Advantages Advantages Slim, Great Battery, Good Sound Quality., good build quality.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Scratches quite easily, new firmware mainly brings cosmetic changes.

So here we are again, another Ipod to add to the increasing line of apple mp3 players. What are the differences? What does it sound like? Is is durable? How much does it cost? These are just some of the questions I will hopefully answer in this review. Right then, on with the show. ----------What Is An Ipod Classic?---------- An ipod classic is the flagship model and latest addition to Apple's mp3 player market. It was released in the fourth quarter of 2007 and is technically the 6th generation of the Ipod or '6G'. The classic replaces the ipod video (5/5.5G). The term 'classic' in my ... more

**UPDATE** After having this iPod for 18 months now, I thought I'd update my review as parts of it are no longer true. This review was updated 22.07.09 :-) ** UPDATE** I'll have owned my iPod Classic for two years when December comes, so at the end of this review I'll give you an update on how it's running almost 24 months after it was first purchased. I was hesitant about buying an iPod as my first, an iPod mini a few years ago, broke and never mended itself as soon as I bought it. It was sent back and I've been using other (decent) players since. But iPods are so popular I decided to give ... more

Advantages Advantages Sleek, stylish and holds loads of music

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite expensive

iPods have come a long way from their humble roots of being a personal music player. With the ability to play music, play videos and be used as a photo viewer I think that Apple have gone too far. Apple have developed a niche since the iPod is more than an MP3 player but not quite a fully blown multi media player. The iPod has become a bit of a middle-man. My 20gb iPod was getting a bit tatty and whilst it had served me well it had taken quite a lot of abuse and was getting tired. It was time for an upgrade but I was confused what to buy. There are so many MP3 players on the market it has ... more

Advantages Advantages Good build, decent sound, lots of storage.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sound limiting, doesn't convert movies to MP4

How do you even start a review about the iPod Classic? There are so many reviews already but is it all hype? As this is my first iPod, I have the fortune of not comparing it with any other version. I can however compare it with other MP3/4 players I've owned like the Samsung yh-999 or my Sony minidisc. When I purchased my iPod from Misco for £152 a couple of months ago, I also purchased a metal/acrylic case to protect it. I took the iPod out the box and without touching it I slid it into it's little protector. The reason I did this is because my wife bought the iTouch and the stainless steel ... more

Ipod classic is the latest model in the Ipod family and unlike the Ipod's multi-touch screen this model stick to the same scrool wheel navigation as previous ipods. The dimensions if the new ipod classic is 4.1/2.4/0.4 inches and weighs at 140 grams. The display is a 2.5" LCD screen with LED backlight at 320 by 240 pixels which is the same size as the previous model but gives a brighter look. The ipod comes with the standard cables and earphones with no drivers as the drivers are part of the iTunes application. The battery is a built-in rechargable lithium ion battery with life of up to 30 ... more

Advantages Advantages Massive hard drives available

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Clunky and clumsy

My experience The reason why this review will not be as forgiving and positive as other's i have found is because i believe though this product was good for its time around, three years ago, now with the Ipod touch and other multi-functional modern MP4 available this product is trying to capture the wrong market. I will elaborate slightly for those who are finding it hard to be convinced. This product is simply a large hard drive which can store vast amounts of music or like files which at the consumers connivence will play, stop or pause - relatively simple stuff then. So i raise the question ... more

Advantages Advantages Great storage and battery life for an apple product

Disadvantages Disadvantages They lose their reliability in years to come

I got this for Christmas many years ago when I was new to the world of iTunes. I was in secondary school at the time and everybody in class seemed to have an MP3 Player but the most popular MP3s out there was this iPod classic. Having an iPod was a fashion statement and Apple products are still popular to this day. You can store plenty of songs, videos and photos on this, possibly more than you can imagine. At one point I had over 10,000 songs on my iPod. I also have an iPod touch that I had for my 18th birthday and I think these are big improvement. I've owned my iPod classic for a long time ... more

I have had quite a few MP3 players and from my experience the Apple Ipod is the best one! It has most things you could want. Positives 1. It is very good value for money. Mine was £160.00 which for 80GB worth of space is amazing! I think I must have bought it at a very good time because Apple had started to reduce the prices! 2. There are lots of features available to you; alarm, podcast, movies, photos, able to shuffle songs etc. 3. It is good that the ipod allows you to manually manage your music because it means that you can plug your ipod into someone else's itunes and take an album and ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Barely any, maybe the screen is a tad small

Up 'till about 2 months ago i was proud to be one of the few people who didnt own an ipod of some sort. I considered myself to be going against the trend, standing against the monopoly that is the ipod. How wrong i was, it wasnt untill i'd got through about my 3rd MP3 player in a year, that i decided enough was enough and i would go against my beliefs and take the plunge. One of the best retailing decisions of my life. Firstly, you dont realise the true elegance of this machine untill you have it in your hand. No picture shows the incredible lightness and the beautifully styled metal backing ... more

This is a smashing little device for listening to music files or watching your video clips on the move. As always Apple's design is sleek, stylish and highly ergonomic. As far as battery life is concerned you should get about 30 hours if you're listening to music or 5 hours for video clips. The iPod 80 GB comes with plenty of features. There are different categories into which you can place your music files. Cover-flow allows you to scroll through albums - you just click on one to play it. You can also access music according to the artist, composer, album, genre, songs, audio books you've ... more
