...stores. But for some reason, Advance Wars lured me in. All the 10 out of 10's in magazines, glaring at me, saying "Buy me! Buy me!", I just couldn't turn back, the temptation was too great. So I had to give, I bought it, no matter how much I hated strategy games, this snagged me on a hook and wouldn't let me go.
Luckily it didn't grab my legs and slam my head off a rock, but it wouldn't let me stop playing it! It's the kind of game that you just ... ...Well, as my review comes to a close, hopefully you will have learned 3 things. firstly you'll know that Advance Wars is brilliant and worthy of 5/5. Secondly, you should know I have a slight mental disorder and thirdly that games refer to people as 'fish'.

...was and said it was Advance Wars.
Advance Wars is a turn-based strategy game where you buy units such as tanks and Medium tanks to attack enemies or use infantry to sneak behind the enemy and capture their HQ. Advantages: Longeivity, Nice Graphics, Pure Gameplay Disadvantages: The hours you'll waste on it
Advance Wars is a gaming masterpiece. I could just stop there but after playing it on and off for over 4 months, it's now time I put it down and reviewed it!
The game sees you taking charge of a number of different military units, ranging from ground troops to helicopters and submarines. Obviously there's an opponent(s) along the way.
To start with, the game takes you through a military training course, which you have to pass before you can get ... ...it takes a few hours to pass it. The aim of the game is to capture your opponents HQ or wipe out their forces. Simple... well kind of and it's the simplicity and variety of missions and tactics that are so enthralling.
So on to the game. There are a number of different commanders, who have different skills. Initially, you are in control of Andy, who's Mr Average. The different skill sets mean different powers, which are mainly distance covered and ...

Advantages: One of few strategy games on the GBA Disadvantages: Like action? Then get lost!
Overview: You are a general (about 15yrs old?!) who controls an army from a top down 2D view and gets into a number of battles across your world. The plot is very simplistic with a twist in the tail that makes you feel a bit tired rather than more exited! (What? You mean I've been fighting all these people and THIS is why? GRR!)
Controls: Easy to learn, many functions on a few buttons sounds crampled but I had no worries.
Gameplay: You control ... ...the various terrain types make things really interesting. There is little resource management, most missions you car just given a set number units to use. Turn based, forward thinking....TOLD YOU IT WAS LIKE CHESS! When two units attack each other, a little animated cutscene pops up showing you how you did: pointless really, but it can be turned off. Also, the tutorial missions are fantastic and help you learn all the tricks of the trade in no time; ...

Advantages: Crisp Graphics, Loong Game and Extremely Fun Disadvantages: Gets Challenging Quite Quickly
...are no words to describe Advance Wars - it's just such a great game!
The storyline is something like you are a general of an army and so it is your job to command infantry units, tanks, planes, etc. It's not as boring as it sounds. The graphics are cute and drawn in anime-style, making the game a joy to look at, and the music and sound effects is not half-bad for a GBA game either.
The gameplay consists of you moving units around the map, capturing ... ...directly with an enemy, you enter a new screen, with even more detailed graphics where your troops will shoot at each other, whether they be boats, planes or tanks. Different units have different weaknesses and the weaker units can travel over mountains etc, making it a balanced and fun game for kids and adults alike, though teenagers would probably be best suited to this game.
At the beginning of the game you can take part in some training missions ...

...fine strategists who applaud. Indeed Advance Wars proves astonishing manner at which point all the types of plays have their place on the small GBA. Classic game, Now slightly old but still a brilliant classic. if you own a game boy you should defenitely have this in your collection. It is a strategy gaem, a bit like noughts and crosses except more complicated. You are given a selection of pieces such as tanks, rocket launchers, soldiers, etc. You move them on the grid like map and attack your opponents. You can also capture buildings and earn money which you then spend wisely. There is a brilliant ...
