    Advantages Advantages Can be used at very low temperatures

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not suitable for hand washing, overpowering scent on Febreze version, made stains worse

    Introduction I must admit that I am not a brand snob when it comes to laundry detergent. I do prefer liquid detergents and have been using a wool detergent from Lidl for years, with occasional purchases of whatever biological stuff is on offer for towels and bedlinen. I also do most of my laundry at 30 degrees - I got into this habit several years ago and find that my Lidl detergent works very well at this temperature.     Advantages Advantages small neat bottle, gets laundry clean, smells great

    Since this came on the shelves at my local Asda I rarely buy anything else. The usual price is £4.34 for a 666ml bottle (18 washes) but it's usually on offer for around £3 if not a bit less. I like it for the simple fact the packaging is a lot smaller and fit's in the cupboard! This comes in a small ovaley shaped white bottle, there is a clear stripe up the side which let's you see how much gel is left. It has a dosing cup fitted onto the top of the bottle and the bottle is a flip top lid for easy usage.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Not value for money even when on promotion.

    I recently purchased Ariel Excel Gel laundry detergent after seeing it advertised on television. My usual purchase would be the Ariel 2 x conc liquid since it is almost impossible to find the old bigger Ariel dilute packs anymore. I had heard some good things from friends about the cleaning quality of Excel gel and ease of use, so certainly wanted to try it. I purchased the product on offer at Tesco for £3.98 for 18 washes.
