Now the inherent problem of Aftershock is the way it looks. It does not look appetising at all in my view. There are four flavours of it now. The original two, which were red and blue and now there is green and purple (which hasn’t been available for long). The colours are particularly vibrant, for example, I’d more accurately describe the blue as ‘electric blue’ more ... ...to describe how the blue Aftershock tastes. It has a kind of minty flavour and smell to match. Now one thing I also noticed is that you aren’t overwhelmed by the sense of strength of alcohol in it. This drink is 40% alcohol (81 proof) but does not taste like it.

...to write a review of Aftershock for the past few weeks but, being a dedicated Ciaoer who takes all her reviews so seriously, I just had to try it out several times to ensure that I was able to write an accurate and comprehensive review ;0) So last night, I decided that I would try out a good few and finally get around to writing this, even though my head is aching and I just can’t seem to get my hands coordinated to type!! ...the drink itself. Aftershock comes in two flavours. One is Cinnamon flavoured and boasts a shocking red colour. The other is Peppermint flavoured and boasts a sky blue colour.
Both of these have there own unique taste. The Cinnamon type tastes like, as the name suggests, Cinnamon (silly). This was the type that I first had at my friends place. The drink is so different from any other. How many cinnamon flavoured drinks can you find out there today. ... ...the extra spicy taste.
Aftershock must be had as a shooter in order to fully experience the taste, in one gulp. It’s also got to be really cold and over ice. ...were only two varieties of Aftershock - Red and Blue. I tried a Blue one. This looks like a Blue mouthwash and smells like a detergent. The taste is chemically, but cold... it's also very sweet. Hard to describe, but an experience! The idea with Aftershock isn't to sip it, but to either down it, which is shocking enough, or to take the whole lot in your mouth and hold it for at least 30 seconds, swirling it round your mouth, then to swallow, inhale ... ...few other concoctions - Blue Aftershock with Sambuca goes down quite well - the Sambuca really adds something to the flavour. Even nicer is Red Aftershock with Sambuca - a sweet, licorice taste with a bite, it's lovely! (Trust me, I'm drinking some now.) Since its introduction in 1999, Aftershock has been a huge hit with young adults wanting to keep up with the binge drinking culture in the UK, get drunk as quickly as possible at the weekend and stay sober for the rest of the week. Aftershock is really supposed to be served cold or chilled, we serve it straight from the optic and sell lots, an alternative to this is in slush format, the hot cineman tingle when you drink aftershock with the cold effects of slush, make the drink very strange indeed.

...realise there was a black aftershock version until I turned around and saw it staring me in the face. stacked up with the other flavours in the fridge.
Anyway this female customer can really drink and 2 hours later she had almost emptied this chaps wallet. when her 3 friends turned up and demanded drinks from the same chap he had to go to the cashpoint to re-stock up with Money (personally i would have run away or took a cab home but the fool came ... ...to try the new Black Aftershock and the chap would have to oblige with payment so I reluctantly said yes.
I couldnt believe it, It had a blackcurranty \ benylyn cough-mediciny taste but it was superb. I couldnt get enough and have 5 more shots that night. After the 6th I knew it was time to stop I dont think you could drink any more without feeling ill. Close inspection of the bottle showed it to be made by Jim Beam which is one of my favourite ...

This very appropriately named drink provides just what it says on the bottle, one hell of an Aftershock. it is available in a few flavours but for review purposes I only drank the cinnamon one...........well not the whole bottle more like a couple of shots and two packs of Paracetamol.
The cinnamon one comes as all do in a frosted bottle which is kind of box shaped with a short silver top. It's a lovely red colour which should have warned me sraight ... ...for CIAO got to do it right.
Now when I first tried it I nearly killed myself coz WOW has it got a kick, but I have since been reliably informed that this is the way you should drink Aftershock.
Take one shot glass a 3/4 fill with your desired flavour, cinnamon for me thanks. Now and listen very carefully for I shall say this only once, drink the contents of the shot glass but do not swallow. Swirl this in your mouth for 10 seconds, this is the ...

Oh boy was this an expensive mistake (it cost about £15 as far as I can recall). Having brought it home and unscrewed the cap, I firstly gave this somewhat vivid concoction a good sniff. Yes, it certainly seemed potent. Now I'm a big fan of most things cinnamon, it doesn't require much of an excuse for me to start chucking handfuls of it into various recipes when cooking... I even enjoyed ... ...be able to get from school tuck shops, but that's for another story.
Anyway, I poured myself a little glass of the stuff and after swirling it around for a few moments (during which time I noticed it was quite gloopy) I took a swig of it.
Well, there was just about detectable amount of cinnamon warmth there, or at least a warmth of some kind- whether or not it was due to cinnamon or some kind of strong acid, I'm not sure. It's just a shame how ...

...be a name everyone knows. Aftershock rapidly seems to be turning into a cult drink, in an age when young clubbers want to get very drunk, very quickly, without sinking buckets of fluid, or having to acquire the taste of various ‘conventional’ spirits.
Aftershock is obviously designed to get into the bloodstream as quickly as possible, by taking the shortest route. Aftershock is a strange drink nobody actually knows what it is, but that doesn't matter because aftershock is like no other drink. It comes in two flavours Hot & cool cinnamon and a blueberry type flavour and can cost you up to £25 for a bottle or £1.50-£2.50 per shot depending on the bar or club you are in. Don't let the price put you off because this is the ultimate party drink. you can light it, down it, swill it and even gargle it. The best way ... ...will be tingling like mad. Aftershock is 40% alcohol by volume and gets you very drunk because the longer you can swill it in your mouth then the more alcohol you absorb straight into the blood through your gums. At my girlfriends 18th birthday she was bought a bootle by a friend and we gave a shot to her mother and 10 minutes later she was slurring her words its powerful stuff. But be warned your will have sore gums and dogs breathe in the morning ...

I found aftershock on one tremendous night out, I downed this rather harmless looking great smelling drink and oh boy did it taste strong but not in a bad way. My first experience was with Red aftershock which is the strongest of the three. It tastes of cinamon which is a definate plus point, however I found that this somewhat small drink actually got me drunk, not on its own of course but I drank no where near as much as normal.
... ...that actually tastes nice then aftershock in which ever form is the drink for you.
The only draw back is it is not cheap, it is not normally any more expensive though than any other shot available. But if you mix them the cost goes up somewhat more and you may forget how much you have spent.
All I can say is try it you might like it, ...

Lovely drink, but what ever you do, do not mix it with either the green or blue After Shock as you'll be on your back for a few days (I know as I did at the weekend LOL), If you want to get drunk quick then After Shock is your friend, I love drinking this stuff ...

aftershock is much like absinth in that once you've had a few your only going one way.... happy land.
it comes in 3 flavours (maybe more but i havent seen them). the red origional is anaseed and by far my fave. it burns your throat and just feels and tastes great.
the green is called menthol, ever tired an extra stong mint? well times one of them by a million and your almost there, tame at first then the aftershock hits and you think "never ever ... ...is citrus. by far the worst tasting of the three, and the least powerfull. just as bad as that absolutly awfull medicine u have to drink as a kid, execpt this time a spoon full of sugar will do no good. in all i'd say try the menthol, though it'll prolly be the first and last time. dont even bother with the blue, and stick to the red for whenever a drunken state needs to be quickly entered and our friend absynth just cant be found. ...
