Advantages: Easy Easy Easy Disadvantages: FTP software and Floating boxes
...For anyone thats used Adobe Photoshop (which incidentally is a MUST for anyone playing with graphics, also free 30 day trial), the working environment is very similar. Also, you can go on from GoLive to Adobe Livemotion (their Flash Authoring software) reasonably easily -but thats another op.... Features:
-GoLive interacts with other Adobe products seamlessly (as you'd expect) as well as supporting plugins for almost anything you may want.
-You ... ...-There's a pile of complex functions nust beneath the surface that you can dig out and play with once you get more confident.
-Has a project management system that allows you to create a 'family tree' style breakdown of your site.
-FTP software (which unfortunately isn't completely bug free) but quite simple to use...
-It's cheaper than Dreamweaver!

Advantages: Outstandingly elegant program Disadvantages: Less developers than Dreamweaver
As Adobe Photoshop is widely looked upon as a standard tool for webdesigners, I thought that I would try out their rival to Dreamweaver, GoLive 5.0. First off I was impressed with the ease of installation, as once I had set the preferences for the browsers, it was ready to go, and just meant that I had to either create a new site or import an existing site.
The various toolbars have the Photoshop feel, so there was very little to get used to, and ... ...integration of files from other Adobe applications (funny that!).
The site map provided when I imported my site was very easy to understand and there was an automatic link checking system. Indeed if you enter a page with a dead/faulty link for editting, then GoLive will actually highlight it for you so you know that editting is required.
The major advantage it has over Dreamweaver is the fact that there are in-built browser branching possibilities, ...
