...me to buy her the Acer Aspire One netbook which she would use for web browsing and writing simple documents. I was a bit sceptical of the device, after all, to me it was just a cheap laptop. But, alas, she won and off I went to Currys armed with my credit card to begrudingly buy her one.

The box in which the Aspire comes is very small. You'd be able to fit it under your arm and carry it no problem. As well as the netbook, there was ... ...cd which I thought was strange considering there isnt a cd driver in the netbook!!
--Initial Setup--
I must admit I found this impressive. From turning on to booting up was 15 seconds. A wizard takes you through all the standard setup questions such as region, time zones, etc. Even setting up the wireless network connection was a breeze, this was always something I was a bit wary about having had previous experience of Linux and knowing how picky ...

I own the 8GB linux version in white. It is cute and compact with a glossy finish. The Aspire One running linux is surprisingly fast considering its 512MB of ram. It is perfect for wirelessly browsing the web using fire fox. The keyboard is just short of full size making it the perfect tool for typing an e-mail or essay whilst out and about. The open office documents can be saved as word, powerpoint or excel documents so they are microsoft compatible. ...

I have the 512mb, 8gb with Linux version This is an excellent little device, I purchase this a few weeks ago & my first mission was to install more RAM, install windows XP and tweak it. I did this & I am now able to play some old school games classics like Half Life on this small great screen. Its also great for surfing the net & doing your everyday office tasks. I would use it as a replacement for my desktop but would be worth for when you go on ... ...is the keyboard/mouse. The keyboard keys don't always feel responsive (might be just mine) & mouse buttons are located on strangely on the netbook. Over all this is great item. Over all its value for money. 1.6ghz, 512mb Ram, 8.9 slick screen full keyboard and 8gb hard drive with two sd slots for expansion, what more could you want. ...

This laptop has been the best ever product i have bought and runs smoothly and has the best operating system ever. Linux. I love this laptop and wouldn't change it for the world. This laptop comes with a slot to upgrade the memory through a sd card (a 16 gb one can be bought from play.com for £16) as well as a built in webcam and microphone.
