Giorgio Armani the Italian fashion designer known for dressing half of Hollywood in the 80's launched ADG back in 1996 on the back of the very successful perfume baring the same name. ...favourites, Acqua De Gio by Giorgio Armani.
Up until last year I had never smelt or seen this in the shops. That was the case until one night I agreed to look after my sister. My dad wandered into the room and the beautiful fragrance that is Acqua De Gio followed him. I was instantly hooked.
Acqua de Gio is a fairly new fragrance for men. I bought my bottle from the Armani shop in Manchester for £32.00 for a 50ml bottle. The actual bottle is very ... ...the ACQUA DE GIO and GIORGIO ARMANI written on the front in large black letters. The notes to ADG build this up like there is no tomorrow, stating that the fragrance is distinctly masculine in nature, with a transparent, fresh woody smell. Normally I'm not too keen on an aftershave that has a distinct woody smell, as personally I prefer the waft of light citrus. It's far easier my nose and the noses of the people who have to be around me.
Upon opening ...

Advantages: Light, fresh Disadvantages: Get a spray-bottle!
...1996, Aqua Di Gio from Giorgio Armani was one of the main players in this change and quickly became one of the most popular scents of the end of the 20th century.
Apparently, Mr (Giorgio) Armani gets his inspiration for fragrances from the island of Pantelleria, located half-way between Sicily and Tunisia in the Mediterranean. Unfortunately I've never been to the island (and this is a review of an aftershave anyway!) but it's fair to say that Aqua ... ...colourless (but not quite) too. Giorgio would have you believe that it's the colour of sunlight(!) but in reality, it's the colour of whatever light you happen to be looking at it in.
The scent will probably be well know to most people. It's light, citrus top-notes are almost unmistakable , lemon, lime and mandarin are all present in force to give a lively edge to the scent. Beyond this you will find traces of fresh coriander and freesia along with ...

...and ACQUA DE GIO and GIORGIO ARMANI flashed across front and back. Actually, I quite like the design of the bottle - it's quite minimalist and not over-elaborate as some similar products can be.

No.
The most significant factor in deciding whether to buy (or use) a fragrance is the.....erm...fragrance. In other words, what does it smell like?

...the design house owned by Giorgio Armani back in 1995 and being marketed as a ‘resolutely masculine fragrance born from the sea, the sun, the earth and the breeze of a Mediterranean Island’ it seems to have garnered a small reputation of being the ‘young mans choice’ (this being the sales assistant who sold me my first bottles words, not mine) and though not having the huge marketing campaigns that some aftershaves and most perfumes get its definitely ... ...Product itself will be presented in a small Silvery-Grey Box, housing quite a chubby bottle that has an almost ice-effect, and as with most Aftershaves nowadays you have the choice of getting it in either a Lotion Form or a Spray, myself now I always seem to go for the Lotion, I don’t know why it just seems that the bottle that they’ve decided to package the Spray in seems to spray out a little too much each time I use it.
Onto the actual product ...

Hi. I'm going to share with you my experiences with Armani's ACQUA DI GIO today.
This fragrance came out way back in 1996 following the successes of Armani Mania (1981) and Armani Eau Pour Homme (1984). I have no hesitation in saying that Acqua Di Gio too is a success. Armani's Acqua Di Gio for Men is constantly being advertised everywhere, particularly in Debenhams and Men's magazines such as Men's Fitness and Men's Health. This was a big factor ... ...millions advertising this fragrance if it was not good. Neither would Debenhams display posters of it everywhere either. I also bought my 50ml of Acqua Di Gio because of the positive reviews from word of mouth and from the Internet. I bought mine from Superdrug.
Anyway... Armani's Acqua Di Gio for Men comes in a simple creamy coloured card box which is wrapped in your usual clear film. The box for the 50ml bottle is approximately (H)105mm x (W) ...

Giorgio Armani - Acqua Di Gio is a wonderful scent and gives off a strong masculine scent that reminds me of the summer. It has that nice feel about it. I like to wear it in the summer months when the sun is out, as it seems to belong in this time of year but it can be used anytime anywhere. I first came across this fragrance when one of my mates was wearing it at football. I knew of it before and I heard that it was impressive stuff, but when I ... ...The first thing you come across is the bottle. With a slim-line rectangle shape bottle that is smoothly curved at the sides, Acqua Di Gio gets top marks for its bottle. The bottle is not revolutionary but rather, fits the part. It's stylish, sleek and fits well in the hand giving it no reason not to be given top marks ergonomics wise.
The bottle is clear and you can see the clear perfume inside. The top of the bottle is plastic and easy to spray. ...

...aftershave, Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani to give me that extra edge and self-confidence when I venture out into the big wide world. Sitting within it's frosted glass bottle, the aftershave appears to try and be understated, and this is obvious when you get down to the actual ingredients and blends that sit behind this enchanting aroma that makes you feel alive, slightly feminine but with a masculine edge to set it aside from it's female counterpart, ... ...through into the aftershave and when trying to describe it, the first thought is that it is light and somewhat airy, like a cool crisp breeze floating over a meadow. Aqua Di Gio is packaged in a white box with grey labelling. The bottle (which is very solid & sturdy) consists of frosted glass (again with grey labelling) and a silver top. A simple yet pleasant looking design, which I think understates the fragrance inside it!

Initially you do get a 'hit' of cool citrus but this is quickly followed up with underlying tones of rosemary, spiciness, jasmine and a hint of wood.

...Birthday Acqua Dio Gio from Giorgio Armani. I don't have this bottle anymore but still remember the distinctive fragrance.
The bottle as you can see is a very stylish looking one with ''Acqua Di Gio Giorgio Armani'' written on it. The cap is just a usual bottle cap and the bottle has the normal sprayer that you find on nearly every perfume.
Now onto the fragrance, As a young man I like to smell good when I go out so like to check the latest fragrances ... ...bottles of various fragrances so far.
The fragrance is a gorgeous smelling mix of fresh like a sea breeze and changes into a flowerey, fruity and energizing fragrance which indludes jasmine petal, crisp rock rose, rosemary, fruity persimmon and warm Indonesian patchouli, there are hints of citrus in there aswell and the fragrance is a smooth long lasting one
And will keep you smelling good whatever the situation.

Advantages: An all day fragrance Disadvantages: None
This is undoubtedly one of my favourite fragrances.
Acqua Di Gio is the older brother of Armani's new daytime fragrance Mania, and as such is a much more responsible mature fragrance, but no less fun! It is light, fresh and very different from the usual musky aftershaves for men. Plus it smells expensive!
It is a light citrussy fragrance with rounded musky/woody undertones which make it good for nights out, but essentially this is a day time fragrance.
... ...- suitable for business meetings, as well as a night out on the town. It's a fun but formal fragrance and is slightly flamboyant compared to other mens aftershaves, but no less masculine - it's an alternative to the norm - which is always welcome!
It is very distinctive and you do not need to wear a lot of it - it lasts exceptionally well with just a tiny splash. As a result I use it as accent fragrance preferring to use Nivea after shave lotion ...
