...You can plug in your archos to your vhs, dvd player or even your sky box and record any program or film straight onto the 30GB hard drive whilst it charges. Its then easily available to watch on the go for up to 4 hours of video and 12 hours of music as the battery allows.
Music quality is excellent with the included earphones however the speaker quality is just better of that of a mobile phone. The device synrochronises with your PC with ease extracting ... ...voice recorder and TV scheduler to name but a few. Overall in my personal opinion, the 404 camcorder is the best in the archos range due to its size capacity, screen clarity and built in camcorder and is overall the best value item I have ever obtained in my life. ...

Advantages: Many different Audio and Video formats/codecs supported. Big display Disadvantages: Volume not very loud
The Archos 404 is a multi-functional MP3 Player. It doesn't only play music, with its big display you can also watch films and read PDF docunents.
With additional plugins you can play podcasts and even .vob files.
There is a range of addons starting with a camera which can be attached to a helmet and finishing with the DVR Station.
This docking station gives you the possibility to play your films on TV but also to record on your device from TV.
... ...unlike the iPod you don't need any special software to transfer music and films from the computer to the device.
On the overall it's a product I would recommend anyone who doesn't only want to listen to music, but also wants to be able to record from TV and watch films. ...

The Archos 404 also allows you to put add ons either software or hardware (AVI playback, camera's) you can also buy a devise that allows you to use the 404 as a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) which gets the programme information via the internet. The whole this is also light and compact. Battery life is not brilliant but does last at least 8 hours of music playing. Personally i like this better than the iPod

Advantages: Looks Cool / stores loads of data / not to big / long battery life Disadvantages: screen can scratch quite easy so recomend you get a protector
...TV and sky onto your archos and also allows you to record from DVD's, which you can then watch whenever you want on your archos. Also the DVR Station allows you to wach a film that is stored on your archos on your TV which is always handy.
I was going to get the upgraded version of the Archos 504 but when is saw its size i decided to stick with the Archos 404 because it is not to big but the screen is still large enough to watch a film on.

It does all that you could ever want with more thrown in just for fun. What do you want from your multi media player? Well whatever it is this one does it. Easy to use, loads of optional extras, very good sized screen, built in speaker and excellent storage capacity. From your PC you can treat it as an external hard drive, store and view all of your photos, homemade video clips, mp3 tracks. Put your favourite films tv, shows and videos on it to watch ... ...on to listen to instead of using an additional mp3 player. You can plug it into your TV and record straight to it. You can buy a very good quality helmet camera to record straight to the device which is such good quality i use it when out mountain biking. If you want you can store all your files on it to transfer between computers the possibilties are endless. ...
