Acer could Aspire to be a little faster! Review with images

AdvantagesCompact and easy to transport

DisadvantagesVery slow when on the internet

"...home, I came across the Acer Aspire One series A150 Bb model in a local electrical product store. At the time of purchase the little net book was on sale at a nicely reduced price (just under £200) which made it seem like an attractive buy. Having been accustomed to using a range of Apple products for my computing needs I found it took a while to become fully used to the workings of the operating system that came loaded onto this net book. When I ..." Read review

My little travel companion

AdvantagesSmall, neat, fast, nice looking, inbuilt webcam and wifi

Disadvantagespathetic battery life

"Acer Aspire One A150 Netbook, Windows XP Home, 8.9-inch Crystalbrite TFT LCD, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Intel Atom Processor N270 1.60 Ghz (Blue) I WANT A SMALLER LAPTOP SO>>> With my latest Dooyoo Amazon vouchers plus some others from various review sites I decided that I would treat myself to a mini net book laptop for when we are travelling. My lovely hp laptop is great but it is still quite heavy so I looked around for a long time reading various ..." Read review

Acer plays the Ace card again!

AdvantagesSmall, lightweight, great performer. Can handle some 3D games.

DisadvantagesNone for the Netbook, but Linux version is rubbish.

" Johnny Cochran was duck hunting in Montana recently, when he attempted to cross a fence into a field to retrieve a duck he had shot. A farmer suddenly pulled up in his pick-up truck, jumped out, and asked Mr.Cochran what he was doing on his property. "Retrieving this duck that I just shot", he replied. "That duck is on my side of the fence, so now it's mine," replied the farmer. Mr.. Cochran asked the farmer if he recognized ..." Read review

Great value if you can stand the niggles.

AdvantagesGreat value for money; nice keyboard for the size.

DisadvantagesShort battery life, no built-in 3G, unconventional mousepad layout.

"This is Acer's entry into the netbook arena and mostly it's a pretty good machine. You get the same Atom CPU as is in most of the other leading contenders, a 1024x600 9-inch screen, 1GB RAM, 160GB Hard drive, 3USB ports and a webcam. This is all for a price a bit less than the competition, although there are a few issues of ergonomics with the machine that you'd want to look at first. Netbooks generally aren't going to have the same power as laptop ..." Read review

Good, Cheap Notebook

AdvantagesCheap, good battery life, Wi-Fi, Lightweight

DisadvantagesNo Bluetooth

"The Acer Aspire One model is a notebook I recently bought from PC world, it was on offer for £199. I needed a cheap notebook to carry out simple tasks such as using MS office and run some simple accounts software. I also wanted Wi-Fi to access the internet via my home PC router, so this notebook seemed ideal for what I was looking for. The notebook itself comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition O/S. It has WiFi, Fast Ethernet, and an ultra ..." Read review

Great little piece of kit for good money.

AdvantagesCheap Powerfull machine

DisadvantagesNo Optical drive

"I have had my Acer Aspire One for about 3 months and it has never failed me. I will review everything that should be considered before buying. Speed: Well this depends on the model you are going to buy, I own the Linux version with 1GB of ram, which is probably the fastest AAO you are going to get, it really does fly. Because Linux uses very little prossesing it means that all of the application will run with little effort. The ram is upgradeable ..." Read review

Acer Aspire One = Number 1!

AdvantagesSmall, light, comparativley powerful

DisadvantagesNo external DVD drive provided. Protective sleeve

"I purchased this laptop for my wife to do do her training work on, also she didn't want to carry my luggable! We went for the 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD Linux model in Blue for about £250. Out of the box its a good looking machine, the glossy blue finish is nice, but instantly prone to fingerprint marks. It feels well built and durable. I comes with what some would call a protective sleeve, in a way it does protect but really all it protects is from ..." Read review

One sexy Net Book!!

