After the Victorians - A.N. Wilson

There are several ways of writing history, from the most academic, not to say dry, to the most popular. Andrew Marr manages to tell the story of an era very readably, combining a conversational style with a prodigious amount of research. A.N. Wilson's approach, while perhaps a little formal, is very similar. This is the second volume in a trilogy, the first being 'The Victorians', and the third, 'Our Times'.
