Shopping in Aldi is a much more pleasurable experience than it used to be. When the stores first opened in 1990 I remember them being sawdust-filled, warehouses full of strange continental foodstuffs. Aldi is a German supermarket. Every branch in the World are to the exacting same size, spec and layout. They stock non branded food and goods and they can knock the spots off even M&S for quality and flavour. ...that my original impression of Aldi was tained a long time ago when i visited the store that opened a few miles down the road not long after it opened. The place was chaos incarnate, with all the products out of place, pricing unclear, staff non existant and tills that took cash only. I never went back again after that experience.
