Argos stores, tend to be fairly big in size. They are located all over. Just about everywhere you go, there is an Argos store. They have a wide variety of products for sale, and their prices tend to be very reasonable.

Argos now have two catologues. One is for the home, and the other is clothing. The clothing book is called Argos Additions.
The Argos book, has round about 900 pages of products. It is split up into catorgories of:

*Pet related
*Furniture, living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, bedrooms

Advantages: More stores than rival! Disadvantages: Can be more expensive on certain items!
...love to get the new Argos catalogue as soon as its released and I just can't wait to browse all the pages to find out what's new and what's been removed and also what has either gone down or up in price.
The new catalogue has been out for several weeks now this is for the autumn and winter 2001 it has 956 pages, including covers and claims to have put the prices down on over 1200 items.
Every year I am asked by family members what I want my children ... ...I always give half the Argos list to my Dad and the otter half to my mother in-law, as Argos seem to have the most choice in toys!
I also compare the prices of the items with Index just in case they are cheaper, but not all the products are the same.
Here I can give you examples of three things that are identical in every way apart from price.

Personally, I think Argos is THE lazy buggers best friend! That means I am right at home there hahaha. Every quarter or so there is a new catalogue (made from several trees) to collect. Its always brighter and ‘packed with more products at cheaper prices’. A claim that is actually fulfilled every time.
This is not a fancy shop, its not your John Lewis or your Marks and Sparks. It’s an everyday store for everyday ... ...Argos quite a good place to deal with.
Now, I wouldn’t buy a TV there and I wouldn’t buy a lounge there. I’d go to a specialist. What I would and do buy there is everyday stuff (again I say it). Hairdryers, kettles, cutlery, crockery, mops, sheets, you name it. They actually have a huge range of items in the catalogue, including outdoor, power tools, furniture, housewares (HUGE!), electronics, audio/video, jewellery and even toys.

Argos is different to any other store, as all the items that are for sale are available for you to see in their free bi-annual catalogue, which you can view in the comfort of your own home. The catalogue that comes out is for Spring/Summer and then Autumn/Winter. In addition to this catalogue Argos has also recently launched their new ‘Additions ‘ catalogue, which is a new clothing catalogue for all the family.
The 954 page catalogue ... ...collect your item/s. (All the Argos stores have a three digit code which are all listed at the back of the current Argos catalogue.) From this automated service you can find out whether the item is in stock at the store that you have chosen, and also the current price, you can then reserve the item. You will need a pen to write down the reservation number that you are given and then you will need to quote this number when you collect your goods in ...

The Argos Catalogue!! August 07
The first thing that I love about the Argos Book is that its a free catalogue which is jam packed with everything and anything. What alot of people forget is that alot of places you have to pay or subscribe for catalogues.
The front cover is so eye catching this years is 'Bursting With Choice' and shows numerous popular items bursting through a hole in the book .i.e. a Sony Ericsson Phone, Dinosaur, Sofa. Each different ... ...to be two books. An Argos Catalogue and An Argos Extra Catalogue, Now theres just one. If you dont live near an Extra store you can order the item into your normal Argos so this way everyone has full choice of all the items in the book not just the items which are stocked in your store!
The catalogue has pretty much everything inside. From watches to kettles to sofas to fax machines to mp3 players to wheelchairs to puppy gates to toys for boys, ...

Argos is one of the favourite places for Chrismas presents. Every year you tend to see endless streams of people exit the shop with gigantic bags bursting with goods. There's lots of reasons for this.
My guess to why this this is one fo Britians favourite shops is because it's extremely easy to buy from. They always have a million trees worth of catalouges, which you simply can pick up, take home and decide what to buy. If you're an especially lazy ... ...with it's number code.
Argos has recently expanded its range of items and services. Like many other companies, they've started their own loyalty card. You can now basically order your entire wedding from a special catalouge. Magazine subscriptions, flowers, gift vouchers and virtucally any type of insurance you could ever want is all in once 900 page cataloge.

