Acer AL1916S

I recently purchased this monitor as a replacement for my ailing 19 inch Iiyama CRT, which has been hogging my desk for some 4 years and has pretty much died. I got mine from Ebuyer.com which also sells the widescreen model (oddly at a marginally lower price). First impressions upon arrival were favourable. Lifting the screen is a positive boon compared to the monstrously heavy CRT equivalent for the same size screen. I wanted to replace my old CRT and started to look into which screen to get. Firstly I looked at standerd 4:3 aspect ratio screens but was atracted to widescreens because I could watch movies on it without wasting screen space also the idea of veiwing two windows at once interested me. The only problem I had with widescreens was the price. Most retail at a higher price than normal 4:3 ratio screens. As I looked at the many screens on the internet the more I wanted a widescreen, but the start price seemed to be about £200. I was looking in more the £100-140 range. The Acer 19 inch LCD screen is a wonderful opportunity to get rid of those horrible left and right scrollers as well as giving you lots of workspace due to the size of the screen. It also has an LCD screen so you can be a bit different from your friends who've all got plasma screens and who knows what else. When you are surfing the internet on this screen the actual website gets dwarfed and theres lots of space around the edge-unless the website stretches to fit the vast quantity of left over screen-which looks pretty ugly but just goes to show that you can have to much screen.
