Advantages Advantages Quality product, nice smell, nice texture

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Perhaps too expensive?

Fiber by American Crew is THE BEST WAX ever. And for £12 a tub (Size 3.53 Oz) its just as well thats its as good as it is. Suitable for any length of hair, you can create solid styles without any wet/greasy look as a side effect. Which is clearly a bonus, as a wet look is generally a BAD look. The packaging itself is sleek and with its large blue lid, easily recognisable, and you will probably recognise it from your local salon anyway as most good hairdressers stock this product. You wont be embaressed to have a few tubs of this in your bathroom! Unlike some less than great hair products that ... more

Advantages Advantages styles hair well, less sticky than wax

Disadvantages Disadvantages bit pricey, smells weird

My hairdresser first got me started on Fiber (note the American spelling) after a bit of persuasion - I mean, the 100 gram tub costs a tenner! But to shut him up I decided to give it a try. For quite a while I was happy using Tigi Bed Head, a blue, gooey, semi fibrous creme that did a pretty good job. But when I started using the American Crew Fiber I was impressed. It is called a 'Pliable Molding Creme' and is a thick, fibrous, semi solid creme. It isn't too eager to rub into the hair but once it does, you can style away with ease. My hair gets big and 80's when it gets longer but the Fiber ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent styling, matt effect, easy to use, actually works and holds

Disadvantages Disadvantages Higher than most price, availablility

I spent months trying to find the right product for my hair. I'm not a poser, I'm not a hairdresser, I'm just someone that likes to make an effort with their appearance. Many of the 'off the shelf' products available in the supermarkets and even some salons are all the same and produce dissapointing effects. I got bored with products all under different names, making different claims which all turned out to be some sort of slimey goo and never offered me the hold or style that I wanted, despite what it said on the packaging! I then came across American Crew Fibre. In short, this product is ... more

    Advantages Advantages quality product

Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive, sets quickly, won't suit people with fine hair

PRELUDE (skip this part if you dont have the time)... Getting sick of use supermarket mens hair styling products I decided to try American Crew Fiber. I have very thick hair (I am asian - Indian Origin) which tends to stick out and fuzz if cut short. Hair Wax gave me a greasy look and gel made my hair crusty and look like straw. So I was in search of a product that gave me a natural clean finish that gave good hold. AMERICAN CREW FIBER... You can only buy Amerian Crew online or from salons so dont go looking for it in your local shop. I paid £7.99 online for a 100ml tub. INITIAL IMPRESSIONS ... more

Advantages Advantages Smells nice, good hold

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none.

The hairdressing salon that I go to promote the full American Crew brand ranging from wax to shampoo`s, conditioner`s, etc. Whenever I was in having my hair styled this was the brand of product they used so I decided to give American Crew a try. I have a short to medium length hair cut which has various spiky bits which require products which can provide good hold. Lots of the styling gels I had previously used tended to make the hair rock hard and matt it together. American Crew fibre gives a matt texture look without shine, designed for use on contemporary chopped and textured styles to get ... more

Advantages Advantages Perfect for a messy disheveled look

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only suitable for short hair - not a strong a hold

This is definitaly a popular product in the UK at the moment, and so I thought I'd give it a go. All I can say is that, if you have short hair, this is a great great product for a messed up look, which doesn't endup looking greasy or wet. The only problem is the hold of the product, I felt at this price a stronger hold would have been included, but I find the hold generally wears thin after a few hours. With longer hair however, this fiber is far too hard to work through the length, it will make hair clump together. Overall, if you have short hair and you want to go for a messy look, I'd ... more

Advantages Advantages It works and it comes off your fingers easily

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive

American Crew's 'Fiber' is, according to the lid, a 'pliable moulding creme'. Most blokes will find its effects and texture fairly reminiscent of hairwax. Like wax it is best for fairly short hairstyles - it won't hold up spikes, but it does do a very good job of keeping carefully tousled short hair in order. More Jamie Theakston than Freddie Ljungberg, then. A big plus of the product though, is that it actually comes of your fingers after use really easily under hot running water, avoiding that horrible sticky-hands feeling that wax users all know too well. I am not sure how widely available ... more

Advantages Advantages very easy to use doesn't feel oily, holds and defines texture. Only need a small amount

Disadvantages Disadvantages non apart from packaging is a bit brown

American Crew Fiber WaxI use this on my hair daily and after using it my hair style has really defined texture, my hair is very short, thick and wavy/straight and fiber is very good at helping me control my hair. I also use it on my male clients in the salon and in my opinion its a good product for short neat hair styles and messy more textured looks it shapes and molds the hair with incredible hold, if you want a mat finish, that you don't get from a wax, then this is for you it also washes out from the hair reallt easy unlike some styling waxes and smell good too. Its avaliable from most ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Value for Money

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I have been using this for 5 years now and won't use anything else. I have medium length, coarse hair and have tried countless different products before finding this one. All of the hair products I tried were either two greasy and soaked straight into my hair giving no hold or too sticky creating an unnatural look. Fibre is a great product it is thick so you only need a tiny amount and when you rub it into your hair it gives it a matte texture with great hold. If your aim is for "bed head" or the surfer look then this is for you. In fact it is quite versatile I style my hair in a smarter style ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice smell and packaging, stays well on hair

Disadvantages Disadvantages Effect of product on skin

This product was recommended to me by a friend. It had nice packaging and a nice smell so I assumed it would be an excellent product, as well as being from a reputable company. However, within 1 hour of application my skin started to itch which soon spread to my whole face. It became unbearable and I washed my hair to remove the product. Straight after my skin stopped itching and returned to normal. I left my hair free of product for a few days, then tried Fiber again to see if it really was that, but the same happened again. Whilst this product may not cause problems for most people, I would ... more
