EEEE- Banking with Abbey

Advantages: Easy, fast
Disadvantages: Not brilliantly laid out

...most people will now know Abbey National has now become Abbey. The banking service is just as good since the name change if not a little better. I registered for online banking when I was sixteen. I'd had my account for twelve years by then. I had found all the services I used from Abbey to be safe and reliable. Living in the sticks I rarely visited my local branch as it was a twenty mile, fourty minute bus journey with unreliable services. I wanted ...
...first. I went to the Abbey homepage and clicked on the Online Banking link. The page informs you that there are three main ways to register; in a branch (far too far for me); at a cash point (the only ones near me weren't bank machines and charged, i doubted they'd provide this service) or over the telephone (AHA!) I rung the telephone number provided, admittedly the service wasn't great - they took a long time to answer and the on hold music was ...

Hassle-free online banking

Advantages: check account balances and details, transfer money, pay bills online
Disadvantages: you don't get to chat to other customers while waiting in a queue

...current and savings accounts with Abbey National for many years now. Initially there was a small branch within a few minutes' walk from our home, but unfortunately that closed down, and while most transactions happen automatically, it was a bit of a nuisance having to drive four or five miles to an Abbey branch if we needed to do anything out of the ordinary. Telephone banking was all very well in theory, but any time we tried to use the service ...
...delighted with the introduction of Abbey National online banking. We were already somewhat used to secure online transactions, and while I had initial reservations about having our entire bank account online, their promises of security were sufficiently reassuring to encourage us to sign up. This proved to be simple: we spoke to someone at the branch, and they arranged for our accounts to become available online, connected to my debit card. We were ...

Get Into the Abbey e-Habit!

Advantages: Easier than others I have used, easy to register
Disadvantages: None

...been banking with Abbey, formerly Abbey National now for years. Their branch service is wonderful, and all positions are nearly always open, meaning I never have to queue, unlike my other bank, NatWest, where the queuing times are hurrendous. Abbey, always seen as the scruffier of the big banks has recently changed itself into the bright, jargon free and friendlier bank on the high street, with branches all over the country in nearly every area ...
...much, do I bank with Abbey on-line? Simple. Because I dont have to leave the house! Read on to find out my other reasons! ~How do I register?~ If you bank with Abbey, you can register by phoning their telephone banking service. You can also register in the branch, or, the easiest and quickest of the lot, at the Abbey cash machine. These are located outside all of their branches, outside supermarkets and on retail prks and in shopping centres. ...

Online Banking. Delivered...with Complications.

Advantages: Makes life easier
Disadvantages: Poor navigation; Unprofessional site; slow

...I took advantage of Abbey National’s online banking facility as soon as I’d heard they had one. No more waiting in telephone queues and talking to a Scottish lass (although, I do admittedly miss that sometimes – lovely accent); no more waiting in queues at one of the high street branches; having access to my account anytime I wanted; being able to juggle my money around without feeling embarrassed by my list of requests when phoning ...
...requested internet access to your Abbey National accounts, the kind staff will then send you a registration number and password – both of which can be changed when you first enter the site and log on, to something that you’re more likely to remember. THE SITE Err…well…I would say not particularly professional looking and would probably need changing in the near-future (I have seen other online banking websites which look, ...

Internet banking with Abbey national

Advantages: lots of options, fairly stable, seems secure
Disadvantages: slow at times, not very easy to use

...a normal banking customer of Abbey National for about 10 years and as a computer industry professional was eager to try thier e-banking service as soonas it came out. So how is it? Well the service has been very useful indeed as I can keep much better track of my finances and even move money around so it is in the best place for interest. The service has a cumbersome interface but it works most of the time and I am sure will improve with time. ...
...been based upon what is offered via a service till at present (Apart form drawing out money...) but with extra services as well. Security is obviously a big concern but the login procedure require 3 seperate numbers and seems a pain at first but you soon remember them and then you see the benefit that it would be almost impossible to crack. As whole it is a useful and fairly easy to use service although it needs improvement if they are to gain ...

life is getting more complicated by the day

Advantages: polite
Disadvantages: simple tasks take weeks

...exactly what has happened with Abbey National. I've had a current account with them for over 7 years. I was happy with the service, until recently. 4 weeks ago I asked my local branch that I want to be registered for eBanking. I was told it would take 6 days for the process to be mailed to me. I hasten to add that it did not happen, on the 10th day, I contacted by local branch by phone and said that it will be with me by the following week. I hasten ...

Great esaver account with high interest

Advantages: high interest rate, can link to checking account
Disadvantages: cannot deposit/withdraw money via branch; have to use ATM

...opened an esaver account with Abbey National and was amazed at the high rate of interest (7% gross) with instant access to your money - one of the best deals around at the moment with little commitment. I originally heard about the esaver as i opened a student account with them. E-saver account

Advantages: Excellent rate of interest, good web site, easy to set up
Disadvantages: Bonus paid only for 6 months

I have just opened Abbey's e-saver account which gives a rate of interest of 7% gross which includes a bonus of 1% for the first 6 months. As its name suggests the account is an Internet only account. I have found the account very easy to set up and the web site is clear and well-organised with quick access. I have yet to encounter any technical hitches. It is designed as an instant access SAVINGS account so I am using it as a place for spare ...
...keep my eye on the bonus and if that is discontinued after 6 months, as I expect it to be, I will move my funds elsewhere. Moving accounts every 6 months obviously involves hassle but banks rely on customers' inertia to make their money. If largere sums of savings are involved then movement can be worthwhile. ...

Quick review of Abbey Online Banking

Up th this month I have always been happy about e-banking, but when I went to make a payment that I have been doing so for the past two plus years found that I was unable to access. I now have to pay a late charge and arrange to make my payment by old fashioned but nevertheless reliable cheque! Not what I would call progress. I am also going to make a claim against them for the late charge as it is due to their ineffcient service! ...

Recently gone online...

Advantages: Good online system
Disadvantages: Non-link cashpoints you pay £1 to use!

Abbey National is one of those banks that still have the aura of being a building society. However, I've been with them for a while now using their instant savers, and I've found them to be very good. The staff are always helpful and quick to respond. They often try to help you, for example, recently recommended I use an ISA for some of my cash. I have a card for accessing my instant account, and another to access a joint account, which is also VISA ...
...the other link machines. Other machines though cost £1 to use! I've recently joined their online system, and it allows transfer of money between accounts instantly, as well as the usual balance check. There's also the provision to setup direct debits from online. The site is well designed and works well - no problems yet. This means I can have my money in a high interest account and transfer it to my VISA account to buy things online when required. ...

Disadvantages: None as long as you keep your passwords ect...secure

...their flexibility and their choice. Abbey National are well ahead of the rest in my opinion and have a plethora of services to satisfy most bamking needs. One thing that really impresses me about the Abbey... is their online banking service...which I use on a regular basis. Its layout and simplicity of use makes it a must for anyone who is seriously thinking of using what is thought of by most as a rather dubious facility. I feel satisfied that ...
