The Alba 108 gives you the option to view DVDs in two formats, 16:9 and 4:3 so handy for those who prefer watching their movies in widescreen. You can skip forward and back at three different speeds: x2, x4 and x8, you just press the skip button once for x2, twice for x4 and three times for x8. This is great as I hate going too fast and going past the particular scene I am looking for or having to press a button for ages to get to ... ...quality, we were really surprised and can honestly say that it compares favourably with our £300 player.
For under £50 you can not go wrong with this DVD player. Ok it's not top of the range or state of the art but it does have the basic functions and a little bit more. My Alba DVD player was a birthday present of my boyfriend last year..so its nearly a year old (coz its my birthday on 14th Sept)!
Have to say its a really smart looking DVD player. It looks good with its silver finish and its a slimline one so it doesnt over-power your living room.
The DVD player itself is VERY VERY simple to use, basically you just shove your dvd in and go! You can change the screen on your remote control to widescreen if you ... ...PLAY, STOP, SKIP AND EJECT so for all those untechy people out there, you wont have to look at a daunting machine and wonder how the heck to use it!!
It will play DVDs (of course), CDs, MP3s, and CD-RW. Another added bonus is it is multi-regional so you wont have to stick to Region 2 DVDs. Advantages: Great Price, Lovely sound and picture and very reliable Disadvantages: only comes in one colour (Silver)

Alba 108 DVD player is also compatible with Dolby Digital, DTS and Kodak Picture CD's.
The Remote Controler for the Alba 108 is very compact and slimline wich gives it a good grip and makes it very lite.
I myself have a Alba 108 and have tryed other DVD players before but have found the Alba 108 to Best around for it's price.
I have found the Alba 108 to be so up to scratch that i conviced my parents to go and take back there DVD ...
