To temp - useful in an financial emergency

Advantages: For students, people only wanting odd hours etc
Disadvantages: not marvelous pay

I temped for only 3 months, attempted with Adecco and also Select Agencies, so don't have much experience to draw on. I can can also report on them from the employers side of things as well. Me as a temp Walked out of a permanent job extremely harrassed and thought sod the consequences can't stick it any longer. I think most of us have been there before. I thought of temping to tide me over on someone's recommendation didn't know who was best so ...
...them) made appt to register to do the numerous tests etc. I wanted a permanent job, but they rang me up as soon as I got home, thought brilliant, it was supposedly working for a trade union local office, I thought that could be interesting, I asked them to set me up with an interview or whatever. It never transpired, I rang them about 4 times a day for the whole week, no other temporary work was offered me either they dodged my phone calls with one ...

Agencies don't seem to like students!

Advantages: Great for long term temp work
Disadvantages: They don't like students!

Ok, I'm not saying all Adecco offices are this bad, I'm sure most are really great and helpful, but the one I went to this summer to try and find work over the university summer holiday was rubbish! I thought, hmm, Adecco, they're a top name in recruitment, I bet they could help me find work. How wrong I was. I first registered online with Adecco in late May, ages before the end of term, so that I would be ahead of the student job-hunting rush. A ...
...me what sort of work I was after, and when I was available. As soon as I said "I'm available from the end of June till the end of September", she warily asked "are you a student?". Yes, I said. "Ok, well I'll give you a call if we get any work for you". That was the last I ever heard from Adecco. A few weeks later, when the holidays had started and I was back in my home town looking for work, I passed the Adecco office in the street and noticed an ...

Thanks all Ciao members and Ciao for this!!!

Advantages: Work for many
Disadvantages: not secure

...Thanks again, karen :0) Adecco.co.uk is the internet based web site for Adecco. It used to be called Alfred Marks. I do not know how I first came by Ciao, maybe it was another search engine and I just slowly or actually very quickly became interested in the site, ok at first Lets be honest I made a balls up of my postings and this is going to be re written in the near future and some already have. I listenened to what other Ciaoers had said and ...

Fast of the mark, but once you're in....

Advantages: Fast turnaround, helpful and efficient.
Disadvantages: Once you're in, don't expect much help.

My experiences with this agency, who I have worked for over the last ten months, have been widely variable. I went to them looking for temporary work, I was aware that my time living in Cardiff was likely to be short and I didn't want to take a permanent job. Adecco was one of a half dozen agencies I went to. They were the first to call me in for evaluation, and they were efficient and helpful. That same afternoon they called about a placement, ...
...pay for what it was. I was there for a while, and when it came to Christmas, despite the fact that I don't think I was technically eligible for the holiday pay at that point I got it. So ends the good part. Shortly after Christmas I tired of the job and asked them to find me another one. After a week I'd heard nothing so I asked again, and again a fortnight later. Despite the fact that plenty of other jobs could be seen going through the office, ...

Temporary jobs very spontaneous

Advantages: Not really that competent
Disadvantages: quick offers

Hi, I just saw that here are already several opinions on the temporary job agency addeco. However, I was gaining some experiences with them within the last month and would like you to read my opinion and experiences. When I started looking for a temporary job I just went into the centre of Lougborough with my CV in my pocket to look out for agencies. The first one I saw was Addecco. My first impression was quite good. There was a nice woman sitting ...
...me, what kind of work I was looking for (administration, clerical assistance) and took all the notes. She called the agency in an other town close still whilst I was there to announce, there would be a new girl, looking for a job. I was quite pleased and confident, they could help me. I didn't have a bank account and a temporary NI number yet, but I got both the next day and handed it in as requested. Only few days later in the very early morning, ...

couldnt beleive it

Advantages: saves time
Disadvantages: rubbish firm

i had heard that they were a very good firm from a lot of different people. I decided that i would register with them in the hope to find full time work. i was invited for interview which my consultant turned up late for as she took an extended lunch. i was cross at this as she wasnt even in the slightest apoligetic. i was very surprised that i even heard back from her. she seemed to be very unorganised and didnt seem to worry about what her clients ...

Best by far

Advantages: Helpful, professional, interested in employees needs
Disadvantages: Limited by job availability

Employment agencies - have their uses (obviously!) but can also be a real pain. Having been a student I went to several agencies for temping work in the holidays and had mixed results. I found it infuriating to have spent time going through all the registration tests, procedures and paperwork, being told 'we'll have no trouble finding you something' only to hear nothing from them ever again, despite numerous chasing phone calls. As such, Adecco came ...
...what I was interested in, registered me as looking for both temporary and permanent positions and within 2 days I had my first temping position. For the next few months I had several positions, all providing me with valuable office experience, until I was put forward for an interview for a permanent position. I got the job and stuck it out for a few months. However, I came to realise it wasn't really me so went back to Adecco who again found me temp ...

