Advantages Advantages A stunning season, the most gripping in recent years. The right driver won the title

Disadvantages Disadvantages Politics and petulant tantrums throughout.

Not in many years has Formula One had such media publicity as it has had during the 2007 season. Since 1991 the sport has been dominated by one name - Schumacher - and, in 1996, that name became synonymous with Ferrari, the only team to compete in every single championship since Formula One's inception in 1950 and the only team with a history and passion so devout to Grand Prix racing that the name Ferrari runs through the blood of every citizen of Italy. Of course, the names Schumacher and Ferrari have also caused many a fan's blood to turn cold over the years as, man and team, they began to ... more

Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. Two big household names. I have yet to meet someone who has not heard of the dispute between the two formula one drivers. Incase you are one of the few people who haven't, here is a brief outline pf events. Hamilton is a rookie in the sport of Formula One. This means that t is his first year. Yet he has been recruited by one of the biggest teams in the sport; McLaren-Mercedes. Also recruited by McLaren is the world champion from 2006, Fernando Alonso. Hamilton got of to a flying start, landing 12 podium finishes. Alonso didn't like the fact that Hamilton was ... more

    Advantages Advantages -

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

I used to watch Formula 1 racing all the time when I was younger, and followed it avidly. As I got older and started going out and then working in a job which involved working most weekends I stopped following it so much though knew who the main players were. For the past year though I have got a new job which means Sundays off (hurrah!) and the rising star of Lewis Hamilton has peaked my interest and I've started watching more regularly again. At the start of this years season in Australia I obviously knew who Alonso was as he had won the Championship in 2006 and 2007 and had heard the hype ... more

    Advantages Advantages Hamilton

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Alonso

The Alonso Versus Hamilton war has been raging on since many months now making top sporting headlines. The two drivers both of whom are contracted to Mclaren went head to head this year in what turned out not only to be a battle on the race tracks but also a battle of words. For those of you who are not aware of the set up of Formula 1 Championship here is a little overview: The FIA Formula One World Championship consists of 17 Grand Prix races, which take place in Australia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Spain, Monaco, Canada, United States, France, Britain, Europe, Hungary, Turkey, Italy, Belgium ... more

Advantages Advantages Makes the races interesting and keeps audience interested

Disadvantages Disadvantages How much of it is honest?

This season the McLaren saga has been the one of the two things that has kept me interested in Formula One as well as the pleasant change of not having the same driver win again and again and again. My support does not lie with either driver because of the strangeness of the last season and here is why. Fernando Alonso -------------------------------- First Alonso. What people seem to forget or what the media do not tell people is that he was also the youngest Formula One world champion in 2005 being only 24 at the time (he is now just turned 27). In his early life her was a junior karting ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Right in all fairness I'm not exactly a great fan of formula 1 but I get made to watch it as my dad and his girlfriend follow it and so does my boyfriend! To be fair I personally think Alonso is being rather pathetic on the whole situation just because he isn't number one he wants to go back to his old team! At the end of the day it only matters what team your on and if that team to wins! So to have a hissy fit (basically) is completely unreasonable! He left Maclaren (however you spell it) to go to the other team (soz can't remember what time he is on) to further his career, so now just to go ... more

Advantages Advantages He did screw up monumentally in some races

Disadvantages Disadvantages Let's be fair, he is a boy amongst men - imagine the pressure.

Quite frankly, cheaters never prosper. The fact that Mclaren - Mercedes WERE spying on other teams teaches the fact if you cant do the time, don't do the crime. In simple terms, we (I'm British - and gutted) cheated, we got caught. Albeit we were only spying and didn't copy any of the constructions or tactics, the principles remain the same. If you 'only look' at the answer next to you, but don't copy the answer, you can still get done for cheating. So in that respect, we deserved to be stripped of the constructor points and consequently, give up a trophy which we had the aptitude and talent ... more

    Advantages Advantages Hamilton

    Disadvantages Disadvantages McLaren

To get straight to the point, I blame McLaren. After all of the trouble that McLaren had with Ferrari, luckily Hamilton was allowed to keep his points that he had earned. You would have thought that McLaren would have wanted to forget about their troubles and concentrate on something brighter like a rookie winning his debut season. There's many English racers, but for a rookie to do so well in his debut season is unheard of. This made the majority of England to start supporting McLaren as they wanted to see Hamilton succeed. This should have made McLaren take notice and to concentrate on ... more

Advantages Advantages It created a bit of excitement to the seasons events

Disadvantages Disadvantages It took away from proper racing

I am not a great fan of either of these two drivers, however, I would support Alonso in this instance. Alonso has never shown this sort of behaviour to any other team mate before McLaren-Mercedes or indeed since McLaren. I find Hamilton very false in any interviews I've seen of him. Its as if he's always putting on an act to behave how he believes the public want, however, every now and then a glimmer of his arrogance and vanity shine through. In my opinion McClaren-Mercedes used Alonso as a scape goat to the whole "spy scandal" and he was forced to say nothing about the speculation in the ... more

    Advantages Advantages The noise

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The Politics

The tiff between Alonso and Hamilton was a bit of friendly child's play when the season started and was blown out of proportion by the media. However when Alonso realized that Hamilton was a much better driver than himself jelousey set in and Alonso tried to undermine Hamilton for the rest of the season. Alonso was squarely to blame for the farce that was the 2007 F1 season. Alonso should have been sacked long before the season ended. I have been a life long Mclaren supporter and i lost a lot of respect for Ron Dennis for his non action over Alonso. I will remain a fan of Mclaren and Hamilton ... more
