Disadvantages Disadvantages Could easily rip whilst handling

When I moved into my first home I wanted to try and find home ware as cheap as I possibly could. The couple of weeks before moving I spent hours and hours searching for good value goods. That's when I purchased these paper light shades, they looked good and, more importantly, were cheap. What are they There are three light shades in this packet, a round one like a ball, a square one and a long triangle one, they are all the same cream colour. The shades come flat packed in individual plastic covers, with assembly instructions too. I paid £4.99 for these 2 years ago and after a quick look are ... more

Since we moved into our house about 18 months ago, my partner and I have had terrible trouble with finding lampshades to fit our awkward light fittings that were already here. We wanted to get him a small housewarming present to help him settle into his new home, and eventually got a few different items to go towards decoration - including this set of three paper lightshades from Argos. I have already had these in my home, when I first moved in, so I know from my own experience that these can be a bit fiddly to put up . Firstly, you need to insert the metal frame into the paper shade, which comes flat, and then open the lampshade out . Then have to stand on a chair, and manipulate the wire from ... more

    Advantages Advantages Bargain, very attractive

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite fragile

I bought this set of three paper lampshades for £4.99 back in 2005. We had just moved into a rented furnished cottage in Oxford and I badly wanted to change the questionable green lampshades that were already there! Since the house was rather dinky, I only needed three - living room, hall and bedroom. The rest of the rooms had flush ceiling light fittings. Flicking through the Laminated Book of Dreams (i.e. the Argos catalogue) I was chuffed to see this set for that price and on the shopping list they went. Something that's not particularly obvious from the picture, is that each one is ... more
