I purchased the Acer Aspire 5520G laptop from Tesco Direct for the cost of £499, about 3 months ago. I purchased the laptop as my third laptop after two very unsuccessful Gateway Laptops earlier in 2007. These two laptops were both around £100 cheaper and as it was nearly a year ago neither of them was as high a spec as this one, which is currently around the highest spec laptop I have seen under £700, even though it cost much less than that!

Advantages: Very good value for money and an excellent home laptop
Disadvantages: Quite heavy, poor battery life and acer website and services unhelpful
Very good laptop for home use, however not very portable at all. I have it set up more like a desktop computer, connected to a seperate monitor. This makes it very fast, very user friendly, and of course with it being a laptop, you still have that ability to take it to work with you. Good General Laptop, Upgradeable Graphics,

Advantages: Upgradeable. Unbeatable Value.
Disadvantages: Acer UK support is not very good. A little bit heavy and large.
I bought this Laptop July 2007 from Taipei, Taiwan home of Acer. This laptop was then eventually released in Europe 1 year later!! Anyway this is a great laptop if your technically inclined. Originally I bought this laptop with a Nvidia 8400M G graphics card which was practially useless for playing modern games. However, since this laptop uses a MXM grahics card slot, I have been able to upgrade to an Nvidia 8600M GS which is about 2-3 times faster ...
