Great PC for the money! There have been a couple of minor software 'glitches' like hiding my notifications, but nothing major & all working well. The RAM doesn't go a long way but have 'upped' it using HD and have ordered another Gig. We'll see. Would happily recommend. ...

Excellent value for the price. As far as upgrades, I replaced the RAM with 2 gigs of OCZ PC2-6400 800MHz, that gave a big performance improvement! The CPU socket is AM2 so I then tried to replace the CPU with a dual core. I installed the Athlon 4400 . The machine boots up fine but locks-up after 5 to 10 minutes. I tried reinstalling the OS (on a spare hard drive and got the same result. I wish there was some documentation or help on the Acer web site stating the capabilities/limitation for thos that want to upgrade this machine. ...

Brilliant piece of kit and very cheap for all the stuff you get with it. Would just like to know if I can upgrade the CPU to dual core and if so, what socket am I looking for as I believe its AM2? And to be quite honest, Acer UK are not very helpful with their after sales service, even after phoning them about 4 times and emailing them about 6 times and only getting one reply, which told me absolutely zilch! Don't ever waste the opportunity to work with AMD64X2 3800+. just follow this simple instruction in how to make this product become a great monster. don't use the onboard Nvidia6100, change with Nvdia 6800GT Pcie, increase the memory with Corsair 3 x 1GB DDR II XMS, give more space to ur data with 400GB but let the 160GB as ur system and ur reserve space. to complete the sound projects simply add creative SB.Audigy (value or platinum) it doesn't seems so much differences between value or platinum device. Now the product may cost around $650. but u can beat all products with higher cost but lower performance than this one. trust me !! ...

...no proper technical support from acer on this machine i build pcs so to buy a complete unit for this price is very good but you probably want to put in a new graphics card but doing this made the pc alot noiser so i suggest when buying a graphics card get one with silent cooling system, The card even outran the GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB in multiple cases, despite having half the memory. If you absolutely must stick to a budget, and can't afford to splurge ...

I purchased this little gem from ebuyer about two weeks ago, and I have been very impressed. With shipping it cost less than £240, and is brilliant for that money. Features that I like: Great graphics - even though onboard - I can see a marked difference from my previous machine. Not a bad computer. Needs more ram to run vista effectively. Only one complaint - the hard drive is way too noisy. The tower needs to be put in a cupboard or in another room because after a while the whirring really starts to get on you tits. ...

I bought the Acer aspire T180 dual core 4 weeks ago. In that 4 weeks I have done umpteen factory restores that i have lost count. Empowering technology was malfunctioning sound card disappering just to mention a few reasons for restoring to factory settings. I took it back to PC world today 3 days out of their 28 day instant replacement or refund period. It has now been left with their tech guys for the next 48 hours to sort out what is wrong ...
...and that empowering technology is the root cause. He has my permission to uninstall it if that is found to be the culprit. It was also explained that the lure of the dual core and 1024 mb ram has been misinterpreted as being a good pc but the reality is that by the time the 256mb for the shared graphics is swallowed up then the 500 or so mb vista swallows i am left with around 250mb of memory if lucky then with empowering technology taking its ...
