Introduction My college was the place of change in operating system for me, as a graphic designer on a related course, the whole department was fully furnished with Macintosh computers and one memorable room with brand spanking new top of the line iMacs. At first, the many apples were intimidating with their arctic white, glossy shine and backwards way of functioning. The first thing standing out was the change of sides, from the dektop items to the open applications and web-tabs, the 'X' for close, square for maximize and underline for minimize moved from right to left and replaced with ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks good, really easy to use, so many apps and programs avaliable

Disadvantages Disadvantages no longer make them!

Why and Where: Right so I'll admit, I wanted this macbook for little else than the pretty whiteness of it all at first. Plus the fact that I was incredibly impressed by my iPhone, the ease of use, the apps etc. So when my 18th birthday rolled around I knew exactly what to ask for. Due to the price I had to chip in a little (fair I suppose!), and my dad ordered it off the Apple website itself. As I am in university he got the education pricing which I think is around a 5% discount, every little helps! I got an extra 2 GB of ram boosting it up to 4 GB and also got Microsoft Office for Mac ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks good, Easy to use, 2.4Ghz, Webcam, Upgradeable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cheap plastic, Not very durable, a bit expensive

As I've stated in my other reviews I'm a big apple fan, I also have an iMac and an iPod Touch. But to be honest I was a little disappointed at apple for this product. Ease of Use Now this being an apple product it is very easy to use, I've always thought that you could hand an apple mac to somebody who has never even heard of a computer and they could instantly be able to use it. This macbook lives up to that, even somebody with no experience of computers could do something productive on it, with its very well laid out keyboard and its easy to use large trackpad (even if mine for some reason ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautiful design and intuitive to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit heavy to carry around

My partner has always been the avid Mac fan. He convinced me to get one when I finally decided I should have my own laptop just over a year ago. It is so sleek and well designed that using it is an absolute pleasure. I took to it like a duck to water and now wonder what life was like without one. I bought it around June 2009. My Macbook has the following spec: Processor: 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory: 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3 I certainly find it adequately fast to use. Mostly I use it for internet surfing and especially watching IPlayer and other television channels. I chose the 13 inch screen so ... more

Advantages Advantages easy to use, great quality and battery life

Disadvantages Disadvantages slightly heavy, picks up dirt easily, no Office

This macbook is excellent! I must admit, I never really new why people would rave about mac's but after getting one I now know why. It is stylish, the visual and sound quality is good, it starts up quickly, it's very quiet, and once you are used to the layout it is very easy to use (and efficient). I bought this mac about 6-9 months ago off my brother as he got himself the macbook pro. He had it for about a year prior to that and has never had a problem with it. Likewise, I never experienced any faults. The battery still last up to 4 hours (depending on what your running) without the mains ... more

Advantages Advantages Very fast and powerful, and small and portable too

    Disadvantages Disadvantages unhelpful staff, delicate

I have always been a mac man, and I upgraded to a 2.4GHz MacBook with 4GB RAM and 320GB HDD from my old trusty PowerMac G5 because of the lack of software compatibility with PPC processors, and I have to say the amount of speed difference was impressive, and instantly noticeable over the G5. I use the laptop as a desktop, by plugging it into my external screen, keyboard, mouse, stereo, Ethernet, basically everything that I had in my G5. I done a benchmark test, and the macbook scored higher than everything on the G5 except for hard drive speed, which isn't really noticeable. For a computer ... more

Advantages Advantages Sleek, High resolution, Beautiful to look at, Rarely any flaws.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery Life could be longer

I have fully enjoyed my experience with my Macbook so far; I have had no issues with performance or battery (though it could be longer) and it just looks so nice! Stunning resolution just makes the experience more enjoyable, and 2.4 GHz runs like a dream. First time buyers I sincerely recommend, students going to Uni I sincerely recommend, in fact, everyone should invest in one of these; they are just that good. However, games are not the biggest thing on a mac right now, it's a growing market, so maybe one day there will be more, but for now gamers should hold out on this. Time Machine set up ... more

Advantages Advantages Everything about it is excellent

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I have been a Windows user for as long as I can remember, but last year I started to read up about changing to a mac. Nearly every review said how good mac's are. I finally bought this macbook in November and have been amazed at its speed and reliability. The macbook has not once crashed, starts up and shuts down in seconds unlike my pc where I am still waiting 3 mins later. I thought that changing from a pc to a mac would be difficult, as the layout and the way you do things is different. But the difference is definitely a positive, its simple and very easy to use. You can even get a version ... more

Advantages Advantages quick, reliable, small and easy to use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages battery life not as long as would be preferred.

Definitely an excellent buy!! I've recently started uni and this macbook was my first investment. All classmates have them and they are unmistakably the preferred choice to an ordinary pc. Slightly different to how a normal pc functions but quick and easy to get used to. I haven't had any problems and have loved it since the day i bought it. Its fast, reliable, small and easy to slot in your bag and take with you and lets face it, it definitely looks good . The only bad thing i have noticed about my laptop is how long the battery lasts, but then again I am on it constantly and what laptop ... more

Advantages Advantages Speed, portability, style, practicality, ease of use, potential for advanced computing.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A key once came off keyboard, compatibility with PC software, price.

My mother when I was younger always told me that using mac was the way forward, so when one christmas she let on that I could have a computer of my chose, she immediately wondered if I wanted a mac or not. Being a young and rebellious youth I was though, and swayed by the temptation of online gaming (whilst not being too savvy when it comes to computers) I chose to go for a HP pc. At the time, this seemed like a great choice, and I was impressed by the computer, but as time went on it was essentially not up to scratch, viruses roamed freely and the operating system took longer to load then I ... more
