Pearly White

Advantages: Does a good job
Disadvantages: aftertaste

...nothing but good vibes about Arm & Hammer bought a tube at our local Poundland, for a very reasonable…………….yep £1. I was none too convinced after having several previous failures, but thought what the heck it can't do any harm, and indeed it did not. What it did do however was to make a significant improvement in the shade of white my teeth were to look. By this I mean my teeth are not pearly white they are though significantly closer to that shade ...
...less sensitive than previous, although I am not attributing that factor purely down to this toothpaste, but it probably has helped a bit. The toothpaste comes in a none to lavish tube similar to that of ordinary brands. It has the normal manufacturer branding in a pretty if insignificant blue colour. The box in which the tube arrives is similarly marked, and has all the ingredients and details printed along one of it's sides. On opening the tube ...

Advantages: Leaves teeth feeling very clean
Disadvantages: Paranoia about grinding sound when brushing

...picked up a tube of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda Toothpaste. If ever a product seemed completely in tune with the 1950s then it is Arm and Hammer. The packaging and design is simple to the extreme, with little regard for overall looks. Primarily white, with a red logo and blue text, the only concession to the 21st century is the typeface. That it tastes and feels like something from 50 years ago comes as no surprise either. The first time I used it ...
...abrasion' of the toothpaste. Apparently Arm and Hammer has half the 'relative' dentine abrasivity of normal leading toothpaste. Interesting. So why do my teeth feel like they've just been scoured with Jif? So, for that first day I sat at work with my gums feeling like they'd been filed, and my teeth seemingly encased in pebble-dash. The next brushing that evening seemed less terrifying, and despite the odd taste, a sort of minty / grouty combo, ...

Advantages: Healthy teeth
Disadvantages: none in my opinion

...especially if you use: Arm & Hammer Original Baking Soda Toothpaste. 100ml costs £1.89 (Tesco) The tube is just like any other tube, soft plastic with a lid on top. The tube is white, silver and navy, on the front of the tube is a red circle going around the circle are the words Arm & Hammer. In the centre of the circle there is a picture of an arm (and hand) holding a hammer. This toothpaste has the extra whitening power of baking powder. I have ...

Arm and Hammer Baking soda tooth paste

Advantages: neutralises acidity, bleaching and whitening effect, cheap
Disadvantages: not great taste, doesnt lather bubbles much

Well it's not my favourite but I use it because of the whitening effect and it's cheaper to get hold of.Right I use two toothpaste and do try others sometime,so that I can compare which is better.I have been using this one lately with a colgate freshmint one. Advantages: Cleaning action. Baking soda neutralises the acids generated all over the mouth after meals.Acid is produced by tiny bugs and bacteria feeding onto the food debris between your ...
...Whitening and Bleaching It's also a whitening and bleaching toothpaste offering gentle deep cleaning.I do quite agree with this too. Low abrasion. As the tube describes,it's creditted for it's low abrasion. It says witha nice little chart at the back of the tube that by using it you limit dentine(a tooth tissue, under the enamel),yes you limit dentine abrasion to 50% relative to leading regular toothpastes Other merits: Clean mouth feel Helps ...

...along a 50ml tube of Arm & Hammer Extra whitening paste ‘with the power of baking soda’ ~The packaging~ White and blue and just like any other tube of toothpaste, simply average! Rating: 3/5 ~The Smell~ Again, nothing unusual, slightly minty! To be honest, it was not a particularly nice feeling, a bit like scratching your fingernails down a black board. Still, it was not bad enough to stop me using the paste and it is after all, the way this toothpaste removes stains. So, not pleasant, but necessary for it to work. Rating: 4/5 ~The Taste~ ...

Disadvantages: Taste may not be to everyones liking and can be frothy and messy when used.

...can, and the reason? Arm & Hammer Extra Whitening toothpaste, oh, and also because I'm a happy bunny as well. I spotted this strangely named tooth whitener on the supermarket shelf and it just jumped out at me. I somehow knew this would be the one for me. Firstly it was in a lovely silver box with a blue stripe on which was written 'With the power of Baking Soda'. Now that sounded a bit different from the usual minty stuff, and it also said about ...
...cause damage. Arm & Hammer, if I've got it right, seem to be saying that their Extra Whitening is only about half as abrasive as regular toothpaste. That impressed me. Also, in the back of my mind, I seemed to remember reading somewhere how baking soda was good for cleaning teeth. I'm always interested in old remedies. On the box there is also a round circle in red stating 'Arm & Hammer' and in the middle is an arm holding a hammer. Must have taken ...

