Advantages: helps to make potentially dangerous water safe Disadvantages: none that i know of
Just one more fishy themed review for the time being, this is another product I whole heartedly recommend that anyone keeping fish should have on hand. As we all know the tap water in the UK is safe for us to drink, but has several chemical additives as well as traces of the metals used in the pipes, among these are chlorine and metal ions, these while harmless to humans and large pets -cats, dogs etc - are not so good for fish in fact can kill them.
... ...for aquaria to stand for a minium of 24 hours sometimes this just isnt practical so what else can you do? There are a number of similar products on the market designed to neutralise the dangerous traces in the water. This one is the one I have in my cupboard of fish keeping spares, it claims to have ingredients which help to protect the gills of your fish, also to protect fish from wounds and scrapes (as can be caused by boisterous behaviour around ...

Advantages: Gets rid of dangerous chemicals, may save a fish's life Disadvantages: Isn't a cure all if your fish get these chemicals in their system.
After having our fish tank for close to a year, we've decided to get a new tank, a fifty gallon one. Since we hadn't cleaned our current ten gallon tank in months, we decided to spend Saturday doing so. Never in my life did I think cleaning our tank would kill our fish but that's what ended up happening. We lost three tetras and a pleco. Puzzled, and very worried about our two Angels, we payed a late night (1 a.m.) visit to Wal-Mart searching for ... ...AquaSafe thinking that in our 100% water change (Don't ever do this!), we might have chemicals in the tank. The PH tested out fine at 7.4 for the angels but that was far too high for a community tank which is supposed to be kept at neutral.
Unfortunately for us, when we did research on the internet we found out there are a great many chemicals in tap water that can kill fish in a matter of hours. Chlorine, Cloramine and several other chemicals were ...

Advantages: saves your fish, easy to use, don't need much Disadvantages: none at all
I kept coldwater fish years ago, and we always added AquaSafe to the water. It is a thick blue liquid that neutralises all the metal ions/chlorine/chemicals in your tap water, making it safe to go in your tank. You add 5ml per 10 litres/2 gallons.
It acts by neutralising the chemicals in the water, and also by coating the fish with a layer to protect them from bumps, abrasions and infections. It also contains vitamin B1 which reduces the stress ... ...about £1.35 for 30ml (6 water changes).
I have just visited our pet shop and bought a small goldfish starter kit for my 4 year old son. I know it is not the best of setups without a filter, but it contains a tank, gravel, food, bottle of AquaSafe, and 2 goldfish. I am worried to death that they will be okay for the first critical few hours. My son has named them goldie and brownie. ...

Advantages: Makes tap water suitable for fish Disadvantages: Dont use too much
Tetra Aquasafe Is designed to do several things for your fish:
· Removes Toxic Chlorine & Chloramines · Adds Protective Coating for Fish · Neutralizes Heavy Metals Aquasafe makes tap water harmless to use for fish water. Ordinary tap water contains chemicals and metals that can damage fish. They are harmed by rapid changes in pH, temperature, etc which can result from water changing. Most fish owners rely on tap water when setting up an aquarium ... ...many chemicals added to kill bacteria (good and bad bacteria). Because these chemicals are deadly to fish, never keep fish in untreated tap water! Fill the aquarium with water, treat it, and then add fish once the water is settled. After doing a partial water change, the water in the aquarium will again need to be treated. ...

substances. Contains special compounds that eliminate chlorine and bind up heavy metals. Contains colloids that coat the fish, protecting them against infection. Contains stress-reducing vitamins, and compounds that inhibit bacteria and fungi, thereby mitigating the stressful effects of aquarium maintenance Unlike most water conditioners, AquaSafe leaves no residues and is completely broken down to harmless substances Application Add AquaSafe to new tap water at a rate of 5ml per 10litres (2gallons), to make it safe prior to adding it to the aquarium. AquaSafe can also be added directly to the aquarium at the same dosage to act as a general stress-reliever. This is especially helpful for new fish, following maintenance, or when treating the fish for a disease. When preparing water for water changes, it is best to treat it with AquaSafe in a bucket beforehand, and use boiled tap water to warm it to the same temperature as the aquarium.
