Advantages: it plays DVD's, MP3's, and VCD's. It also has opticial outputs Disadvantages: The MP3 menu is a little trickey at first
...The Aiwa XD-DV370 does both but with an added bonous. It playes VCD's aswell but I am pretty sure that you can't get them here but I have quite a few that I bought for my PC. I have only seen them in the Asian market and only in CD-R in other places. I've heard other unlucky people have had problems with other particular models of DVD players. They said that the special features menu olny avaliable to DVD's didn't show up. I have had no problems ... ...There was only one part that I found more complicated than the rest. The was the menu system for playing MP3's. I found it quite hard at first to create a playlist instead of selecting one song each time but with a little time and practise, it isn't a problem any more.
Now that I have found out that DVD offer brilliant quality for their prices (well most of them), I don't think I will ever buy another video tape if I can avoid it.
Now that I ...

Advantages: Pefect picture & sound Disadvantages: Didn't play the "program your own concert" feature of the Underworld DVD
A £200 DVD/VCD/MP3 player from a well known and quality manufacturer is very hard to find so imagine my joy when I found this little gem at comet for £199.95. There is a very wide range of features to be found on it such as the very useful ability to play MP3's. It can read CDR/CDRW discs allowing you to put maybe 12 or so of your favourite music albums onto on CD and play it through the DVD player. Picture and sound quality is flawless which is ... ...as impressive with considerable jumping as it moves through the film, there is no smoothness in the scanning but changing from chapter to chapter is almost instant. Mp3 playback is good, and it had no problem finding the mp3's which were stored in folders on the CDR, the only thing was that the output from the 2 phono out jacks was a little too high for the hifi but I could turn it down on the input to the hifi so there was no distortion. I this ...

Advantages: Brilliant picture, plays MP3s, Multi-Region Disadvantages: Dodgy 4:3 conversion
...up with the relatively new Aiwa XD-DV370. The most popular player at this price is definitely the Wharfedale 750S, but the problem I have with it is this: If it's so good, why is every DVD forum on the Internet filled with posts like " won't work on my wharfie!!"? It clearly offers good performance, but with an incompatibility list nearly as long as this review, it doesn't deserve to sit under Reficul's TV. So, with one player already eliminated, ... ...anyway). Well, the Aiwa satisfies all of these requirements, and adds a few more surprises. Read on. To convert the XD-DV370 to any particular region, follow these steps: 1. Press Pause 2. Enter the code 314159 The player should now display "CODE --". 3. Enter the number of the region you want to set the player to, or enter '0' for region-free. 4. Press Pause 5. Power off your player and wait a few seconds 6. Power on your player Maths geeks will ...

Advantages: Plays MP3 and VCDs, Multi Region (Remote Hack) Disadvantages: None that I found
The Aiwa XD-DV370 is my second DVD player after I decided that my LG3200E wasn't good enough for me. Although, the LG was a quality player for the price and it was multi-region (Remote Hack) I was after some extras. The XD-DV370 is a clone of the LG 3350E, it has an alternative style and some reduced features. Though, it plays the same media as the LG (DVD, MP3, Audio CD and VCD). Another attraction is that it is an multi-region player once the remote ... ...means that imported DVDs from the USA can played. With it able to play VCD this is quite handy as if you have a CDR you can create your VCDs and watch them.
DVDs: I have had no trouble playing any DVDs and have watched region 1 DVDs on my player.
MP3: This for me is the impressive feature, put all your favourite songs on a CD (50+) and listen to them. This beats changing CDs all the time and sounds great through the Hi-Fi.
VCD: I created my own ...

Advantages: Good price, good-looking machine Disadvantages: Problems with playback of soundtracks
...£250, I decided on the Aiwa XD-DV370.
It certainly looks the part, plays multiregion CD's (See Slinky Steve's review for the hack) and is intuitive enough to use for a mere beginner like me. However, the specific player which I have purchased has a habit of skipping about every 10 minutes. This affects mainly the sound quality - it sounds like a record jumping. This is a shame as the whole point of owning a DVD player is the excellent quality sound ... ...DVDs, which play back perfectly well on other people's players. I am currently battling to exchange this product with the reatiler I purchased it from (who do not agree with me that it is faulty). Therefore as it stands I'm afraid I can't recommend this player - it cost me £200 and is currently worthless to me! ...
