5 Stars Brains and beauty: iPod has it all. Review with images 18/03/2004

Advantages Advantages Super-stylish digital music player with the power to back it up.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Apple will bring out a better version.

My own iPod is the 20GB, 3rd generation model, usually bought for around £299.99. If you’re a student, like me, you’ll be pleased to hear that you can take advantage of massive discounts through the education section of the Apple site: www.apple.com/education Small, yet perfectly formed. ------------------------------------ I unwrapped my iPod on that first day, plucked it from the polystyrene and simply stared at it for a while. It was gorgeous. Not only was it surprisingly small and streamlined [fitting perfectly in the palm of my hand] but it was slick and gleaming, the pearly white casing ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks Good, Great Sound Quality, Makes You Cool!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Scratches Easily, Technical Features Don't Compare Well to Others.

I bought my Ipod in early September (I think), as I had been planning on getting one for a while. But I waited for the 4g version to come out, and went onto amazon and bought it for £215. I think the price is dropping slowly, but don't expect to get one for much less than £200 unless you go 2nd hand, or imported from the US. Why Ipod? ----------------------------------- I don't think that I fully appreciated how much my Ipod would mean to me when I decided upon it, I really had no idea how much I would use it. I knew I had alot of MP3s, and I knew I liked listening to them, and I knew that I ... more

Advantages Advantages Slick design, large amount of storage space, good interface

Disadvantages Disadvantages No recording features on the move, battery life could be better, surface will never be clean after opening, expensive

A review of the 3rd generation 20GB iPod (Windows) I have had the Apple iPod for a few weeks now; that is not a long time in the slightest, but it has served me exceptionally so far. Let me start from receiving the package. Opening the package Apple have done an amazong job with the packaging. Unacking the iPod is an experience in itself. The box has two compartments, which flip open like a book. Every part is packing in shiny silver too! At first glance the iPod appears tiny - after a while, it wears off though. You will also notice how shiny the back of the iPod is.Beleive me, it is ... more

    Advantages Advantages Super Sexy

    Disadvantages Disadvantages HOW MUCH????

Okay, the first thing that should be mentioned is the cost of this MP3 player. At £250+ (depending where you shop - AVG £299) it can certainly put a dent in you wallet. After spending this much money, you would hope that you can get home and plug it in. This is okay if you are a Mac owner however, for us PC owners it is a different story.... The 20Gb IPod is supplied with a dcking station and firewire cable which you can use to plug into the power adapter (to charge the battery) or into your firewire socket on your PC. What do you mean your PC doesn't have a Firewire connection? How about a ... more

The Apple Third Generation Ipod is not the latest in the music technology but at the same time it is not old or useless. An Ipod is a storage designed for you entire CD collection to be uploaded onto and played as if it was a handheld CD player just it hold more than 12 songs. It has blazing Download Speeds and can play music crystal clear. ---------------------------- Design Of the ipod An ipod is in the shape of a DVD case just a lot smaller. It will fit in the palm of your hand but it is as thin as a DVD case and the shape of one including the curved edges. The Screen The screen is an LCD ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, Light, 20 Mins Anti-Skip

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Price

Apple's 3rd Generation iPod is everything that you would hope for from an MP3 player. It's small, light, easy-to-use and is very stylish. More and more MP3 players will be released over the course of 2004, however Apple has set an almost unreachable target that companys will have to work night and day to even reach parity. SOUND QUALITY - as with all MP3 players a lot will depend on firstly the quality of the MP3. The quality can range from 92Kbps* (usually used to encrypt audio-books) to 320Kbps (for hard-core music lovers, where sound is everything. The standard quality is 192Kbps. If you ... more

Advantages Advantages Stylish, Loads of Storage, Good selection of Accessories included, iTunes Software works well

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery - See Review

The iPod has become the most popular hard-disk based MP3 Player. I chose the 20GB model even though 15GB is enough for me. This was because for a small amount more you can get a load of accessories that I would have bought anyway and 5GB extra storage. I chose Amazon to buy mine from because ordering direct from Apple would have cost £40 more and over a week longer. I also ordered the "iPod Dock Connector to USB2 + Firewire" cable because my PC uses USB2 and has no Firewire ports. When I decided to buy it I was wondering if it would be too simple for a more technical person like myself, but I ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages none that come to mind

Before I start on this review I first must apologise for the lack of originality of this review because I know that there are hundreds of ipod reviews out there but I need to keep my hand in so I chose something very simple. INTRO The ipod is really a breakthrough in the music and MP3 market it has literally changed the way that music and record companies operate the ipod is really easy to use and it looks great. Sound quality The sound quality on the ipod is absolutely brilliant and I definitely prefer it to the other MP3’s that I have tried before. The headphones are brilliant and ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery Life, Back Prone to Scratch

I have had my ipod for a few weeks now, and let me say that it is nothing short of breathtaking. Every aspect, from the packaging to the UI has been carefully thought out and works well. Packaging When the ipod drops on your doorstep, it is packaged in a rather nifty cube. Opening the box is an experiance in itself, with many compartments for the different parts. The package itself is pretty comprehensive, and includes a dock, headphones, remote control, carrycase, bag, software, firewire cable, 4-pin firewire adapter and a charging plug. And an ipod, of course! Appearence Pictures of the ipod ... more

Advantages Advantages Absolutely beautiful, lots of space, excellent GUI

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very expensive, the back gets fingerprinted easily, you need firewire

I have a new iPod (3G) 20GB. it is the best toy I have ever had. if you're thinking of buying one, do it. With a price tag of £300, its not the cheapest player ever, but i feel that the price is well justified. If youre a student, you can get it for £275 [go through Apple Education]. The 20GB version comes with the iPod, the Dock, a remote control, some headphones, and a power pack (for charging) plus the cables to connect it all (but not, unfortunately a USB2 cable - buy one separately for around £20) and a carrying case. Everything comes wrapped up nicely, in a little square box that opens ... more