Hate this agency

Advantages: No Advantages really i guess a agency with jobs for you
Disadvantages: Never reply

Adecco My Experience Well another agency company on the block, but in my opinion Adecco are the most ignorant agency out there.Last year i was in the need of a job i sent my CV to every agency but i noticed that Adecco was the only one who had jobs available. I would see their adverts outside always and i would think i am the right person why do they never reply or ring and i would see them on the job centre site daily advertising jobs.I have sent ...
...a single reply not even a confirmation that your application is not suitable. I find Adecco to be the worst agency out there and its not about my CV i had all the relevant skills for the jobs i applied for its just the damn company. All agencies love taking your CV's and atleast giving you the deceny to reply Adecco has never done that to me maybe its the Adecco in my town but i honestly feel deep down Adecco is a waste of time. I think Adecco ...

Adecco - The recruitment consultants

Advantages: Lots of branches throughout London
Disadvantages: Like any agency, may not guarantee constant work

I used the Adecco branch in Hammersmith, London, from August of last year to July of this year for temporary work. They offer work in many sectors, with permanent and temporary contracts. I was down for office, admin and banking on their books. After an initial assessment test on the p.c's (testing proficiency on Word/Excel) then an interview with a consultant, it was roughly within 2 weeks before i got my first job. This was with a corporate charge ...
...4 months. After this ended, within a week, i got another contract. This time for the BBC and although this again was temporary, it would be a 9 month placement between various BBC sites. Contact between Adecco consultants was very good. The consultant i dealt with during my time on their books visited the sites temps were working and called to see if all was well. When out of work, they do their best to find something in the mean time, whether ...

Thumbs up for Addecco

Advantages: Extremley helpful, lots of bookings to choose from
Disadvantages: Haven't found any yet!

In my vast experience with temp agencies (will I ever get myself a permanent job!?) Adecco comes up top. The friendly atmosphere in the office makes you relaxed as soon as you walk through the door. The staff are very welcoming and very easy to get on with. During my initial interview and registration I didn’t quite reach the score I needed on one of the tests I was given, but instead of chucking me out the door they offered me the chance to ...

My Adecco experience

Advantages: friendly, speedy service
Disadvantages: misleading job descriptions

I work as a temp quite often and I have noticed that standards do vary. I turned to Adecco when I wanted to find a job locally rather than in London. They offered me a position they said was very similar to the position I had just left (Data Entry Clerk, Accounts) and I happily accepted. When I turned up for work (late, as Adecco had told me the wrong place to go) I found the job consisted of answering the phone, opening the door (!) and typing out ...
...a day. When I received my pay for that day's work I noticed they had paid me for half an hour less than I worked, but I let it go. I feel that I was completely misled by Adecco. They were very helpful and friendly and I think that one can happily use their services, but please make sure that when you turn up for work the job is what you asked for. ...

Quick review of Adecco.co.uk

Adecco is the worst agency I have worked with in the last 12 years. After months of trying to get paid, I have emailed every email address I could find to adecco world wide. I have had no response from any one. I have told them I will post reviews about them if the don't respond, but they just can't be bothered. I have directed email to their press departments and CEO's but nothing. I have told them I don't want my payment anymore, but would prefer to post my experience about them instead. If you care about your hard earned money then keep clear of this agency, because it is rubbish. ...

Not worth it

Advantages: Nice office
Disadvantages: No continuity - being passed around from person to person

I registered with Adecco on the high street a couple of months ago. I spent many lunch hours in their plush offices with various different recruitment consultants. I registered via the computer, did a typing test and even a short psychometric test. Unfortunately, I never heard from them for weeks - approximately six weeks. When they did get in touch they didn't seem to know what I was after - and even asked me whether I had filled in all the forms ...

Quick review of Adecco.co.uk

Not very good operation. excuses made by them for late or delayed work payements. They expect not only the work sheets to be filled in but then a follow up phone call another day to confirm the work on the sheet was done. Know of someoone who worked two weeks and had no payement from them. Adecco used the above lack of follow up phone call (a lame excuse) for non payement. Ensure you ask Adecco exactly what the terms of engagement are , they may not tell you until you find you are waiting for money. ...

Quick review of Adecco.co.uk

Temporary jobs has advantages, it does not require your full time and it makes you versatile because of different jobs that you will have. Based on my experience, I have applied to some temp agencies, and, like applying for a work, I encountered examinations, and interviews, they also made me wait for long hours. I have also tried applying at Integrity Staffing Solutions and they have a very good rules and regulations. They made sure that I understand everything, and made sure that I have the right tep jobs based on my qualifications. If you are interested to inquire at Integrity Staffing Solutions, their site is http://www.integritystaffing.com ...
