A beautiful Car

AdvantagesGood value, good performance, great styling

DisadvantagesNo cup holders!

"I owned my Alfa 156 2.0 T-spark for a year in 2000. It was a fantastic year of motoring. I bought the car brand new from a dealership in Germany. I was able to get a huge discount, so the car was a real bargain. The car had the 155BHP engine which was never really lacking in power until past 120MPH, (on autobahns!). The top speed reached was about 140 MPH, although this was indicated on the speedometer so I would take 5MPH or so off that for something ..." Read review

Powerful

AdvantagesNice and quite

DisadvantagesNot good design

"...these helpings which the newer Alfa 156 have). Bad Points: Compared to my 25 years old Giulietta with an used 2,0 lt conventional motor, it cannot accelerate on wish suddenly. I was told that a Novitec Kompressor Kit would remove that handicap. Since I am 66 years old I will not install such a device. The nearly 200 PS would be to much power for me to handle as well as will be for the very bad road Greek network. Greece has no Autobahnen or Autostrade! ..." Read review

Thinking about an Alfa?

AdvantagesBeautiful looks, fun to drive, gets you noticed!

Disadvantagesservice/repair costs

"I bought my Alfa 3 years ago and one thing has never changed - I love the design and feel of the 156! That's what this car is all about. Everyone knows that Alfa's reputation for reliability is not exactly up there with the Japanese cars! However, if anyone tells you that they don't like the look of a 156 then they must be lying! I still look at my car on the drive and feel proud to own it and people are always commenting on how nice it is. OK. ..." Read review

Very very nice car

AdvantagesA very reliable car that handle and accelerates excellently, perfect for that important business man

DisadvantagesIf security is an option, the electrics seem to be unstable. The alarms fine but the central locking fails.

"...advert on TV for the Alfa Romeo 156 while at university and promised myself i would have that car one day!!!When i finally got approved the finance package i chose that over the Audi TT. The Alfa Romeo is a more professional looking car and it earns respect! It is also the best car i have ever owned. Its stylish, powerful and very good quality. I personally have not had a problem with it. The interior is spacous, comfortable and stlyish. It handles ..." Read review

After 4 years

AdvantagesStyling, handling, roadholding

DisadvantagesPoor performance, poor dealer and company support, ergonomics

"...not what one buys an Alfa for. Ride and comfort are firm but not harsh or noisy, and that's what you expect. Engine and road sounds are audible but not intrusive. Perfect for a sports sedan. Choice of tyres is critical to interior noise. High performance tyres and you can't hear yourself think. Now the down side. Performance below 3000 rpm (ie., city traffic) is awful. The car bogs down off the line so badly that it will not beat a clapped out Viva ..." Read review

Very Nice Outside, Insides Not Bad

AdvantagesAn exciting, powerful, sexy car

Disadvantageschoice of iridescent paint, yuck

"This car can look like a nice car. Give it a makeover from the extensive product catalogue and it's a car that definately gets a second glance when it goes past. If you're budgetting around this price mark and are wondering whether to go for the 2.4 litre model or the 2 litre with the trims go for the latter. The prices have fallen as with most cars so get the sports pack, with leather interior, it's nice, it's pretty comfy. You'll also get the ..." Read review

Alfa Romeo 156 T2 2litre

AdvantagesCheaper than some sports saloons

DisadvantagesDelivery time

"I have owned an Alfa 156 for just over 2 years now and apart from the rear seat belts being faulty on delivery. (received set of floor mats as compensation) have had no trouble. It is a good car to drive, great on corners and has a nice turn of speed at the top end, especially in 5th. Slow pickup in first but once away good acceleration. I carry passengers all of the time and have had no adverse comments. Some have remarked that it is more comfortable ..." Read review

Alfa Romeo 156 Death Trap

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesDeath Trap

"I have driven an Alfa Romeo 156 since September 2002 to December 2007. It has cost me over £21,600 to keep on the road and almost my life. In 2004 Alfa sent a recall letter out to all 156 drivers tell them about a fault with the bonnet catch. Since then there has been dozens of high speed crashes due to a manufacturing fault with the bonnet catch. The catch is proven to seize up over time, which means that driving at high speed the bonnet ..." Read review

Nice but niggly problems

AdvantagesGreat looks, good engine, good handling etc, bargain second hand!

DisadvantagesThe usual Alfa quality issues on minor bits and pieces...

"...has started leaking... Typical Alfa I guess - this is my 8th and engines and main mechanicals have always been good, just the bits on the egdes that fail Aircon is not great in globally warmed UK summers (though I guess Alfa don't want to waste engine power on it).. But it looks wonderful - you must get the facelift version (rated Ice Cool by Top Gear). The engine (2.0 JTS) is good and Alfaish and steering and handling up to usual Alfa standards. ..." Alfa Romeo real design from Italy

AdvantagesStunning Looks

DisadvantagesParking Visibility

"I have never drivern an Alfa Remeo before, but when the choice of a new car came along I wanted something different. Every 'Rep' has a BMW and the Alfa Remeo 156 just looks stunning. In the end I got a 156 S3, sports pack, leather seats, Climate Control. The first time I took the Alfa to work everyone wanted to see it, one comment said it all '... it's good to see that someone has taste..'. I will not review the car as I am sure the motoring ..." The 156 Experience

AdvantagesGreat Engine

DisadvantagesRide Quality Poor, lack of space

"The 156, full of italian charm, good value but a bit short on space and driver appeal. The engines however, beautiful and that exhaust note, lovely italian tone. The 2.0 litre Twin Spark engine delivers 165bhp and will accelerate 0-60mph in 8.5 secs. The car will happily rev up to 7000rpm, delivering power to the front wheels, it would challenge most cars at the lights. Average fuel consumption 33.2mpg, which I would I say is correct. The only let ..." Read review

Style Around your Body

AdvantagesStyle, Performance and Reliability

Disadvantagesnone

"...oozes style and appeal. The Alfa Romeo has the genuine Italian style modelled all over it. The initial look to the final drive has everything Italian about it. The contours of the car are sleak and the look of the car is sexy. The interior is very much a mixture of sport and luxury. The 2.0 ltr twin spark in the veloce looks mean and clean with its lowered suspension. The interior with leather looks especially fetching with two designs to choose from, ..." Read review

super looking and arkward to live with

Advantagesdifferent

Disadvantagesannoying niggles

"...a 95% fix myself. The alfa turns heads most places i go especially sitting on 17 inch wheels the car has a wonderful sound . This is by no means the fastest car i have owned, but the only car that i have not got bored with The niggles are a nuicance and so is the dodgy petrol gauge, Would i buy another you ask?? The answer has to be yes, but iwould recommend to find a decent specialist and read more reviews about the model i was buying. To ..." Read review
