I spent ages recently deciding what new mobile phone to get. I wanted touch screen but also wanted the best in terms of gadgets and things that the phone could do other than be a phone.
I looked at the N97 which looked to be fantastic against the reviews and also the TG1 from Toshiba. Now i could go into all the specifications of the iphone compared to the rest, but when i was looking that ment nothing to me. I needed to know if the phone was fast, ... ...and also was it the best in terms of value.
To start with the iphone has the second biggest screen behind the Toshiba TG1. The iphone interface is what you make it. Your apps fill the menu screen so you decide what is on them. The apps come from the app store and when i tell you that the apps range from games to eye sight tests you really dont get the full picture. This phone is awesome. The thing I have always found to be a major advantage of apples products is that they do everything they are supposed to do, as they are supposed to do it. This is most certainly the case with the iphone. The internet in theory should work really well, the safari 'app' which I first came across on the first ipod touch was brilliant, allowing you to really use the internet properly, instead of the poor version of the internet ... ...it just works. the transition between wifi and 3g which i foresaw as a problem is seemless. As soon as the phone picks up wifi signals it will offer a connect to wifi screen, and as soon as you leave this wifi area it will switch back to 3g the internet on my iphone is honestly quicker than my housemates windows 7 pc. the apps come in extremely useful, and although ive only had it for a short time i cant imagine living without it. google maps are ...

...to this beautiful iPhone 3GS, Apple never ceases to amaze me. The iPhone has come (perhaps from the original 2G one) leaps and bounds, and has now (in my opinion, of course :D) taken the Mobile Phone market completely. However, with O2 being the only contract dealer (Phone4U and Carphone Warehouse sell them, but with O2 sims), if you're with any other company, you're a bit stuffed. The 3GS comes with some new interesting upgradey-type things from ... ...Video recording and Voice recognition software. Along with this, the new OS, 3.0 allows users of the iPhone (for free) to Copy and Paste, as well as send MMS's to other people. The 3GS comes in 16GB or 32GB, and in Black or White. The original 3G has discontinued white, so if you're really after that stunning white iPhone, 3GS is your only option... unless you buy from eBay :D The Camera has been upgraded to a 3MegaPixel, with some nice little touches ...

...stand out feature of the Apple Iphone has to be the Safari Internet browsing. If you purchase the phone on the right contract browsing is free and unlimited data downloads. Miles ahead of any competitor out there. Another handy feature with the Iphone 3gs is E-mail, which is extremly easy to set up and is a very handy tool for business use, although still not as good as Blackberry Email in terms of speeds and cost if you where to use the phone abroad. ... ...get bored of easily due to the amount of different Apps available through the store. After using the phone for 4 months ive experienced no real problems and found the different Apps extremly useful. This comes in two models in the UK, the 16gb and the 32gb. ...were asking for and apple have finally delivered. The quality isn't amazing but it gets the job done and the trimming feature is great for those who want to upload video's straight to the www.
VOICE CONTROL - lets you play music or call someone simply by speaking , this isn't perfect and can occasionally get mixed up between similar words but it's still a pretty cool function.
COMPASS - ok at the moment this is more a quirky feature than anything ... ...18 month contract ,as if apple sticks to it's current upgrade once a year system , being on the 24 month one would mean having to wait a full year before getting your hands on the new one. As far as smart phones go though , it's still the best choice out there and if you have the money then this may just be the best choice you could make. ...

I just upgraded from the iPhone (old) to the new 3GS. The difference in performance is obvious from the minute go. The interface is great. Easy to use. The slide and shake is just brilliant. The GPS on the phone, also called the Compass works quite well. However sometimes it does take a lot of time to hook onto the satellites. But once it does that, it is really easy to use. The camera is pretty ordinary. But does its job. You dont buy the iPhone ... ...a great feature. However its a good place to spend a lot of money buying apps that you dont really need. So be careful. Most iPhone apps have free demo versions, get them first and then upgrade if you really like them. The key board interface is easy to use. And once you get used to it, you can pretty much type (nearly) as fast as on a proper keyboard. I have recently also bought the Nokia N97. Which is good fun and it does quite a few things a lot ...
