When I heard that Allen Carr had died I was shocked, truly shocked. I had not long finished reading his book for the second or third time and marvelled at how a man who smoked 100 a day for a large portion of his life managed to cut down to zero cigarettes overnight and without (according to him) any ill effects. This is a truly inspirational book, and should be read by every smoker on the planet. Quite why the medical profession have not been giving this book out instead of wasting millions on nicotine replacement products and Zyban astounds me. I was a 60 a day smoker, and this book was recommended to me by two co-workers. I was working in Dubai at the time, and so the price of cigarettes was never an issue (70p a pack!), I was allowed to smoke at my desk, ...
