Advantages Advantages Easily applied, smells lovely and protects from sun at the same time

Disadvantages Disadvantages A low sun protection factor, so not for spending hour upon hour in the hot sun

Sitting at the tea table with my mother in law who is in her seventies and my sister in law who is in her thirties one Sunday the conversation came around to fragrances/smells. My mother in law was saying how a particular perfume always reminded her of going on holiday because she bought some once in the duty free shop at Heathrow. My sister in law said that Ambre Solaire always reminded her of holidays when she was little. Oh dear, I said Ambre Solaire reminded me of sex! My mother in law laughed her head off and my sister in law said Sue! in a really shocked voice. It took me a year or two ... more

I like to take care of my appearance and I am usually very careful about the products that I choose, generally as a result of suffering from allergies for years and intolerances to certain ingredients contained within some beauty products. I tend to research the items which I fancy trying out quite thoroughly and will normally get samples and testers before I commit to purchasing a full-sized product. I am not a mean Scot I just don't like to waste money needlessly!! Unfortunately I was going out one evening and I did not take my own advice. I had bought a lovely dress to wear as the venue was ... more

    Advantages Advantages Long lasting tan

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive

I have used this product on and off for a while now, and I must be on my 4th bottle. The cream goes on easily and it is coloured so you know where you have applied it, thus you do not suffer from streaking quite so much. This is an important point if like me you apply this bronzer all over. It also hase a pleasent smell that goes away after a few minutes. As for the bronzing effect it does take a couple of applications and a couple of days to really come out, but then again it also lasts for 10-14 days before fading and looks really natural. overall I think this is a very good product if a bit ... more

Advantages Advantages quite good for paler people, not a bad price

Disadvantages Disadvantages only suitable for some skins

1/3 OFF!! That's what got me...the advertising! I've always been the type to be drawn in by half price, buy one get one free and other such offers and it worked, yet again, it must be Boots bright red signs that attract my attention of something! What did I do next? Erm...sad as it is, I ran off to Zara to buy a new skirt so I could show off my newly tanned legs when I went out with my boyfriend that weekend!! Ok, so now you know what I bought it, but why did i buy this particular one? Well, although most of the self-tanning products were on offer, I opted for the Ambre Solaire. Probably ... more

    Advantages Advantages Easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Brought me out in a rash

During the early 70’s my Dad and I used to have a competition every summer. We would see who could develop the deepest tan, by whatever means possible! I don’t mean in using sun beds and the like, but purely by frying ourselves in the suns rays at every available opportunity. We would as a family, buy the lowest protection sun oil, and Yes it had to be oil, no ‘namby pamby’ creams for us hardy lot…Mind you there wasn’t the selection of protection factors available then, 8 was the highest if I remember correctly and I never saw anything higher than 4 in Mums ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, healthy glow, can look realistic, good for 'pasty' people, no cancer (don't think)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can make you tangoed (if overused)

Oh dear i hear you shriek loudly, a bloke with fake tan! Is there nothing worse? Quite frankly....no! And now it's me!!! My girlfriend was talking about buying what she thought was fake tan (it was actually a sunkist makeup) determined to prove her wrong (that you had to apply it everyday and it rubbed off) I went to Boots and actually bought a bottle of real fake tan, the 'Ambre Solaire - Moisturising Bronzer.' Why did I buy this one? Well... Firstly, most of the creams on the shelves were in tubes and I remember years ago my mum using a fake tan that was really thick and gooey and smelt like ... more

Advantages Advantages Very realistic, brown tan results

Disadvantages Disadvantages Need to take care to avoid lines and blotches

I've always dreamed of having a dark brown tan. But instead, I've been annually plagued with lots of brown freckles and red, miserable sunburn. Not good, especially as this year I've been inspired to venture into sleeveless tops - but with fair-white, speckled arms? No way! Fortunately, I was desperate enough to dive into the world of self-tanning products. After a shopping trip a few weekends ago, I discovered that there is quite a variety of products on the market - and lots of consumers also curious about them. It took about five minutes before I could manoeuvre my way past other poor pale ... more

    Advantages Advantages Works for me

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little pricey try buy if on offer

I have been married for almost 10 years and I have recently started faking it. The thing is my husband doesn't seem to mind..it is only once a week or there abouts, and it gives me a healthy glow..you did know I was talking about fake tan sprays didn't you Lol?! Well I am pretty pale to put it mildly. In fact years ago my hubby and I worked at the same pub together and he mentioned to a customer he was my boyfriend, who replied at the time.."Sonya? Isn't she the pale girl???" Great! Just before I got married I decided to go on a sun bed for a few sessions as we were flying to Greece for our ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages body mist can be patchy on legs

I'm new to Ciao, and I've spent the last 10 minutes trying to work out how to add pictures to this review. The reason being is that I really wanted to show readers of this review the before and after of this product. However - I think maybe because im a newbie Im not allowed to post pictures (Im not sure if im correct in this!) so I'll try and explain how fantastic this stuff is instead! So Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer - I have both the dry face mist and the body mist. Both are excellent products. I have an olive complexion so I always go for the Normal to dark skin one, but as someone has ... more

Advantages Advantages No mess, no orange hands or streaks, nice even and natural colour

Disadvantages Disadvantages You have to buy separate cans for the face and body, takes a while to develop

Intro ------ As I am approaching 30, I don't really have the desire to venture out to the pubs and clubs anymore but ........ as the mother of a 6 month old baby I felt I deserved to let my hair down, so when my friend invited me out for her birthday I jumped at the chance. My first problem was that I was now 2 dress sizes smaller than before I'd had my daughter so I headed straight to the shops to look for an outfit! I was very pleased with my purchase, a pair of skinny jeans, bardot top and accessories. There was just one thing bothering me - I was as pale as snow! My mother-in-law is always ... more
