Hahaha, finally all the years of trailing around as “the friend”, “the houseguest”, “the girlfriend” and now “the fiancée” of ‘him indoors’ has finally paid off as the boy has come good. His latest technical contract is with a graphic design company that issues all its employees with Apple Powerbook laptops. Regular readers of my ops know how much I love techie bits and pieces and therefore can imagine the unparalled joy on my face when he came home with his new toy the other week. In the name of quality assurance and to make certain that it actually does work after his Herculean effort of ... more

Advantages Advantages OSX is slick, Gorgeous looks, Great Bundled Apps!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Extremely Expensive, Gets Very Hot!

On the face of it, the PB G4 is awesome. I mean that in the least "college-kid" sense. It literally inspires awe! The aluminium casing is sheek and smooth. The whole unit is a masterpiece of design. The screen is beautifully bright and the keyboard illluminates with finesse and style. Hang on, isn't it a computer? This is my point. The PowerBook looks so good, it almost diguises the fact it isn't really a very good computer. I have owned mine now for nearly a year, since November 2005. Due to the nature of what I do, a mac is necessary and I was slightly pleased to actually be getting one ... more

Advantages Advantages Light, tough and has a huge screen

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Small hard-drive

-sigh- Finally, a capable computer from Apple that won't be called "fruity" or "girly." The first PowerBook was released in 1991 and ever since then it's been a steady climb out of the land of small screens, wimpy batteries, and teensy hard disks. Apple's PowerBooks are so good now that the only reason they cost so much, I'd guess, is to give their desktop machines a reason for being. Every year the PB gets better, and this year is no exception. Especially compared to previous redesigns, the Titanium is a worthy 10th anniversary Powerbook. You don't have to be a Mac-lover to want one of these ... more

Advantages Advantages Good laptop, easy to use, good software bundle

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, expensive software, not 100% PC compatible

I have only recently acquired my PowerBook at a cut-throat price in the January sales and I am already extremely proud of the computer. This is my first-ever Macintosh PC and I can see why Apple's fans are so enthusiastic about their brand of PC. The PowerBook looks like any other silver coloured laptop externally, bar the large white apple logo on the lid which gives away it's pedigree immediately. The case is a very sleek aluminium-type metal which gives an early indication of the quality contained within. Opening the lid reveals a large 15.2" widescreen TFT, a standard laptop-size keyboard ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Out dated...

Why it is called PowerBook? ****************************** Is there any super power in this laptop? Lets have a deep discuss about this PowerBook and we will explore about it power. Actually it has a power of budget laptop, not a configuration power, because it has low configured budget notebook. If we are planning to go for 17" notebook but in reasonable price than we can consider it. Now I will enter in deep about the available features and its performance strategy. Generally it is out dated notebook and in present aspects it is more or less not suitable with latest applications but as a ... more

    Advantages Advantages versatility, looks, speed

Firstly, I have to applaud those people at apple, for once again producing a user friendly, supercomputer. This beast has the looks of a superage 'Terminator' and the feel of a top of the range sports car. This is great for anybody, and I mean that, unlike many of the other models that have been produced by apple, this actually fits to anybody, whether you are an eight-year-old child, or an OAP, who would like to brush up on his or her PC skills. There are currently three sizes available, 12", 15", and 17", all of which many people would have seen in that funny advert with the tall eastern man ... more

Advantages Advantages Thin, sleek, stylish, large screen and powerfull

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not very portable.

As with all Apple products, the PowerBook G4 range of laptops are stylish and sexy and never look out of place in a film or advert. The three different monitor sizes available (12", 15" and 17") seem to provide a nice range covering those who want something ultra portable up to those who want a big screen with the usual laptop advantages. However, in my opinion the 17" doesn't really have a proper use as a computer. By this I mean that the noticeable difference in viewing area between the 15" and 17" model isn't a great deal and only really stands out when you compare the two side by side. For ... more

Well the G4 Powerbook has finally arrived and isn't it a tasty bit of kit? Apple has managed to squeeze the brilliant G4 Processor into a one inch thick, sleek as you like, titanium sex machine. This is probably the best built laptop i've ever seen for professional use. The clean lines of it's rugged titanium body are a departure from the previous Powerbook designs which were curved and more bulky. It's also a million miles away from the design of the iBook, Apple's highly successful consumer laptop. The iBook, although probably the most durable laptop in the world has been criticised for ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautiful (of course); never shutdown (almost); easy as pie to use and just as tasty.

Disadvantages Disadvantages (unlucky me) Apple support weirdness; could be faster; heat.

By cool in the header, I mean stylish, but let's get the bad points out of the way first, as I don't like to be critical. This review refers to the original 12-inch PowerBook, I see they've recently released a new model that has a couple of cosmetic enhancements and faster processor, yet I heard they still haven't fixed the heat problem. Not that I consider it as much of a problem as some, but it's there, and if you think it will bother you, think twice before buying. For me, my primary concern about the heat was whether it was harming the computer in any way. Now I'm (fairly) convinced that ... more

WOW, I have just been given one of these babies to play with - through work. THEY ARE AMAZING I'm not going to spend time introducing you to MAC OS (Apple's Windows) - but if you are a PC user it's like this: Its quite similar to windows but more user friendly & powerful! (Get the picture) If you have money to burn then this is the ultimate choice. Its just great for online/offline gaming, it is capable of doing amazing things with sound and graphics. Movie editing, music mixing - this can do it all. Its a weapon of mass perfection! Your better off with an i-book if its just wordporcessing and ... more
