As I've mentioned in previous op., we have one of those kids pools in our garden that is just big enough - at a push - for adults to swim in. With the wonderful weather we've had lately I've had every child in the neighbourhood in at some point, plus two strapping sons and hubby. So I thought I ought to buy some aftersun to go with the numerous SPF creams I have on hand,to cool the burning bodies. In my local Superdrug I grabbed some Ambre Solaire which I've bought before for holidays. It was on offer at £4.99 for a tube containing 150ml. Think it's £6.99 at Boots. It was in the usual blue ... more

Advantages Advantages Aftersun & fake tan all in one, cooling and hydrating.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Orange nails and clothes.

Why I chose this product? I usually take my leftovers of suntan lotion and after sun on holiday but I read an article last year that the stability of sun protection lotions is unknown and as a result the shelf life of these products may have been over estimated. I quickly binned the dregs and half empty bottles that were lurking in my cupboards. New lotions and after sun were bought for my recent holiday to Kos, Greece. I bought Garnier Amber Solaire moisturising protection spray and Garnier Amber Solaire After Sun hydrating tan maintainer. The packaging has changed slightly so I've included a ... more

I saw this on special offer (B.O.G.O.F) in Superdrug just before my last holiday. What a bargain I thought as this normally retais at £6.99 per bottle (150ml). This just serves to remind me that some items are on special offer for a reason. ***The Product*** The product is easily identifiable as part of the Ambre Solaire product range, coming in a blue and white flip top tube which stands on its lid that has a large Garnier Ambre Solaire logo at the top and can usually be found with their other sun products in Boots, Superdrug and other major retailers. The after sun is advertised as being a ... more

"I am a bronzed Goddess" , or at least I was a few weeks ago, having just come back from a wonderful holiday in Lanzarote. Actually I was just bronzed, as, at just 5ft nothing, I certainly could never be described as a 'Goddess'! Of course, as we all know, those beautiful sun kissed (or for those more sensible ones......sun damaged) looks do tend to fade rather quickly once we get back to the good old British weather that we all love...Hee Hee. This time, however I was determined to make it last !! Hence I decided to try Ambre Solaire after Sun Tan Maintainer.(Now known as Garnier Ambre ... more

Advantages Advantages Enhances and boosts your natural tan

Disadvantages Disadvantages Own brand copies - they are not anywhere near as good

I cannot believe l am about to give away my tanning enhancing secret which l have kept quite about for the last 2 years not even telling my closest friends!! Ciao readers consider yourselves very lucky!! Ambre Solaire After Sun Tan Maintainer comes in a 500ml tub and can be found at the usual outlets - Boots, Superdrug, Tescos etc - its also available from online pharmacists also who stock sun products. It costs approximately £6.49 and is worth every single penny spent!! BEWARE - do not buy Tescos own brand which is cheaper - it does not work like the Ambre Solaire. So why is this product sooo ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages can streak if not applied properly

I purchased this originally because it was on offer at superdrug for £3.49, which is half price and had read about products like this in magazines, which help you keep that healthy suntanned glow. I started using this product after my first days sunbathing and found it made my skin sooo smooth unfortunately I had applied a little too much because the next day I was a little streaky around the bottom of my feet and now realise that you should treat it as a fake tan and should apply with care (and wash your hands afterwards!) But now I apply it correctly I found that it really works I know I’m ... more

Advantages Advantages tones down redness almost immediately, leaves you slightly tanned!

Disadvantages Disadvantages can stain your hands! take care rubbing in to avoid streaks!

I have been using this product for years now due to its great ability to do just as it says - after sun and tan maintainer! This is a great product and if you buy it around summer time, you can usually get some good offers on the price. This product is enriched with glycerol and vitamin E which is meant to prevent the skin peeling and leave it soft and supple. The product also contains small amounts of self tan to help maintain your natural tan. My opinion: I love this product! It is easily absorbed into the skin. It also has a nice smell. One important point to remember though is that it does ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cant think of any.

If you have fair skin and catch the sun easily like me then you need to try Ambre Solaire After sun Tan Maintainer. Normally I tend to go red and sometimes I burn. I have found over the past few years that Ambre Solaire after sun tan maintainer has not only given me a good looking tan over the redness but, it has also moisturised and soothed the areas that have been burned and dried out too. Before I started using this product did not really use any other sun cream so when I went looking for one I did not really have a clue as to what brand was the best to use. I basically looked at the ... more

Garnier Ambre Solaire After Sun Hydrating Tan Maintainer with Glycol and Vitamin E, Hydrates the skin and intensifies your suntan. You should use this if your skin needs rehydrating after a day in the sun, and if you want to prolong and intensify the look of your suntan, even after your holiday. Unlike normal moisturisers, this soothing, hydrating cream is specially developed to rebalance dehydrated skin that feels over-heated after sun exposure. Thanks to its low-level of self tanning ingredient, it subtly enhances and deepens your tan and helps your skin keep it's radiant holiday glow ... more

After returning from a fortnight in Greece with a lovely hard earned golden tan, my Mum suggested i borrow her tan maintainer. Sounded like a good idea, my tan would last longer and i wouldnt have to endure 100 degrees heat for it! The cream is slightly runny so be careful when you squeeze it out the bottle. And dont be tricked by the white colour of the cream, it turns brown after a while so make sure you wash your hands after applying it or you'll have brown palms!! Its says on the bottle to apply it evenly and try not to apply it to your hairline or eyebrows as it does contain a tanning ... more
