Advantages Advantages So good you can't put it down!

Disadvantages Disadvantages None that I can think of!

Once again you can trust Marian to provide a fast and witty read that also includes a level of emotion and sadness. It's absolutely brilliant and it took me all of two days to read! I just couldn't put it down! It is very difficult for me to review this book without giving too much away. The first few chapters have an air of mystery and I don't want to ruin it for any of you that go on to read it but I'll try my best! Background on Marian Keyes: She was born in the west of Ireland in 1963 and was brought up in Dublin. She spent her twenties in London, and despite having a law degree she worked ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautifully written, great characters and story.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little bit predictable.

Anybody Out There by Marian Keyes. This number one bestseller by Marian Keyes comes with all the ingredients of being a great book, it will break your heart one chapter and make you laugh the next. Not only does it take a talented author to produce such writing, it also takes a genius idea for a story. Marian Keyes is an Irish international best-selling author who has had huge success with many novels including; Sushi for Beginners, Watermelon, Rachel’s Holiday and The Other Side of The Story. Marian is known best for her personal style of writing which is emotional and comedic. I have read ... more

Advantages Advantages Very good chick-lit read, good characters, funny and sad

Disadvantages Disadvantages Difficult to put down

Background I am not a great reader - I generally have the attention span of a toddler, but I have seen Marian Keyes on a variety of spin-off shows such as BBLB and It takes two and always thought she was incredibly funny and witty, so thought I would give one of her books a go. I got this is Asda for £3.50 and I think that is about as cheap as I have seen it anywhere. This is Keyes' fourth insight into the Walsh sisters following Watermelon (Claire), Rachel's holiday (Rachel - obviously) and Angels (Maggie.) Anybody out there follows the fortunes of Anna Walsh. I haven't read the other books ... more

Advantages Advantages Well written and intriguing plot.

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you don't like Keyes' other novels you probably won't like this one either.

Anybody Out There is the latest novel by Irish author Marian Keyes. I have reviewed Keyes’ Under the Duvet before so if you are interested in more background information about the author feel free to read that review. This particular novel is the fourth in the series about the Walsh sisters. Keyes has previously written Watermelon (about Claire), Rachel’s Holiday (about Rachel) and Angels (about Maggie). In this fourth novel we get to follow Anna, a very eccentric young woman who has only played a very small part in the previous novels. All I knew about Anna before reading this book was that ... more

Advantages Advantages a good heavy read to be lost in

Disadvantages Disadvantages it has an ending

This was my first encounter with the authors work, and not generally a book I would have chosen, however, this was a gift and one never looks a gift horse in the mouth…so to speak. From page one I was hooked. The story opens with an account of our heroine, Anna Walsh and mysteriously eludes to her many injuries without stating the cause. I loved Anna from the start and although it would have been quite easy to think "oh lucky for her", as she describes the love of her husband and her life with him and if that wasn't enough tell us all about her job which of course is "the best job in the ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic characters & story lines, well written, gripping book.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

Anybody Out There? is by Marian Keyes and after seeing this book almost everywhere I went for several months I spotted a copy in the charity shop for a bargain 50p and decided to give it a try. Anybody Out There? follows Anna Walsh, the more dreamy of the Walsh sisters and her battle with trying to understand just what has gone wrong with her marriage and why her husband does not want to get in touch with her despite her persistent efforts to contact him. There is also a smaller plot running throughout the book between Anna's sister Helen Walsh who is now a detective and their mother, Mama ... more

Marian Keyes is an amazing well known author, she started writing her first book in 1993 and finished it in 1995 since then shes written 6 more novels which sold over 10million copies in 32 different languages. Anybody out there is one of my favourite books and her most recent. While reading it i couldnt put it down. It leaves you guessing and wanting to read on. The book follows the life of Anna Walsh a New yorker with an amazing job at Candy Grrrl. The book shows that she has had an accident but doesnt say how. This is one of the best bits in the book...not knowing whats happend. The ... more

    Advantages Advantages funny, sad, entertaining

Disadvantages Disadvantages can't think of any.

Anybody Out There is Marian Keyes 8th novel and the fourth to focus on the fortunes of the Walsh sisters. That's not to say howerever that they're part of a series. They are written in such a way that they could all be independently read, but, of course, you would not be aware of the references you are missing out on. Regardless, if you're reading this as your first foray into Marian Keyes work or you're an avid fan, it's a one you won't want to put down. The story opens with Anna Walsh badly injured and sleeping in her parents Good Front Room back in Ireland. All she wants to do is go back to ... more

Advantages Advantages An easy to read, beautifully written novel. Full of laughs and tears.

Disadvantages Disadvantages I didn't want it to end!

This novel is the perfect mix of comedy coupled with every other emotion under the sun. A thoroughly good read. It is beautifully and very cleverly written, keeping you hooked whilst maintaining your curiosity to find out exactly what has happened to Anna in New York. I did not want to put this book down and i am sure that i will read it again (once i get it back from my friends!). I don't want to give anything away about the plot, so i shall just say this... Her family in Ireland are fantastically bonkers (her Mum and sister are hilarious) , this provides a truly comic element . The novel ... more