Argos must be a great shop. They sell everything, last eyar they didn't but they now have the Argos Additions clothes catalogue now which is great. If you look in any catalogue then at argos additions you will see the prices are low by £10 or more I love it. I am going today to get a pair of trousers and other thnigs. There are Argos branches everywhere. Argos are constantly adding new items to their lists all the time they are brilliant. Nothing ... ...There is now Argos on the internet as well which is good for people that are house bound or that have no Argos. To get something in the argos catalogue you go to the store look in the catalogue then write in the number and quantity. You go to the till then pay they will tell you a collection point, you then wait for your number to be called out. Argos seems to be my favourite shop these days, especially now that I am settling down and getting married. I have already previously bought some of my boy's toys from Argos as they have a mass of neat little electronic gadgets to keep most men happy. Nowadays I am buying household items like a steam & rice cooker, Brita water filters, George Foreman Lean Mean Grilling Machine and Tefal pots and pans etc etc. Getting very domesticated ... ...online so you can pick them up next day which may save a lot of waiting around. ...lady I spoke to at Argos was extremely helpful and offered either my money back or an exchange (the packaging wasn't even completely intact!!). Perhaps she had heard of my reputation!!!
I was also very impressed last week when I bought an office chair. These come flat packed but are quite heavy and oddly shaped to carry. The lady from the warehouse must have seen my face when she brought the chair out (I must have looked horrified as the car was ... ...I used to think Argos had pretty poor customer service, as you get the general impression that with the showroom/warehouse concept they want to get you in and out the store as quickly as possible.
I am also like the points scheme they run with BP and Somerfield (although I have heard that Somerfield are stopping this on the 14th Feb, which is disappointing). At least this scheme allows me to save points towards stuff I do actually want and can choose ...

Advantages: great service.....delivered on time. No fuss or hassle....all the bits were included etc Disadvantages: 6 months on, everything has broken in som form or another!
...morning. I am going into Argos tomorrow to complain and see if they will do anything, but I don't hold out much hope. Also my ergonomic computer chair has a wobbly arm and gives me backache, and the feet fell off my comp tabel when we were moving it. So everything I got from there has broken.....and I am not happy and am now changing my rating from 4 out of 5 to 1 out of 5!
I have shopped at Argos for years. Usually just purchasing small items. ... ...& decided to buy from Argos because they were the best buy. I couldn't afford a really good mattress just yet & so they seemed a fairly good price.
My only criticism is this. My bed was in the "normal" Argos catalogue & the "Additions" catalogue. In the normal catalogue.....you could get the bed & a mattress for £230. ...go home, flick through my Argos catalogue, and there it is, about £10 cheaper!! I do have one major gripe though, well several really… I bemuse myself every time I buy an item from its extensive range. I suffer from complete deja-vu because in two months after purchasing I will do one of the following things: I either won’t have used it, couldn’t assemble it without the aid of several hypoallergenic plasters, have given it to someone ... ...My latest test for Argos is going to be monumental. I will attempt to buy a bookshelf that stands up of its own accord without bowing under the weight of several reference books. The last one I brought was impractical because, although it was in fashionable beech effect, and looked excellent quality in the catalogue, once assembled was quite flimsy – I will keep you updated!

For certain items argos is the best bet, as far as price and convenience goes. One of the main problems i find with thier store however is that of delivery of bulky goods. there is an area at the back of my local store where you can navigate your way past a intercom arm device and to their backdoor to collect your purchases. this is not very easy and it can be time consuming. pressing the strange buzzer thing to get the staff's attention isn't always ... ...from the store.
My local Argos (Stirling) does score points over Index on this matter though. Index does not have a backdoor to collect from, so all heavy items have to be delivered. I just think that Argos needs to look into improving this service further.
Plus i think they need some better air-conditioning, as i am always overheating in their store. ...
