Advantages: Minute, basic PC functionallity Disadvantages: Limited performance especially in BBC iPlayer
The Acer Revo R3600 is a slightly odd kettle of fish and in some ways is a solution looking for a problem!
The original desktop PC configuration; Base unit, wired keyboard and mouse, and a monitor hasn’t changed much in 25 years – unless you count putting the base unit on it’s side!
A number of notable exceptions have been to create the ‘all in one PC’ which unite the processor and display – most notably the original iMac in the 1990s – Sony dabbled ... ...you may already have.
Acer have responded to this by taking a sideways look and coming up with the ‘nettop’ PC.
In terms of hardware, it owes rather more to the currently very trendy ultra-portable ‘mini PC’s known as ‘netbooks’ – except this one does away with the built in keyboard mouse and screen.
Why? – good question!
Well; the reason is often staring you in the face every day in the living room!
The astonishingly quick adoption of relatively ...

Advantages: good graphics, HDMI, energy saving, compact design Disadvantages: slow processor
Bought this Acer Aspire Revo last week, in my opinion it looks great and not bad for its price. Actually got it from PC world for £249.97 which includes an upgrade offer of windows7, which will be sent separately this October when it is released. They said using the windows 7 should make it faster and smoother, which I will soon find out. This is however not a very duty kind of thing, but I totally love it! ...

Advantages: Small and smart, HDMI port, GPU chip, 160GB HDD, handles HD media output and has an eSATA port Disadvantages: Low on RAM and processing power for a Vita PC, extremely wobbly stand and no optical drive
Have Acer started down the better path with the Acer Aspire REVO R3600? Well that may just be exactly what they have done. Its good looking fast has a big hard drive, a GPU and runs VISTA rather than XP.
The good stuff.
The Acer REVO is another one of these net top PC’s albeit a little different.
First off it can handle allot more than just net browsing and word-processing, which is all its pre-deceases could handle. This is due to its Nvidia ... ...into the media world,
