Advantages: Cheap, lots of choice, prompt staff, clean feel, quick. Disadvantages: Less than average food, tables too close together
...The first Aroma restaurant I went to was in Stevenage, and about 7 or 8 years ago. My impression at that visit was that the food was OK, and the price decent at £6.50 for lunch. That particular restaurant felt quite spacious, the variety of dishes plentiful, and the owner friendly (although our hosts for the visit was aquainted with her, so it doesn't count).
But. I am going to focus on my experiences at Aroma in the Luton restaurant.
I will split ... ...its cinema and all that. Aroma is located on the first floor and is readily viewable from the outside and whilst going up the escalators inside. The pricing is clearly displayed at the entrance.
So you go in, there is a sign indicating to you to wait for a member of staff to tend to you. They ask how many to dine, and whether or not you'd like to smoke. He/she then takes you to a suitably sized table and takes you drinks order; you are prompted ...

Advantages: seems like a good deal Disadvantages: isn't
...Or even a Chinese person. Aroma will have turned you racist.
Then again, all is not what it seems. Okay, the food is pretty nice, and you might be forgiven for thinking the all-you-can-eat is something of a bargain. That is, until you eat a single grain of rice and the intense concentration of MSG explodes in your stomach, swelling the grain into the size of an old man’s head. ‘Oh,’ you’ll think. ‘I’m full now.’ I’m exaggerating a little, of course, ... ...final note, it’s surprising that Aroma isn’t more full of tramps. If I was a tramp, that’s where I’d go. Once I’d scrimped a tenner from playing the penny whistle outside the Co-op, I’d get myself along to Aroma and stuff myself. What food I couldn’t digest, I’d store in my hump, like a camel, and it would keep me going for the rest of the week. Oddly, though, you don’t seem to come across many of them there. I suppose that’s a point in its favour.

Advantages: all you can eat, reasonably priced. Disadvantages: tables too close to eachother, no indication of non msg foods.
I mainly visit the Hemel Hempstead establishment which will be what this review is based on.
Firstly at lunchtimes you have a choice of 30 dishes whereby you help yourself.
Evenings there are 60 dishes.
There is also a choice of having a small selection of foods cooked on hotplate with either chilli or garlic or both, oils and sauces. The beauty of this is you can choose how much of what you want.
Surroundings are pleasant, toilets very clean, ... ...which can be a tad annoying when you can hear other peoples conversations and vice versa.
Staff are prompt and friendly.
Cleanliness of food area is good, plates and cutlery weren't as clean as I would like, they should invest in a better dishwasher.
Another gripe was that there were no indications of which foods contained MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) which I am allergic to. Staff didn't really understand which dishes did or didn't have it in. Therefore ...