AdvantagesSmall for travelling, Fast, Stylish, Great Battery, Webcam Built in.

DisadvantagesNo Cd Drive:(

"...specifications: I went for the Acer that was on offer so the specs are not the best available in the range but are perfect for me. 1GB of RAM 1.6GHZ Atom Processor 8GB hardrive plus an extra 8GB on a memory stick The extra memory is easily installed into the side of the net book, there is a slot specifically designed for adding extra memory. It will only accept SD card so no others can be used as extra memory however there is another slot ..." Read review

The best value netbook? yes!

AdvantagesPrice, performance, choice of colours

Disadvantagessound

"...me, i'm shiny!' but the acer aspire one has got to be the most reliable, sturdy and best value netbooks around. Starting of, as i usually do, with a summary of the style of the product, the acer aspire one won't win any beauty paegents, but it is functional in it's design. Sure, i'm not a fan of the whole gap-between-screen-and-hinge look, but it works. The netbook has no real standout design features, but it isn't the ugliest netbook around (step ..." Read review

Aspire one Small But Mighty

AdvantagesEase Of Use, Size, Out Of Box compatible, Good looking

DisadvantagesAwkward Touchpad, Poor Battery

"...bought this version of the acer aspire one before christmas 2008. Since I bought mine my mother brother and next door neighbour have all been so impressed that they to have purchased the exact same machine. My machine came pre installed with Linpus lite (lunix) which is a little strange if your used to windows in any form. From getting the machine out of the box i was online within 5 mins. It was so simple. The 1st thing you will need to do once ..." Read review

A super Netbook... you will love the deal

Advantagesvery portable and sleek

DisadvantagesMight not be very durable. You will miss a dvd player :(

"...top of the screen. Acer Aspire one is just what we were waiting for. It is a handy net book; women can even place it in their handbag. Men however have to use the portable bag that comes along. Here are some of its features: Intel Atom processor inside 8.9 inch screen (1024x600) RAM 1GB/160GB/XP/6-Cell Battery (3 hours ... wow) Price: 265 GBP 2.3 lbs (Light ... right) This Net book has speakers and all other device outlets that are needed, but ..." Acer Aspire One A150-Great for Word Processing and Internet

AdvantagesSize, ability to access various internet browsers and word processing

DisadvantagesSmall memory compared to conventional laptops

"This laptop was bought in order to aid my study as I needed to be able to access the internet and write word documents as part of my A level course. I use it with mobile broadband and it is compatible and provides a good internet service, if a little slower than its larger counterparts. The laptop is attractive and portable-I have received many comments on its appearance. It is light compared to larger laptops so is perfect for carrying on public ..." Read review

Acer scores again with their ultra fast Aspire One

AdvantagesFast, portable, comfortable, pretty variety of colours

DisadvantagesNo DVD drive, low battery life, gets hot, Linux crashes if modified too much

"...these factors? Yes, perfectly. The Acer Aspire One is, in my opinion, one of the best netbooks on the market. I grabbed of these for my birthday, when it was relatively new off Amazon. I got the version that had 120 GBs of hard drive memory, with Linpus Linux Lite. This edition of Linux was built specifically for the Aspire One, and it was extremely simple and easy to use. With an eye catching interface, a quick search bar and brilliantly obvious ..." Read review

ACER ASPIRE ONE 1.6ghz, 120gb, 1gb ram, XP HOME

AdvantagesCHEAP, DURABLE, DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAID ON THE TIN

DisadvantagesGLOSSY SCREEN, BATTERY LIFE, POOR SPEAKERS

"I bought this laptop because I needed a cheap, reliable way to get online. At first It had Linpus Linux OS which to be honest is a waste of time however it was easy to use but it lacked in compatibility to other software and hardware, that is when I realised I should have payed a bit extra to get the XP version. I bought a cheap copy of windows xp from ebay and installed it using an external cd-rom drive, which was a lot easier than I was expecting ..." Read review
