhood. The young girl keeps a notebook and records everything she sees, with disasterous consequences. Another line in the story is the break-up of her parents when her father runs off with her mother's sister. Overall the book is very dark. I have not read a book before where I ... ...the murder. I found it a little confusing but it gets better towards the end. The ending left me feeling as though I had missed something, it was not completely satisfying. Then I suppose it would not of fitted in with the rest of the book if it had been given a happy ending. I would read this book again because it is one of those books where only a second reading will give you deeper understanding. ...
