For Those Emergencies

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

I've had an argos card since they first bought them out around 8 years ago, as I found having a store card to Argos was very useful, you never know what you might need and if you haven't got the cash for what you need then it could end up being a problem. Having an Argos card give you the ability to purchase more or less anything that you may need to replace in an emergency and is relatively cost effective too. When enrolling for an Argos card, ...
...on the card. The Argos card offers many benefits, I feel more so than other card companies, you regularly receive newsletters with your statements with money off vouchers when you £50, it goes on normal credit in which you have 30 days to pay before you start to get charged interest on the purchase. However if you spend over certain amounts, you can obtain up to 3 months and 6 months interest free credit, and they always make you aware when this ...

The Argos Card...... The Argos Card is a store card where you can purchase items from that store on a buy now pay later type scheme. The scheme ranges from your small purchases where you can have over a months grace to pay off the item or the larger amounts where you can have 3 months, 6 months, 9 months or even a 12-month interest free period on the purchase price. The main reason I when ahead and applied for this card was that we were just moving ...
...sofa from Argos and agreed we would be better putting the sofa on this card and paying for it in 9 months when are finances were a little better. Because it would cost us nothing to use the card as long as we paid the amount in full buy the time the agreement is up we decided this was the better option all round. Getting the card was simple and after applying in store I received my new card within a few weeks. The sofa arrived and every month I ...

...national debt. The Argos card is somewhere in between. I don't generally agree with store cards. They can offer one to anyone over 18 and they regularly do. I think store cards are a bad idea because they are so easy to get and use and thereofre build uphuge debts. Offering them to every person that comes in is wrong I think. Having them available for people to ask about is fair enough, but I think offering them to everyone is irresponsible as it ...
...I used to work for Argos and I was there when the Argos card scheme began. There were a few reasons for Argos having their own card, apart from the obvious benefits they have of a riduculously high APR of 25.9% that earns them lots of money. One was that the premier points scheme that used to be in conjunction with BP petrol stations was superceded by Nectar. So because Argos still had to give goods in exchange for points they had to find another ...

The Card With The Yellow Duck!

Advantages: Special Offers, Reward Points, Buy Now Pay Later Options
Disadvantages: High APR

I first took out an Argos card a few years back as a bit of an emergency measure really. My mobile phone had broken and, yes it was that time of the month, a week before payday. Being the impatient person I am I wanted a new one, and I wanted it now! So after having a look through what at the time was quite a thin Argos catalogue, not like today’s one, I saw the details of their Argos card. So I figured that this would be a good idea. After picking ...
...visiting www.argos.co.uk and clicking the Argos Card link at the very bottom of the page. The card itself arrived within about 10 days which is pretty average for these sorts of things. Anyway I had already made my purchase. When you apply for the card you get the choice of 3 different card designs, one bright yellow with a duck on it, the second with a picture of to dolphins diving, and the third card is a boring plain blue card. Just to be different ...

Argos Customer Service Team need Training!

Advantages: Can purchase and pay off items on interest free credit schemes
Disadvantages: Very poor customer services

We have held an Argos card for 4 years. We have used it on approximately 4 ocassions during that time. We have used the card to make larger purchases on the interest free credit scheme which has until now worked fairly smoothly. Once we have purchased an item, we pay a small sum every month during the interest free term and then settle the balance. This week however, we had our 'fingers burnt'. Almost a year ago we purchased an item for almost £400 ...
...decided we would ask for Argos vouchers as gifts at our wedding during the year. I read the 'small print' and found nothing to suggest that vouchers would not be an acceptable form of payment. This week I called up to find out how we go about settling the balance in this manner. We were told this was not acceptable and that vouchers were only accepted over the counter for goods bought in store. I asked to speak to a Customer Services supervisor who ...

...a little stretched, so an argos card seemed like the perfect solution! "Buy now, pay over 12 months" seemed a good idea! Reading the small print (while trying not to go blind) I thought okay, pay a bit each month, then there wont be too much left to pay at the end of the year! Except that isnt how things turned out! Over 12 months I paid £270 of the balance, but at the end of the year I was £30 short of the total! Low and behold Argos added the ...

Argos Card - Never, EVER again, a complete joke.

Advantages: We found none. We should have paid outright or got a pay monthly plan from Currys
Disadvantages: Incompetent and rude staff, adding random charges and items to our account, harasing and stressful

The Argos card was easy to apply for, and quite convenient. Or so we thought. We were offered 'buy now, pay 12 months later' scheme in September 2008. In February 2009, we started getting letters telling us the full balance was now due. We made a phonecall to Argos and I spoke to a very rude saleswoman who kept rather annoyingly repeating "you would have been told what the scheme was when you first took out the credit, it's not our mistake". After ...
...a near daily basis by Argos asking us to pay the balance of our account immediately (our original purchase was £955, the statement now totals near £2,500), and after I insist to them this is their error (after which they INSIST we MUST have used our Argos card for additional purchases), they eventually see that there is an adjustment on another system (?) and both (?) systems aren't showing our correct details. Why are our details on two systems ...

Quick review of Argos Card

I was looking at buying some new bedroom furniture so me and my partner thought we would get an argos card to spread the cost a little. We succeeded in getting the card and was asked by one of the store workers if we would like to pay by direct debit i said yes she said she would set that up for me in store. i was on a buy now pay 3 months later all was good till i got a letter saying that i had been charged 12 pounds late payment fee and also had 300 pounds taken off my credit limit reason being because the lady in the shop didn't set up my direct debit. customer services was no help at all to me. ...

...opinion) Whilst the argos store card is very good in that you can earn points which are then used against future purchases. (It does take a while to build up points though!) It is also good to have a card because you get lots of special offers like 10% off. However whenever we have tried customer services they have been very unhelpful. We tried on several occassions to get an extra card for myself as the original card was in my husbands name but ...
...This was vertually impossible to obtain so we gave up. However my biggest problem was when we went on holiday, we had a payment due which we always paid on time and cleared the balance in full (i was only using the card to get the points). However we were going on holiday so I asked someone to pay the bill on my behalf they forgot and only paid it the day it was due therefore the funds cleared a day late. As a consequence of this we were charged ...

Disadvantages: WORST POSSIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, HIDDEN CHARGES, DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH!!

I took out an Argos card to pay for a sofa because i'd get two years intrest free credit. If only I knew what I know no, I wouldn't have bothered, even if that meant taking out a loan!!