The Magic of Baking Soda

Advantages: Leaves your teeth and mouth feeling clean and fresh. Also helps whiten your teeth.
Disadvantages: None

We have been using Arm & Hammer Baking Soda toothpaste since 1985 when we were first introduced to it during a stay at our cousin’s house in New Jersey. At the time, Arm & Hammer was not available in the UK. Actually, if I remember rightly, there was no comparable brand of toothpaste containing baking soda that we knew of on the UK market. By the end of our week’s stay, we were completely and utterly hooked on it. The untouched Colgate ...

Sixteen years later, not only do we have the Arm & Hammer Dental Care Original on our supermarket shelves, but also the Gel version. Both versions of the product leave your mouth feeling fresher and your teeth feeling cleaner than you could ever experience from toothpaste which does not contain the magic ingredient called Baking Soda. How It Works ------------- ...

...last ones I purchased was arm & hammer dental care baking soda toothpaste. I have since been on the look out for healthier alternatives. More about that later. My opinion of the baking soda flavour has changed. When I first tried it I found it so sour that i felt a little ill when brushing my teeth. ...is with the flouride (in arm & hammer there's 0.24% total sodium flouride). After reading 4 or 5 articles in reliably unbiased publications, and listening to some interviews with experts, I have decided that flouride is an unacceptable industrial by-product, that is unnatural to our bodies, and we could do without it, even small amounts count. At worst it may be responsible for some of the increase in certain ailments over the decades. I think that ...

...is green, with a little arm and hammer symbol (which surprisingly enough is an arm with a hammer) it has quite an old fashioned look to it a bit like pictures of cosmetics and washing powder from the 1950s. It promises whiter teeth ‘with the power of baking soda’. It also states that it will help remove plaque and fight decay, clean away deep stains and polish teeth brighter. Take a hammer to your teeth

Advantages: Cleans your teeth very well
Disadvantages: Has a slightly salty taste

Ive been using Arm & Hammer toothpaste for many years now. It is an American brand Made by Church and Dwight Co. Inc of Princton NJ. The major differance between this and other brands is that it uses baking soda to assist in the cleaning process I normally use the Freshmint version. However last time i went to get some there was none left. There was the Original Coolmint sitting there though. I thought why not. I paid my £1.88 for a 100 ml tube, ...
...and white with a red Arm & Hammer logo. This Original Coolmint packaging is the same design but in blue and white. Placing a little on my toothbrush, I start brushing. It has a slightly granular taste very minty and has a tingling sensation on my tongue. It froths up well, but not overly so. On spitting it out i notice that it has turned from white to a creamy colour. A little like milky coffee. Ive noticed that this happens with the Freshmint version ...

...the salty baking soda. Arm & Hammer describe their product as "Gentle deep cleaning". I suppose I would agree with this, your teeth really do feel like they've just had a session with the denstist and his scrubbing tools when you've finished! The surface of your teeth feel extra smooth and the toothpase does feel as it is described - "gentle". Apparently, the reason it feels so gentle is because baking soda particles are smaller and softer than ...
...the particles are so small, they are able to reach parts of your teeth other toothpastes wouls miss - hence the extra clean feeling. As far as the packaging goes, it's pretty standard, a blue and white box - nothing eye catching. It definately wouldn't jump out at you in the supermarket - unless it said "Special Offer" of course (sounds familiar)! So, if you are prepared to put up with the taste of this toothpaste I'm sure you would feel the difference ...

...after brand of toothpaste. Arm and Hammer Baking Soda Toothpaste is, without doubt, the best toothpaste I've used. It leaves my mouth feeling fresh and clean. Excellent shine, but not the best.

Advantages: cleans better than other well known brands
Disadvantages: none other than nasty taste

I know many have already voiced their opinions on this great product, but I feel this piece of ‘advice’ could be useful. So please read on… A&H Baking Soda toothpaste is in its own league, there is just no alternative brand that combines a brilliant shine, deep cleansing and polishing of your teeth like A&H does. After a few days you can actually see the difference – your teeth look whiter (although not as white as you may hope) and it’s got this ...
...The only problem with A&H Baking Soda toothpaste is that it tastes slightly vile, leaving you with not just glorious teeth but also a nasty taste in your mouth. But only recently I came across a different type of A&H Baking Soda toothpaste, with Extra Whitening. Does what it says on the tube, but also tastes quite good. For a few pennies more you get the incredible cleaning of A&H Baking Soda, plus a reasonably long lasting fresh taste. ...
