...only watch it on the Archos if the DVD had the protection built in.
It is easy to set up to record TV or to watch it on TV, but I noticed it distorted images from my PACE sattelite box. On other boxes and digital freeview it recorded and played back perfectly. The images andsound are clear.
The docking station has all of the sound and video connections you need for great stereo and visuals and there are ays to have dolby 5.1 as well.
You can also ... ...headphones than those supplied. The player shows the album art as well. You can search for music by artist, album, year, etc
If you have big pockets the bulk will not worry you and the battery lasted me around 14 hours listening to music and 5 hours watching video.
Overall this is a great bit of kit. Only drawback is the bulk, but that is outwayed by its capabilities.
If you only need a hard drive then this is not for you as it is over £400. But ...

...Good for travelling. However my archos also decided to freeze alot after about 4 months of having it. My friend says that his brother had the same thing and that archos were a bit dodgy. Its good if your rich and want to store films.Quite a big screen for its Quite complicated to use aswell. ...

Advantages: Small, huge capacity (80gb) Disadvantages: Not much bundled with it, slow at times on the menu
I have been using the Archos 504 for a several months now. I initially was disappointed with the contents in the box (the 500 had everything and this had nothing but the usb cable). The reasoning from Archos (I was told by the sales person) is that everything other than the main section is an 'optional extra'. However, Archos are a great brand and the quality of the build is good too. No exception for the 504. A new coating on the screen, which means ... ...screen and the HD capacities are good too. I went for an 80gb and have yet to fill it!
Once I had bought the TV docking station (easy to fit/wire up) and the portable extra docking (for allowing my memory card reader to port into the 504 for transfering photos) I was set. The only disappointing bit of the TV docking was the recording is 640x480 (or there abouts) yet the output is HD quality. When watching films/tv shows on the TV the quality is ...

(+) Great screen quality and size, built in speaker and stand. (-) The only downside is that it is fragile, and can be hard to get used to the on screen keyboard.
