What About Good Ol Customer Service??

AdvantagesPolite Staff

DisadvantagesPrices may not be the best

"I've been with Admiral Group for about 6 years now and even though they may not always have the best price each year, they certainly do have the best customer service in most of the departments. The Renewals and Customer Service departments are great.....I have not (luckily) had to speak to thier Claims department, so I can't say. They have the renewals out of Canada and I must say, they are wonderful people to speak to. Very polite and knowledgable. ..." Read review

Not that time of year again (more info)

Advantagescheaper than many big names

Disadvantageswebsite can be slow

"...second best with £508.92 but Admiral with similar cover plus a replacement car came out to be £439.95. Quotes went up to £600+. My quote was on the internet and took about 5 minutes to get. After that they sent me through the paperwork for me to check and I just had to return a copy signed in a pre-paid envelope along with proof of my no-claims discount (new quote from Esure). We currently use Admiral for another car and have been quite happy ..." Read review

Admiralty of the Gutter

AdvantagesNone.

DisadvantagesToo many to list... the main one was mentioned in the opinion and speaks for itself.

"I went with Admiral with the misdirected notion they were a decent company. So wrong was I! I was stupid enough to stay with them the two and a bit years I was with them. And each time they raised the premium. To top it all up, when I did comply with the motoring law, they decided to punish me. Despite not making a claim or filing a potential claim, they removed two years immediately, and on renewal they refused to award another year, leaving me with ..." Read review

Great customer service, have to be pushed for cheap renewals

AdvantagesGreat Customer service when things go wrong, people make errors all the time it's how you fix them

DisadvantagesRenewal prices are more expensive and have to be checked with others before you get the best deal.

"I've been with Admiral for two years now, and rarely speak to my insurance company unless I'm due for renewal. I found them via the price comparison websites and the entire set up process was hassle free. This year I bumped into another driver, completely my fault and really silly of me. Admiral handled the entire thing no problem and as I didn't have to make a claim on my car I had no excess to pay which was good. Cut to last month and I had a bit ..." Read review

Be careful of Admiral

AdvantagesCheap

DisadvantagesDishonest

"I bought car insurance from Admiral because it was the cheapest around. However, be very careful buying from them because they are pretty unscruplous. I bought a 9 month policy which was very cheap. After 9 months, I went to renew and the premium had gone up despite then having a no claims bonus. When I went to shop around, no-one else would give a NCB because the 9 month policy has not been valid for a year. Admiral had effectively tied me into them ..." Read review

Cheaper Insurance

AdvantagesCheap insurance, friendly helpful service, professional written and laid out insurance policy.

DisadvantagesNone as yet.

"...phone, as have the staff Admiral have recommended when I needed to replace my windscreen (Auto Windscreens). The job was done professionally and quickly, and I couldn't have asked for any more. I hope I can continue the same good opinion for a long time to come. ..." Read review

Bell Direct

AdvantagesCheap

DisadvantagesNot cheerful, inefficient

"A subsidiary of Admiral is a company called Bell Direct. They insured me in respect of my car until recently. Unfortunately, the company proved wholly incapable of getting anything right - they got confused as to the length of my policy (giving me a 9 month instead of 12 month duration), they completely messed up my address, they lost my certificate of insurance when I eventually cancelled and they took ages to send a refund of premium to me following ..." Admiral - No Thanks

AdvantagesGood if you have money to throw away

Disadvantagesunhelpful, expensive, slow

"I would not rate admiral as an insurer. I was with admiral for about 8 years. The first quote i had off them was fantastic. I had a new car and they were charging me £230 for a years fully comp insurance. I had no problems the first year. I got my renewal through for the next year and it had gone up slightly even though I had not had a claim. I rang customer services to check. They said the quote was right did I want to renew. They explained that ..." Read review

If you have accessories/options AVOID!

AdvantagesPrice and possibly a household name

DisadvantagesUnfair Terms & Conditions

"The Admiral Group comprise Bell Direct, Hastings, Admiral, Elephant.co.uk and Diamond amongst their better known names. I was insured with Admiral in 2001 for my MINI Cooper and admit that I didn't bother to read the Terms and Conditions. Admiral have a clause called the "Standard Parts Replacement Clause" which is used by all their variant named companies. OK so what does this mean? Let's take my MINI as an example. The base price of a MINI ..." Read review

I will never insure my car again with Admiral

AdvantagesMaybe cheaper at the time

DisadvantagesBad customer service incompetence, not interested once they have had your money

"...and advised me to inform admiral who i was insured with. nothing became of this incident and i ended up paying for the damage and repairs myself, as admiral told me they could not Trace this guy as it was a fleet vehicle. I did not want to loose my no claims bonus, So did not carry the notification of the claim through.. Thinking it would not affect my no claims bonus , as it was not my fault and did not make any claim from admiral. I just recently ..." Read review

Admiral, as cheap as chips!

AdvantagesSuperb prices, excellent dual car discounts

Disadvantagesreported poor customer server, never experienced this myself though

"I have been with Admiral for 3 years now and not had any problems, consistently the cheapest quote out there by a LONG way. Add to that the pleasure of insuring my second car with them, I have purchased a TVR Tuscan as a weekend toy, not the cheapest car to insure by a fair stretch, after getting quoted over £2000 by others, with the next closest being £1500 with the condition the car must be garaged (no good as I dont have a garage!) Admiral came ..." Read review

Haven't found better for 3 years.

AdvantagesAlways willing to help.

DisadvantagesBeware hidden extras!

"...and phoning round various companies Admiral have given me the best price three years running. I'm 25 and Female, but have had fully comprehensive cover with them since I was 22. They were the best price for me when I drove a 1992 MR2 and now for my BMW 318is Coupe. I pay £375 fully comp with 4 years no claims bonus. When I bought the BMW I needed to transfer the private plate I had on the MR2. Initially I isnured the BMW on the plate it came with ..." Read review

Very good for male under 25s

AdvantagesDuplicate no claims for named drivers

Disadvantagesnone -yet

"I rang Admiral yesterday to find out how much it would cost for my other half, aged 23, who has never had a policy of his own but is a named driver on my policy with Admiral for our ancient 'A' reg VW Polo, to get insured on a 2.5 litre Rover turbo diesel. I had done some online searches and the best quote I had turned up was for over £800. Ouch! When I rang Admiral they were extremely helpful - we've been on the Bonus Accelerator plan with our other ..." Read review

Admiral Review

Advantagesgood price, even after claim. Easy claims process.

Disadvantagesnone

"...service I receive. I changed to Admiral after 3 months with my previous insurer as my previous premium was much higher. This is definately the insurance company to go with. Very good rates for new drivers, young drivers and males. Would highly recommend to everyone. ..." Read review
