Independance Day

AdvantagesHugely Powerful, Latest Gear Avaliable, Gets Respect

DisadvantagesLarge Desktops, $$$

"...looking at other reviews of alienware.co.uk that a lot of people have had tech support problems and breakdown problems with their Pc's. Importantly i would like to say straight away that my PC has been perfect for over 12 months now, and i also know others with both notebooks and desktops that have also performed flawlessly for 12 months+. So therefore, absolutely no problems here so far (touch wood.) So i cannot comment on customer service, but i ..." Read review

Alienware

AdvantagesGreat looking site, great looking products, customer service

DisadvantagesExpensive products, rumour says products are unreliable.

"Alienware is a website that sells high-powered gaming Desktops and Laptops. This is a review for the website, and that is mainly what I will talk about, as I don't really want to stray into talking about the computers themselves as many other reviews have done, although I will outline briefly the different items which Alienware sell. The website is extremely good looking, it has futuristic themes that suit the name of the website, as well as the ..." Read review

Alienwhat?

AdvantagesGood looking, 'High spec'

DisadvantagesEverything... EVERYTHING else... Poorly built, poor customer service, poor utilties, poor system overall....

"-- VERY IMPORTANT, MUST READ BEFORE PURCHASING. -- You read poor reviews, you think; 'Ahh its a one off'. You read good reviews, you think; 'Ahh, see they are okay!' DONT BE FOOLED. I spent £2000 on my system... Thats a lot of money! Was it worth it? Basically, i'd do ANYTHING to get that money back.... My graphics card has broken 2 times, my system operates at 85-95 degrees C.. This affects gaming and causes lag. My system cant run ..." Read review

AlienWare, by the looks of it made by aliens!

AdvantagesVery powerful spec, possibility of very fast computer

DisadvantagesAwful customer service, stay away!

" Soon after I had received the computer, it was unstable in many ways, Alienware's "online" technician encouraged me to"keep going, leave the computer on, it's problems will fizzle out" and my computer needed to do this as it was new, he also advised me not to change anything on my computer to "get the value" of what I had paid for. I ran a long series of tests to see whether the computer had sorted it's self out the next day. It had not. I was ..." Read review

Good Tech Support but you'll know them TO well

AdvantagesGreat Looks

DisadvantagesTo many faults

"I'd been dying to get my hands of an Alienware PC for over year and eventually I splash out the cash for the new shape case in Feb04, it was a expensive but worth it. Alienware have a quality control checklist that they update for you so you can check the status of your system, although its not very accurate it does give you some idea about the status of your PC. Anyhow, it eventually turned up very well packaged and right on the 15th day, perfect ..." Read review

Speed, performance and great looks

AdvantagesFast service, excellent computer, long lasting

DisadvantagesNot for the beginner

"I spent many weeks searching for components to build my own PC. Then i decided that i shall simply find someone to do it for me however it was very difficult to find a company to meet my specific needs. I spent time on the DELL, Savrow, PC world ect sites and i found pretty much the same thing. Mid range computers at average prices (except savrow which were top end computers at rediculous prices). Then i found alienware. I went through their custom ..." Read review

Thinking of trying Alienware? DON'T RISK IT.

AdvantagesEasy Ordering

DisadvantagesEverything Else

"I recently purchased an Aurora system from Alienware costing roughly £2400. Expensive, but their reputation was a major factor in my decision to purchase from this company. The price included what we thought would be useful essentials such as AlienAutopsy, which is said to be an error reporting tool providing quick resolution of any software problems that might be encountered. More on that later. Straight after we received the delivery of the system, ..." Read review

Don't believe the hype!

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesAll too many

"I hope you avoid my experience. I can only say buy anything but Alienware! For the record, I bought the top of the line Aurora m9700 model, with almost all available upgrades, about $3800. ORDER: First, my order was never processed because a $20 external USB card reader was out of stock. Customer service repeatedly told me it was an internal part and the computer could not be built and shipped without it. I was also told a restocking fee might ..." Read review

Alienware's Customer Focus

AdvantagesOptimized Computer. Great Customer Service.

DisadvantagesLong wait

"It would appear that Oct and November are actually the worst times to order technology. New technological advances are rushed to market in those 8 weeks before Christmas, everyone trying to cash in on the Holiday spending fever. Not knowing this, I ordered my computer at the beginning of October. In the weeks following my order. Intel came out with a new motherboard and a new processor. AMD came out with motherboards supporting SLI and 2 new processors. ..." Read review

Alienware works perfectly

AdvantagesVERY high performance systems, decent value for the basic Aurora and possibly other's

DisadvantagesVERY overpriced when it comes to upgrades. Slow at getting stock back in stock.

"I bought my alienware around two months ago now, and I have not had a single problem with it. The reason I waited this long to post this review is that I heard alot of people say that something went wrong with theirs, but nothing has gone wrong with mine. Overall, the computer is very reliable, fast and most importantly, brilliant at playing games, even though I only bought the basic Aurora desktop, that when I bought it, cost only £700. I did the ..." Read review

Alienware M5550i

Advantagesquality laptop

Disadvantagesmachine gets a LOT hotter than your dad's 5 year old Tecra

"Ordering -- not an easy task. I was desperate to throw £950 at Alienware to buy a notebook, but I was tripped up by the ordering system more than once. No mechanism to let the bank know the purchase is kosher, so the bank then doesn't let the transaction go thru. Do it's up to you to phone the bank and ask if the payment's been accepted, find out it hasn't, then get back to Alienware and tell them to get their billing department to re-request. Bored ..." Alienware M17

AdvantagesGorgeous look, great speed

DisadvantagesIts big but powerfull

"I have read a lot of negative reviews about Alienware myself. I too feel I have to set the record straight. I bought a laptop from Alienware, and it works like a dream. No faults, no noise, no extreme heat, nothing of the sort. It is the fastest machine I have ever worked on... It was built to my specifications, arrived before the due date in pristine condition and packaged gorgeously. When asked for support I was promptly dealt with. I am sorry ..." Read review

alienware area 51m15x

Advantagesimpresses your friends

Disadvantagesunreliable, gimmick laden, over priced, poorly made, it will stop wor within two years, guarenteed

"Over priced and lasted two years. That's 1000 sterling a year. Technical support good. I used it every few months with some problem or another. The laptop case split, which after advising Alienware now owned by Dell, was a latent defect, they did replace the lid, although damaged the screen during the replacement. Now the machine is dead, so that was a waste of money. If you are a teenager with wealthy parents, then buy an alienware laptop to impress ..." Read review

Ordering Accessories Takes Forever

AdvantagesErm...

DisadvantagesOverpriced, Extremely Slow Service, Patronizing Customer Support

"I ordered a expensive headset and amp from Alienware - the Astro A40 system. It costs $250 in the US - but Alienware wanted £309 including VAT and delivery! That's one hell of markup. I paid this because I thought I could get UK support and a fast delivery - after all they were charging over £20 for delivery. What a joke! It took them 3 full days to process my credit card payment and a further 4 days for the fairly small parcel to arrive. For ..." Read review

AdvantagesLooks, Performance, Features

DisadvantagesOverpriced, Support is shocking, build quality is poor, no replacement parts!

"I bought an alienware area51 m5550i R3 around 2 years ago for £1350 and it was working fine till the warranty run out. Ever since then this machine has been nothing but trouble. The main problem is that once your warranty runs out alienware don't stock replacement parts for out of date systems... ie your cant even buy replacement parts instead having to trawl through the internet for 3rd party sellers. The first problem was that the graphics card ..." Read review
